In today's video we break down 2021 NBA Rookie of the Year Lamelo Ball and how he transformed himself from being an average shooter to winning ROTY! Pay close attention to the things we point out in today's video because a lot of the tips and tricks Lamelo used to transform his shot are things you can do yourself! When it comes to shooting it is ALL about your shooting mechanics! One tweak here or there can take you from being an average shooter to a lights-out shooter. Pay close attention as I walk you through all of the things Lamelo did to become an elite shooter, and how you can use his transformation as a blueprint to improve your own jumper! Could you go over shooting fingers? I did your custom shot design and I use my middle finger but sometimes I wonder if I am getting my hand under the ball properly.
Also maybe a video on how to make sure you are shooting the ball instead of flinging it, if that makes sense.
One thing that was overlooked that Lamelo does is that he uses a shooting V with his middle and ring finger and aims that V at the rim of the basket. When he releases those fingers close, causing a line to the basket. Elbow extended above the ear at release for a high arching shot. His index and middle fingers are together when he shoots, leaving the space between his middle and ring finger extended. When he releases he squeezes the space between his middle and ring fingers close and aims them through the hoop while his index finger points at the target. He even said in a practice video that aims his middle two fingers (middle and ring finger) at the basket. Unorthodox, because we were always told that the index and middle fingers form the shooting V at the center of the ball and that at release you either 1): poke your index finger through the cylinder and your other fingers to the side( like Jordan and kobe) 2): use middle finger by slightly poking that finger down the center of the cylinder with either a fixed wrist or bent down(steph curry) or 3) aim the space in between your index and middle fingers into the basket. (Split finger shooter like Jimmy Butler). Lamelo also uses his left thumb, idk if he does a swipe or just uses it to leverage the ball for even more arc. Larry Bird also used his middle and ring finger spread at the middle of the basketball. He said in a video that he used his "middle two fingers" to aim the ball into the basket with his index finger pointing either up or at the basket.
I noticed something! I’m pretty sure The Hornets were so interested in LaMelo that they did what the Lakers didn’t do with Zo! They helped him improve his jumper! Zo didn’t get his jumper improved until he got to NO! If the Lakers would’ve done this with Zo then maybe Zo would developed way faster than he has!

The editing skills were already good but it keeps improving together with the music, Love it! Coach can you make an example of how to schedule all of your programs in a week. That would be much of a help.
Good question! I would basically take 5 days of the week, and use 3 of them doing one program, and the other 2 of them doing another... OR you can prioritize the workouts based on your needs. So if you really need to work on your handles, focus primarily on that.

Just keep shooting, that is literally all it is. That is something you don't think about, you should just know
Arc is probably your problem. When you release the ball, try to get the bend in your elbow aligned with your shooting eye just so you know you’re always getting the right amount of lift.

I always thought that Lamelo was actually better with his old jumper, but it’s most likely because he wasn’t in the nba and it was easier to make shots.
