    Supposidly this generation WRX has the best engine ever found in a WRX for reliability and tunability. I remember wanting a Bug Eye WRX when they first launched and almost got one back in 2016. Now that I am in my 40's, I've thought about finally getting one but my wife is unable to drive manual anymore due to an auto accident her knee and hip don't work the same, which means I would have to get a CVT.

    • @AutomotiveAnonymous208
      @AutomotiveAnonymous208  Před 3 měsíci +5

      I would say so! This 2.4 Turbo engine seems to be physically built much stronger than the previous VA gen or the old EJs. I think I’ve only drive 1 or 2 of the current generation WRX with the CVT (basically the same powertrain as my Outback Wilderness) and it was still very fun! You guys should definitely test drive one someday if that’s your dream. 😀

      @@AutomotiveAnonymous208Yes. I have a 2023 WRX Premium in ignition red. Compared to the Corolla GR and Honda Civic Type R, the WRX is under tuned from the factory. It can easily handle another 70 HP. But it’s just fine in stock form.

    • @nielsmeer
      @nielsmeer Před 2 měsíci

      I had a 2018 WRX with the manual. I think the specs said 6.2 0-60, so the new one is a little quicker with a manual. TBH, I got rid of it as I found it boring. 0-60 was only slightly faster than a 50 year old motorcycle I have and was no match for my newer bikes. While the MPG claimed 20 in city, I typically got about 15 or 16. It’s very loud in the car with little sound deadening, making a daily driver limited. Given the CVT is even worse on performance, I’d be cautious on considering that option here. To me, there are better options in cars with more performance, economy and daily driving comfort. Or get a bike & it will be even quicker and cheaper…

    The legacy sport feels like Subarus “secret” fast car. I work in the North American factory that makes all of our crosstreks, outbacks, ascents and legacies. One of my jobs is to run them on free rollers (which are a lot like dynos) and we bring it up to around 30 mph then floor it. That’s what made me look up the legacy sport 0-60, the speedometer just flies up and it feels like it’s actually going to jump off the rollers.
    TBH I’m not a big Subaru fan, I wouldn’t generally buy one (Not bad cars, no disrespect to people who love them) but the legacy sport is the exception, I really like them

    I love my 23’ Premium WRX. In my Dallas market, it made the most sense as Civic Si, GTI and Elentra N are market adjusted to be more expensive than the WRX. Only downside to me is fuel economy and premium fuel recommendation. I average about 25 mpg combined in daily driving. This car shines in the mid rpm range cutting through traffic with the responsive steering rack and planted feel. Very good visibility all around.

      @@MiNCRUM Nope. Now just for comparison my daily driver is a '15 Dodge Charger R/T with zero options on it. It has pretty much any info I want that I can easily scroll through: oil psi & temp, coolant temp, transmission temp, tire psi. This is a 9 year old car now - why couldn't Subaru do something like that today?
