I don't get it. Dealers in Vegas asking price on used (under $10k) Toyotas and Hondas for $3-$4k over KBB Dealer recommended price. And there are people in the lots looking. Good luck finding a Private Party sale on these cars.

Basically, "Things are more expensive than they used to be". It's the same trend as everything else. The difference is 20% of 3.50 and 20% of 55k is vastly different. Inflation is a killer... It's not that these cars cost more. It's that your dollar is worth less...

Loved my 1993 TA, drove it from Wash, to Texas, stayed for a year, then from texas to philly, stayed for a year, then from philly back to bellingham washington where I traded it in on a 1999 ford f250 sd 7.3l diesel. Did a lot of racing with it, I took out an entire camaro club in Waxahachie, Texas at the grudge matches. Beat a guy in a mustang in philly street racing, 3 times. Later found out he was a cop. Luckily for me he was a cop in neighboring new jersey. HAHA Needless to say, I have lots of fond memories of that TA.

For 29 grand, one really can't go wrong with a Forester. Best bang for your buck anywhere!

Everyone’s house doubled or tripled in value last few years. Most people are swimming in home equity, they can afford 2, 3 of these each.

FYI: Toyota has a new car pricing obligation. So, what a lot of these sleezy dealers do is lease the truck out to their employees, then turn around and sell them for whatever they want since it is technically a used car (so they don't have to abide by Toyota's new car pricing obligation).

It's a very attractive car. The styling is appealing and the color palette, at least for 2024, is quite good. Yes, it's not "fast," but for the price and the efficiency it offers it's not bad. I checked 0-60 times for some of my personal cars going through early adulthood, and it's on par. So I won't argue, since none of them had heated seats & steering wheel. They also didn't look as sporty either. As I am drifting towards early retirement(disability) and am just wanting to reduce my monthly financial burden, the Trax is looking better and better. Sure, it isn't as quick/powerful nor as practical as my current Maverick, it's nearly as efficient, and less expensive, too. ....actually, much better in city mpg. It's a trade-off I just might have to make; yet, I won't be giving up much in the way of options as it is affordably equipped to have almost the same features, but for less.

I'll keep my 2018 Platinum Diesel f150 until these dealerships implode. They can go f*ck themselves with these prices

All this freaking nonsense, and I bought a 2019 Civic SI three years ago for all of 28k, which was still overpriced by roughly five grand. These dealerships need to go under badly.

I tell ya, when the auto market crashes, its going to crash hard. The repercussions havemt hit yet for these dealerships. Once it crashes, within the next 2 years of the crash you will see dealerships shutting down and its going to be ugly for the dealerships. They are going to learn their lessons in a very crappy way. Yikes.

The problem always is people will buy this stuff. I was hoping when they were selling vehicles for 20k over msrp that everyone would have had some will power not to buy anything but people seemed to have no issue overpaying for them so it will continue until everyone stands up together and that will never happen

Personally, I would feel more comfortable a few years into a new generation cycle. But I hope you have good fortune with your new purchase. I have the 2023 Forester Wilderness and I absolutely love it. By the time mine sees any issues, maybe I think of upgrading to a new gen? Pre 9/11 trucks and suvs were much more reasonable. Not to mention gas was quite cheaper. Buying used with low miles seems the way to go.
