I love how it was "pokemon with guns!" but I just spend most of my time just vibing with my pals while working on stuff around the base
I chilled out with them and protected them WITH guns.
I felt like it was closer to 'cute ARK where your pets can walk around and participate rather than being locked standing in the same spot for a month.'
We went from catching colorful wild animals and forcing them to fight, to catching them and forcing them to do manual labor, work on plantations, and THEN forcing them fight. And eating them up if they fail. But at least we can SEE them doing stuff. AND they get guns. Top tier game, right here.
It's only the next logical step.

There is more than 1К pokemons in a national dex.
Not only are their more Pokémon that now come out yearly. It’s expansive and it’s a lot of work even for a large company. Palworld ripped off of someone else’s work almost verbatim and didn’t have to spend all of their time on the same world building. Also Pokémon is for kids. Adults just play it (like me bc we played as kids). It’s also a Nintendo game… a game system geared towards kids… like be for real. PAL world is on a different platform with different mechanics and it’s audience is adults 😐

@@Colourmechoco Honestly Palworld plays entirely uniquely and the more I look into it the better Palworld looks and the more I'm aware Pokemon ripped off...or doesn't own like Mythological characters or generic concepts like "it looks like a fox or a wolf". At this point I'm willing to say that Palworld is actually its own unique thing and in all honesty is more unique than pokemon is.

FYI they had pics of the pals before the release asking for community input for naming. The one that is now named like Foxicle or something was named by the community, I opted for Poledancer and I forget the other one...its like an ice fox thing...

@onebear6504 they really do tip toe the line tho. Found out it was the only way for them to make it in this industry. They call themselves a derivate company and have derivate law linked go their website so they're pretty open about it

Exactly, Nintendo would have stopped this in 2019 when it was announced if they could.
The fact that it exists and was released, already means Nintendo can do nothing and only said that to stop people spamming their inbox's.
I'm loving how all the Pals actually serve a purpose and DO things. Whereas Pokemon stay in a ball until it's battle time, where their statue-like model then proceed to just bounce and slide around to "Animate" their attacks.
Which looked fine when it was 2D & none of the pokemon were animated in battle. But then, they decided to animate them like haunted marionettes having a mild seizure. And then they decided to make 'em 3D. And the fans just kept refusing to tell them no.
@@D_YellowMadness Exactly. And even some of the later 2D games like Black and White had animated sprites that looked pretty good.
We've been staring at these same models with the same poses since the first 3DS game.
@@D_YellowMadness If they go back and make a mainline Pokemon 2D with some enhanced audio and visuals (where appropriate) I bet it would sell like hotcakes AND actually be pretty good. If they aren't willing to make a more "modern" Pokemon that matches the fidelity that the recent games have, then I think embracing and enhancing the 2D would be better.
I mean look at games like Octopath Tarveler. A Pokemon game using visuals like that would be sick. Plus I think not being 3D would actually allow them more room to breathe and be creative. Imagine a more expansive and deep secret base system that we used to have. Or some procedural dungeon/roguelike experience for players in the same vein as the Safari Zone but a bit more dangerous.

@@ROFLWAFFLELAWL4 pokemon's problem is not going 3D but going 3D and not changing anything gameplay wise. What is the point of going 3D but still the battle system and interaction are the same.
The amount of detail in the Pals' animations is what impresses me most, they all have custom animations for almost everything
Meanwhile Pokemon: "Best I can do is Twinkle tackle" (seriously Game Freak did you let the CEO's nephew animate this?!)
Depresso mining and Mossanda hammering are my favorites. Depresso just slowly and sullenly swinging the pick, and Mossanda holding a tiny hammer delicately between thumb and forefinger. :)

Nintendo is one of the most litigious companies on Earth. If they had any legal standing they would have nuked Palworld years ago when it was first revealed. That bit from Nintendo about legal action was specifically targeting a mod to add pokemon to the game.
Yup! The statement they made should basically be read as: "You guys... WE KNOW! Seriously, WE FREAKING KNOW! It's not that bad, and there's nothing we can do, so just STOP PESTERING US ABOUT IT, DAMMIT!"
They (The Pokemon Company, not Nintendo) probably could take them to court over some of the designs tbf, but it wouldn't be a clear open/shut case. And the outcome I am uncertain on what it would mean as it may just mean altering some of the designs slightly.

I don't think they would just be entitlted to the money from the game. They might get some money, but unlikely to be all of it. It'd be up to the courts to decide what (if any) damages have been incurred and decide a fair settlement from there.
I do love how everyone is talking about Nintendo sueing Palworld but despite the tons of videos of it, Nintendo actually isn't doing anything against palworld.
I suspect that's actually due to Microsoft. If they sue PP would likely sell out to MS to protect itself which is something Nintendo doesn't want because now MS owns Palworld. No matter how much money Nintendo has Microsoft has waaaay more, in the trillions. I mean they just casually bought Minecraft for like 3 billion dollars like it was pocket money.
Yeah, they couldn't do anything against Genshin. So looks like they are safe. It's weird who Nintendo decides to hunt down.

They put guns in Pokemon and nobody bats an eye.

I will admit, despite Stonetoss being an unironic nazi, that one comic was actually funny.
Sega can cope and seethe all they want, but the fundamental difference is that Palworld made a new IP and they didn't. Giving Batman a gun will always get someone criticized.
Maybe because it isn't Pokemon; it's the "Nintendo should make the next Pokemon game darker" crowd-pleaser knockoff.

Pokémon actually got at least an episode banned for pulling out guns which left fans wondering how Ash got a herd of Tauros, so who’s eye to bat? Makes sense being the only missed idea Game Freak hasn’t look back into besides capturing humans

similar designs aside, the amount of detail given to animations and the way better graphics puts GameFreak to shame

@@Pecisk That's not an issue considering Breath of the Wild and Mario Odyssey did just fine. Give GameFreak more than 1 year to develop a game and that will make all the difference. Sonic Frontiers is proof of that point if you understand their history with Sega.
@@GottaFistDemAll thank you. Finally- somebody understands that GF is trying the best they can with these stupid ass draconian whip cracking rules that TPC forces onto the poor guys. Words can’t express how bad I feel for GF. There’s clearly something amazing here in SV between the writing and it being even easier to dive into competitive battling (where I feel Pokemon is at its most fun). People wonder why anyone would defend GF- it’s because sensible ones realize they’re victims and not the true villains.

People can say what they will about the game but I want it to keep on trucking! Because honestly it is far past time we got something like this and it is a solid lil early access title! I mean I spent over a hundred hours in it so far.

People trying to give pokemon ownership of all of mythology and even basic animals. Anubis, Carbunkle, Ninetails, Chinese Dragons, ferrets, foxes, etc. And the irony here is that pokemon stole all its own ideas. Even its pokeball is just straight up a recolored version of the capsule from Robotreak. Red and white instead of orange and white.
OMG your right! I haven't played Secret of Mana since the SNES era but I can certainly see some of Flammie in Quivern's design.

Laughed my ass off at the stripper boots and Ethnic Lucario 😂 Also loved how they switched up the ending compared to their usual pokemon videos!
Most of which was wrong. For example Lucario and Anubis are based on Anubis. In the previous game by the devs of Palworld you turned in proof of accomplishments to the literal god Anubis to power up. In Palworld the Anubis Pal is the statue of power which you turn in items to power up. Whereas Lucario kept the Anubis basings more subtle the Palworld version was just like "yo, this is just cartoon Anubis". Its the same thing with alot of pokemon, for example Carbuncle and Ninetails are both straight up just Mythology. Chillet is an ice ferret, hence chillet. Not a water snake like Dratini. People trying to give Pokemon way WAY too much coverage as well as ownship of all of mythology lol.

The "Horse Reshiram" at 7:58 looks like one of the devs snuck their My Little Pony OC into the game.
To be fair to Palworld, like 90% of Pokemon are either elemental cartoon animals or are based off IRL myths, meaning that Pokemon doesn't have that much copyright protection over their own Pokemon since those Pokemon aren't entirely original/unique. You still cannot make an exact copy of one of their pokemon or use the names of thier pokemon, but if you create an elemental animal in a cartoon style then Nintendo can't really claim copyright infringement if yours is just similar in concept.
This might not apply to Pikachu BTW due to trademark laws if Nintendo/Gamefreak registered Pikachu as a trademark of their company.
The only one in danger of being changed is cremis who looks like eevee which is trademarked too.

They own copyright over every individual pokemon what are you talking about? You all also fail to understand a few things. This is not a parody, so its not protected. A copy mom doesnt have to be 100% a trace. Go draw Mickey and make his ears pointy and try and sell merch and a series and see what happens. Hes supposed to be public domain and it still wouldnt fly. Copyright laws are made to protect these large companies. Literally drafted for their benefits. They trademark other aspects of the designs once the trademark cant be extended. Thats how theyve been doing this for decades without a problem.
@@zachariahsmith9130 I didn't say this was parody. Even without the parody exception the copyright Nintendo/Gamefreak has over most of their Pokemon don't extend much further than depictions of animals/humaniods that are extremely similar or obvious modifications to the Pokemon that they created. Case in point: Digimon have some creatures that are similar looking to Pokemon but neither infringes on the copyright of the other since the Digimon/Pokemon that are similar are also based off stuff animals/myths that are considered public domain.
TL;DR: Nintendo/Gamefreak does not have the copyright to the concept of "a cartoonized elemental animal" or to the animals/myths that exist in the public domain that their Pokemon are based off of.
@aaronmccullers384 digimon and pokemon are similar only the monster name. I dunno how old you are but i grew up with these things and they were always seen as vastly different. Their designs aren't similar at all. Theres enough differences there. I love digimon btw. Digimon tamers is better than any season of pokemon. This has monsters in a capture device that look like literal pokemon designs and clearly inspired. It's not just like dog or cat. I don't know why it's hard for people to just acknowledge the obvious. I also don't hate palworld btw, i just don't think it's that great.

@@hazukichanx408I don't really see much indication that they are getting sued. All the quotes people point to are just "we are investigating and will take appropriate action". Appropriate action is almost certainly going to be either nothing or telling Pocket Pair to knock it off on the one or two details where they did cross the line. Nintendo took something like 2 days to take down the Pokemon Palworld mod. Meanwhile this game has been in development for years and been out for weeks, and they have done nothing. Just as they haven't done anything to Temtem (in fact, that game is available on the Switch).

It's crazy that this game has 11 million more hours played than Counter Strike 2 after a two month span.
I have no interest in Palworld. But I do hope that this means the Pokemon company puts in some damn effort. Or that we get more Monster catcher games in the future (preferably without guns etc).
@@user-ds8rj2vc4v i was also really sceptical about Palworld, all that hype and everything. Game looked like another genshin+pokemon combined. But i gived it a try. Now im addicted. So if you didnt tried it-give it a chance, game is much deeper and funnier than it looks.

1 - I have no issue with guns in games (they're not suitable for everyday people)
2 - I was clearly saying that I want a game that directly competes with Pokemon doing what Pokemon does, but better.
Palworlds has some Pokemon design ripoffs, but the gameplay itself is compeltely different. It's more of a survival game like Ark or Valheim etc, and not so much a monster catcher RPG.

Getting the Pokemon name pronunciation right is hard, but getting it wrong fits the theme here and enhances the experience.
There seems to be some confusion here, Game Concepts, Mechanics and Functional Elements are all NON-Copyrightable material.
Nintendo has no legal grounds to go after Palworld just because they have Pal-Balls for capturing creatures that look "inspired by" Pokemon;
This is all legal and Healthy, Competition. In fact it is how the gaming industries have evolved over the years to give us the games we love.
Nintendo will be better off trying to Sue Poke-One Creators for "Actually Using The Pokemon IP" and even selling micro-transactions because That is what copyright infringement is.
Or better yet, using the money they'd waste on lawsuits and pump it into their games since they've sucked ass for 15 years now.
@@SharpWits2013 You're right on the fact that Nintendo should just invest more in development. I still remember when Hey You Pikachu came out for N64, I thought that was going to be the future of Pokemon. They should really start keeping their innovations around instead of leaving them in the past.

Its so weird that people say they are fair use pokemon parodies. When you have over 1000 creatures made from animals combined with elements. Everything is going to look like one of them.
Tell that to all the fangames with more creative designs than this. I was willing to give Palworld the benefit of the doubt until now. This is the first footage I've seen of it. And I can say without hesitation that they didn't even try to be original in the designs.
I can't even pretend that they misrepresented the game. The video showed over 2 dozen different designs. More than half of them are just ripping off a Pokemon design. Even if this video was maliciously dishonest, just the possibility of misrepresenting the game to such a degree demonstrates that no real effort was put into coming up with designs.
Curiously, in Japan there are no Fair Use or parody laws, so it would be an even riskier move on the part of the company behind Palworld to do something like that if they weren't completely certain that Nintendo can't touch them.
But putting that aside, everyone knows that Game Freak invented the concept of animals, elements, and colors!!!!

I'm pretty sure even Nintendo understands they don't really have a case here.

They are clearly very aware of the matter and if they could do something, they would have done it by now, I think in fact they are already preparing Palworld merchandise at this point, so they seem to be quite confident with this.

Normally I love these skits but this one just felt like propaganda to stir people up.

No this is just throwing together a bunch of stuff from their previous games.
Usually that results in a total mess of a game, where the mechanics don't make sense with each other, the entire game feels bloated and unnecessarily finicky, and one obvious strategy dominates that renders the rest of the mechanics completely unnecessary.
If that is what they did, it seems like they used it as a challenge to force creativity instead of using it as a way to push out a shallow generic game. Sometimes, the dartboard strategy works because limitation breeds creativity.
Many games have done this to be fair. The difference is Palworld managed to make them all work together and makes the process streamlined enough to be fun.
I can only imagine how much fun they had coming up with the names.
"Drawing a Seal from Memory" was really, really funny. A few of the 'creatures' I've sketched out of memory would make terrible fodder for this game.
It turns out that becoming Team Rocket was way more fun than collecting 8 badges anyways.
