Hey Rough Rooster, I really appreciate all your sharpening tips, they've helped me progress past the lansky and I just started free hand sharpening a few weeks ago. Found your channel about a week ago & I knew first video I saw this guy is from TN lol, im a TN guy myself, live out in middle TN. Just wanted to extend firm handshakes and many thanks to all the gems you given on sharpening man and I'm still watching old vids.
I'm still learning from older videos lol. Im really thinking about getting a soft and black arkansas stone from dans and possibly spyderco uf. In the first video of burr removal you mentioned that it's not a good thing to go from a fine stone to even a decent compound strop? My first bench stones are dmt coarse 8 inch and spyderco medium/fine ceramic 8 inch, ive been using that progression and going to green knivesplus strop block is that wrong? Or did you mean like going from an ultra fine stone to strop?
Good morning Rough Rooster, I know I'm late to this sale. However, it doesn't hurt to ask. Do you kindly still have any excellent Translucent Arkansas sharpening stone? Please let me know when you get a chance. Thanks.
Awesome sale! If you are using the LED lights common now, which don't get hot, you might try to find something that is slightly transluscent, a sheet of paper or plastic that light will pass through, but something that is not clear. Even tracing paper, and put it over your light. I will diffuse the light and spread it out, and you might get better results. Just experiment with what you have, I'm struggling with the same problem, but my light is a 4 foot shop light above my head, and it is in our master bath, so wifey will have to be contended with in order for me to do something like that. I will figure it out eventually.
I have a question. Does best sharpening stones sell good Arkansas stones? I happen to get two of them black surgical and combination. Need to send back?
Well damn! Went to bed early last night and worked all day. Get home in the afternoon to set up a Venmo account, and then see this. Does "CLOSED CLOSED" mean they're all gone? After seeing that beautiful big Norton translucent I may cry. Actual tears.
@@roughroosterknifesharpenin5531 I know my last one was real but that was a 6" soft/hard. This one is coming direct from taylor toolworks. How do you tell the real from the fake?
I couldn't hear most of the video cuz I'm at work and it's loud. Will buy something when I can re-watch the video and hear the dimensions/price etc accurately.
To the Bitch that keeps disliking my videos....
Be a man and say something, stop being a keyboard coward.
And if it's not you don't comment.

Good man here. You can trust his word. And I’m pretty sure you mentioned you’d give me that translucent....didnt you? 😂

@@StingofTruth I can tell by looking at them. Hard to explain. I don't buy anything unless it's straight from Dan's
