If there wasn't footage of this defense, I would have had a hard time believing it. A U.S division teaming up with a Wehrmacht division to fight the ravenous SS.
I remember hearing that it was actually a single Tank destroyer posted outside the front gate but oh well.
That and the German officer was killed while trying to get one of the V.I.Ps to safer cover.
