Jimi admired Terry Kath of Chicago too. Glad I was able to see Rory in Chicago's Aragon Ballroom 1976 3 rows back front n center. A performance I still remember.
When Manolis Hiotis the father of 8 strings bouzouki went to play next store that Hendrix played, and Jimmy went after his day's ending, Jimmy answered to this question, "who is the best guitarist in this world said "Hiotis and his playing the greek instrument!!" I actually got to see him at a small bar in Michigan before he passed. My brother took me who was a huge fan what i couldn’t get over was his playing and he actually stood at the door and greeted everybody, shook their hand and thanked thanked them for coming like a preacher at church does for coming when leaving! A class act! There will never be another I will go to my grave with Rory I wish I was half and he was

A long time ago i Woke up in the middle of the night. I was maybe 9 years of age and always had a little transistor radio on my pillow. I wole up with this song. My all time Hero❤️🇮🇪

I was fortunate to have seen Rory in concert so many times......I loved the guys enthusiasm for performing to the crowd. It was not unusual for him to do five or more Encores.....on one occasion he stated that he'd play all night, but he had to think about the Band being tired.....and the Management of the venue that was waiting to go home!
A truly great performer who really gave it his all.......Rest in Peace Rory, and thank you so much for those wonderful nights!

What a beautiful man Rory Gallagher was, and still is; his music is real. His talent is exceptional . He is an extraordinary soul. r.i.p.Rory.....Gone, but always remembered!
I got to meet him once, but I never got the chance to see him live. Apparently, the owner of The Moor Lane pub in Cashel, Co. Tipperary was an old friend of his, and he arranged for him to drop in and catch my act. I honestly didn't even recognize him at first because he was quite overweight, had yellow, jaundiced skin and was wearing a bushy beard. He paid me quite a compliment on my playing, but then he had to hit the road.
The one and only time he played anywhere near me was the following year in Cork, and I couldn't attend because my band had a steady, good paying gig that night, and pulling a no-show would've cost us the gig. I was heartbroken when he passed away suddenly a year later.

I saw him once for my birthday I treated myself to the most memorable concert.

Back in the day, Rory's audience was something like 95% young lads. Odd now that girls who weren't even or were barely born when he was gigging should be so enamoured of him. Odd, but not in a bad way. Rather sweet actually.

@ Vince Razzano.....The reason you didn't hear Rory on the radio is quite simple. He wasn't seeking fame or fortune, his love was composing his wonderful music and taking it to his audiences. Rory was one of those artists that you learned of (more often than not) through word of mouth unless perhaps, you were also a musician. He had NO wish to make singles or (God forbid) become mainstream.

Linda Jones my boss and basically mentor is an old head and he told me about Rory recently and it opened my eyes to an era of musicians that i hadnt heard of or, had heard but never knew their name. Also gained even more respect to my boss for having appreciation for music like he does.
His tour was announced and the fans bought tickets. As simple as that. Everyone knew they'd have a great night and would hear old songs played in new ways. They had a great night and went home hoping to get a ticket for his next visit to their town. Oh, and they told their friends about the gig.
Excellent comment!!! Rory was more concerned with the music and the fans which I for one loved!! It seems the critics didn't like his first album. Don't know why because I LOVE it so much! Fantastic heartfelt playing!!!!! 😀❤️❤️

if you look further or if youre even interested,rory was huge in europe while touring away from ireland..we had 3.5 million people in ireland, europe had a population of a whole lot more than 3.5...i hope this helps...
