it was considered THE benchmark of a good guitar player to be able to play this tune in the 1960's and Burt Jantz, the Beatles, & the 'Stones and so many others recorded this! Davey's version though I still think is the best!

This iconic song indirectly led to the inspiration for another iconic song. 'This Flight Tonight' from "Blue" (1971) by Joni Mitchell led to the Nazareth version from "Loud 'n' Proud" (1973), the riff of which inspired 'Barracuda' from "Little Queen" (1977) by Heart.

A song first recorded in 1966 I believe. This is the US edition of the song which was first recorded for the album "Bert And John", released in the UK as Transatlantic Records TRA 144. It is track 7 (the first song on side two, seventh overall) on this US album, released on the Vanguard label in 1968 - NOT 1969, as stated here. A beautifully serene instrumental by two masters of their craft. Deservedly hallowed and much missed by those in the know.

That bottom string is tuned an octave below the 5th string. I use a .070 electric string. Flaps around like a pair of bell bottomed pants.

The Nazareth version is one of my favourite songs of all time. I love this original version, especially the fantastic acoustic guitar, plus Joni's vocals are always amazing :)
