    Just be sure to remove your brake fluid reservoir cap prior to compressing your caliper back. This will prevent any spill over from fluid being pushed back up and into the system when the piston is pushed back. Just my experience and something I do every time.

    I love the fact that he actually showed the way to turn the bolts in order to remove them, a very critical point when changing brakes. Some trucks/cars are lefty loosely and righty tighty” but on a lot of newer models it’s totally the opposite rediculous..” Cheers mate 😎

    Great videos. Thanks for the thoroughness. One suggestion is where in the video, you use pliers to grab the guide pin hex head while removing the guide pin bolt. That hex head has a very thin flange around it that the pliers will damage. You need a 17mm open end wrench that’s less than 7mm thick to properly hold the hex head on the guide pin. I found a cheap wrench at the auto parts store that worked perfectly. The more expensive wrenches were much thicker. In this case, cheaper was better.

    After watching this video and completing my front break job I would recommend anyone with basic tools do this own their own. Parts front autozone was $144 for two rotors and four break pads and liquid and Grease. Compared to Firestone quote of 500

    Have a question, how come when you compress the pistons in the caliper that you don’t go ahead and bleed out the old brake fluid that’s trapped in there instead of just making it go back up into the master cylinder? Also shouldn’t you bleed each tire after you do a brake job on it?

    • @rydergraydon8175
      @rydergraydon8175 Před 2 lety +6

      Well depends on how bad the brake fluid looks, if bad then flush, but if its fine then no need, and brakes dont have to be bled after a brake job because the was never a moment air could of gotten in, hope that helps

    • @brianandlynphilippines
      @brianandlynphilippines Před 2 lety +1

      Be safe, replace the rotors. I am changing my 2013 brakes the 1st time, 9 years of braking. I am not even asking, just logical to change them out if you can afford it.

    • @errdayimhustlin
      @errdayimhustlin Před 2 lety +1

      You do not to change them every time you change pads. You do however need to be mindful of the condition of the rotors. As they become too thin, they are warped my heat. This can lead to noisy brakes, less braking power, and ride quality issues that may affect other parts of your car!

    @richleskovec4075 Před 4 lety +4

    It always is amazing when I see guys doing brake jobs on any video and they just "slip in the pads and they slide". Every time over many years I have done brakes, I have to grind the shit out of the new pads tabs and/or the slide channel for them to truly "slide" freely and screw around with the new hardware. (And yes i wire wheel the rust and clean the caliper bracket) The videos always skip this part and I know in many cases you have to do this. Mechanic I know says he has to do it a fair amount of the time. I am just doing my 15 Dodge Ram now and the rattle clips don't even fit the damn bracket channel, and no, they are not cheapo replacement brake pads
