This pastor was a old school teacher and this type of disaplend was accepted back in the day. I grew up in this type of church, many of the teaching and disaplinary actions were not biblical but many times it keep people on the strait and narrow. I remender over 17 years ago my former church giving my family a letter of release for our current church. I believe Some of these old school displinary action and teaching are needed in today churches. Too many churches and church leaderships have become too wild and worldly.

He knows something of this woman obviously. I have seen this happen in service with members who take medication & have other issues. It is a challenging issue. It also sounds like others in that particular church knows of her as well. This is a very hard situation to handle & I am sure other churches have to deal with these types of things.

I hate to say this but some folks DO need a letter from their previous pastors! Because my own cousin is one of them! He causes all kinds of chaos and drama every church he joins!! Guys, just for some clarification, the bishop/pastor in this video, he is deceased, he died and passed away a couple years ago, around the time that the COVID-19 Pandemic started easing up, like I think in either 2022 or 2023, I can't remember exactly when but I do know he is deceased now. But the story behind this video was that that woman apparently had some mental/psychological issues she was struggling with, and it was causing her to act out in certain ways where the Mother Wilson lady and the Brother Derrick Wilson (?) guy that he was referring to, kept feeling like they were being harassed by her. So the Bishop/Pastor in this video took the opportunity to kinda put her on blast and put her on the spot because the members of the church were accusing her of harassing them while she was there that Sunday. That's the whole context of this video, because this video actually did go viral a few years ago; it's not a new video lol. And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that that's an excuse for the way he acted towards her because I do agree, I feel like he was wrong for the way he handled it, but I'm just saying this video is kind of old now. His church is under new leadership now since he's deceased.

This is a personality issue. No ne has to submit themselves to this sort of personality. When we see it we understand more of how we want to move with God. Some folks love this kind of authority over them, as it makes them feel a certain sense.
A letter from another church that will issue one is to make sure you are in good standing with the church you are leaving. If you aren’t in good standing you will need to make things right with that church before coming to this church. And there is nothing you can do legally if the church’s bylaws state this is how it is done
This is how it used to be done but also it let's the former church know that they no longer have oversight for your soul and you are under someone else's authority to hopefully continue your growth and walk with Jesus. Oftentimes, in Paul's letters, he would tell the church that he was writing to receive brother or sister in the Lord (Phoebe being an example). He explained their common faith and their service to Christ and the Body.

I know Bishop J. Delano Ellis. He is very forward with everyone he speaks to. But if this woman was really as unstable as you say that she was, then that is even more of a reason why you should use some grace when instructing her. Talking to her like a child is not going to make her stable. Take her to the side with some holy mothers and explain your position to her. I grew up under pastors who behave like this, and they tend to run off more people than they brought in.

However, I can comment all day on this clip on what I think, but I really don't know what truly occurred to really to make a judgement call if he was right or not. Looking at it I can see how anyone can get offended by this. I personally believe from seeing other videos of this preacher that he is full of wisdom and knowledge. This is old. I agree it should have been done away from the congregation. I'm not mad at him watching who comes in the fold, though. You can absolutely tell that he knew about her issues. I think we pass down things and think because that is how it was done back in the day then it must have been proper. Everything doesn't need to be broadcast.

This is a personality issue. No ne has to submit themselves to this sort of personality. When we see it we understand more of how we want to move with God. Some folks love this kind of authority over them, as it makes them feel a certain sense.

A letter from another church that will issue one is to make sure you are in good standing with the church you are leaving. If you aren’t in good standing you will need to make things right with that church before coming to this church. And there is nothing you can do legally if the church’s bylaws state this is how it is done
Yep, that’s exactly how most churches around my area still do it.
This has always been protocol.
This is how it used to be done but also it let's the former church know that they no longer have oversight for your soul and you are under someone else's authority to hopefully continue your growth and walk with Jesus. Oftentimes, in Paul's letters, he would tell the church that he was writing to receive brother or sister in the Lord (Phoebe being an example). He explained their common faith and their service to Christ and the Body.

My former pastor and Bishop Ellis were close and he’d visit our church from time to time. He was FUNNY and had stories for days. He kept us laughing. I don’t agree with a lot that goes on in charismatic churches, including stuff like this, and I’ve since moved on. This was pretty bad, but he was a good guy. And honestly, the saints had worn lots of these preachers down and many of them needed to retire or at least take lengthy sabbaticals. 😂😂 Rest in peace Bishop.

I know Bishop J. Delano Ellis. He is very forward with everyone he speaks to. But if this woman was really as unstable as you say that she was, then that is even more of a reason why you should use some grace when instructing her. Talking to her like a child is not going to make her stable. Take her to the side with some holy mothers and explain your position to her. I grew up under pastors who behave like this, and they tend to run off more people than they brought in.

I've been looking for this video since 2010! I'm only heard it through audio. Many content creators made parodies from this video. Well Bishop Ellis was the pastor of the church and he died a few years ago....he was always straight forward. He said what he meant, and he meant what he said
I know of Bishop Ellis, but I don't personally know him. However, I can comment all day on this clip on what I think, but I really don't know what truly occurred to really to make a judgement call if he was right or not. Looking at it I can see how anyone can get offended by this. I personally believe from seeing other videos of this preacher that he is full of wisdom and knowledge. I can and must agree we all can make mistakes and maybe not handle everything the right way. It's obvious he knows who this lady is and it seems like he is aware of things that has been going forth or maybe being stirred up from this women. That's just my thoughts and opinion. I don't know, but I also know that their are individuals who come into churches and stir up or cause problems and as a Shepard He has to handle that or put a stop to that. She didn't appear offended at all. She appears to knows Bishop Ellis, evidently she knows the church since we is liking on a man and calling the church mother. My point is she knows how Bishop Ellis operates. From what I gathered his is a funny man and he can be stern at the same time. I believe the Pastor knew about this young lady and has enquired about her from the Pastor of her current church. It appears to me that things may have been occurring within Bishop Ellis church and if this is true then he has a right to speak about it publicly. Again this is his church and I don't have to attend it if I don't like how he Pastors or operates.
