      And on top of that you should never stop attend church because you don't want to be corrected buy your pastor yes sometimes your pastor ain't perfect but at the same time if this is the person that God put in your life to lead you out of bondage and also trying to do what God told him to do as in giving you the message so you can work on getting right with the Lord then you should listen because at the end of the day he will have to give a count to God on why he didn't do x y and z so I say that you should do your best to respect your pastor because God ordained him or her to lead you on to the lord

I would argue men are supposed to be spiritual leaders, and should be held to a higher standard even if they're still boys and aren't yet married to, or are in an adult relationship with the girl. Women and girls need to act appropriately in and outside the church, but boys and men need to set the example and lead the way.

    As a serious student of the Word, using my phone as a Bible has been a game-changer when listening to sermons in church. Having immediate access to the Hebrew and Greek study tools allows me to verify the points that are being made by the preacher, recognize thematic connections, better understand the passages, and interact more effectively with the text. When a preacher has not done his job (drawing out and applying what is in the text), I can use the phone to do that myself, and simultaneously interact with his points, instead of sitting there bored and wishing there was some meat to chew on. I would not attend a church that prohibited cell phones. Instead of making legalistic, man-made rules about phones, or insulting the intelligence of people who bring them, churches should be training people to use their phones properly for the immense benefits they offer, and also turn off notifications, and just exercise some very simple self-control. It's not that difficult, and if it is, make rules for the people who need them, not against the people who actually benefit from using an available tool.

      We did just fine without cell phones in the past. I don’t even use commentaries anymore. The only One who knows how to rightly divide The Word of Truth, is the Spirit of Truth…The Holy Spirit! The author Himself.❤

    • @ashtonians
      @ashtonians Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@michelleruffin6903 I do not disagree. I have also learned that the Holy Spirit often confirms things to us through other believers, both present and historical (including the Biblical authors themselves, right? After all, He used human agency in giving us the Bible, i.e., He did not speak the words to us audibly from the heavens, at least in most cases), and I have also found the likelihood of hearing Him incorrectly is magnified when I am studying in isolation. Moreover, how is the Holy Spirit to help us "rightly divide" if we have not done the part He commanded earlier in that verse as a prerquisite: "Study to show yourself approved"? Understanding historical context, original languages, etc. is one side of the equation; praying and seeking the Spirit's direction is the other.

      I love being able to easily look at the hebrew/greek words, and have more understanding on what is being said.
      Phones have both positives and negatives.
      Just like, the preacher uses a "one liner" without context, you can google search the 'one liner' and find out both where in the scripture it's from AND what the surrounding context of it is.
      Preachers way too often use one-liners completely out of their actual meaning in context of the surrounding text.

When you are in the house of God and in worship of him, treat him as holy....and before all people he must be glorified (Leviticus 10:3).

    Whatever the situation was here, I gotta think there are more effective ways to correct this behavior than an angry rant from the pulpit. That feels a bit self-indulgent and lazy.

I'm sick of us thinking that the Church is supposed to allow all types of shenanigans in the name of "the church is a hospital" crap. The Church is the Bride of Christ! many pastors will not do this because they are counting money;meaning,every person coming to the church is a financial deposit.Therfore if they rebuke certain people and they dont come back the money count is less and bills have to be paid, be it rent mortgage.deacons salary,utility.. This is bad for their business as the church now has a decline in membership and the people who left starts bad mouthing the pastor to the community this equal no new members..This is the reason the false pastors are not taking a stance on sin and calling out the sinful to observe righteousness.

    I wouldn't have come back as a youth. I think back to my childhood and teenage years and I mean most of the time I was only in church because of family or friends. That's something preachers also have to take into consideration. Most of these young people are only there because they have to be and not because they're actually saved. Otherwise they wouldn't be acting out like that or having their attention elsewhere. I mean, goodness, I brought Harry Potter books in the church with me and most of the time took naps during the preaching. Now would I do that as a born again Christian? Never! But that was before I was saved.
    I just think he could've handled this differently instead of going off and calling people out. He could've prepared a sermon for another service to address that issue. He could've talked privately to the parents and given his youth Pastor the opportunity to also address this issue with the teens. There's so many ways he could've gone about this than how he chose to in the end. You're not really going to hear someone when they're yelling at you. And instead of inviting holy conviction, it invites condemnation. But that's just my two cents.
