I came to know Christ in jail in 2013 by reading a book, "Overcoming spiritual blindness" by James P. Gills MD. The veil was taken off my eyes. Heaven came through for me. The comments had nothing to do with doctrine. He wasn't saying individual people can't correct them, I think he was mainly saying all denominations have their issues.

Do you ever pray for people and also remind your viewers to pray for those you willfully call out in every one of your videos? No one is perfect sir. I’m not taking up for these individuals cause I do believe some of the things they do and say is outlandish. Does the Bible warn us about these people? Absolutely. That’s why we should be encouraged to pray for them vs you leaving it on the viewers minds of you talking about and calling someone out.
I honestly think context matters here and if he’s referring to the inner workings (charter, board, discipline, etc) of COGIC he is right. It may interest me, but, at the end of the day you have to be a member to really affect change. The same as it relates to the ongoing power struggle within the Southern Baptist. I can read and talk about it, but, only the members have the power to vote and decide the future of the organization. Now if he’s referring to criticism of their doctrine or his public statements as the leader of COGIC - miss me on that Bishop. People comment on this woke Pope whether Catholic or not when he goes off the rails. And people outside of COGIC had every right to respond to your association with the Latter Day Saints. You can’t have it both ways. You want to post videos of things you say as a leader but don’t want people to respond. Sorry it doesn’t work that way.
I remember when a COGIC moved away from there foundational teaching 35 years ago. One of the extremely well known Bishops and his wife went on vacation and returned showing photos pants on. Many women said if she can wear pants, we can too. Leaders you and your wife's and husbands people are watching you!
I'm COGIC myself, but at the same time, we're not called as Christian believers to idolize our church denominations or leaders. No one is above reproof and correction, because none of us and no Christian church organization is perfect or sinless. Only Christ Jesus/God is, so therefore even if a church leader or church organization is "Biblical," or "legitimate" or "good" or "genuine" we still have to call them out and correct them on their errors and recognize them when we see them. And don't get me wrong, like I said I'm a COGIC member myself and I love COGIC but I can't endorse or approve or agree with every single thing our COGIC leaders do. Wrong is wrong and we have to be willing to criticize wrongdoing as necessary when we recognize it and see it.
Let it be known I actually agree with you completely on this one. It is the business of the body of Christ, not just COGIC. We are all claiming to hold up the blood stained banner
The way I took that statement was not that COGIC is above reproach (clearly it is not), but I took it as what was said earlier: sweep around your own front door first. Also, he preceded it by saying he was gonna get in trouble for saying what he said. That told me it was gonna be Drew, not Jesus. My grandfather said it this way: learn to eat the fish and spit out the bones.
I remember I asked for a BIBLICAL reference to support the supervisoe and superintendent positions in COGIC, and I was told very harshly to just "grow up in the Lord" and "stop asking questions".

Yes. We should be concerned about each other if we are truly part of the Body of Christ. I truly believe you all misunderstood what he meant. Listen again to what he said, he was only addressing denominations talking NEGATIVELY about COGIC in his "mind your business" statement. In his message, he stated he's aware that COGIC needs help, but not condemnation and/or judgement from others since ALL these man-made denominations have issues. At the end of the day, we are to pray for, encourage and support the Body of Christ and this fact is what matters. I am praying that the day will come when we no longer feel the need to segregate ourselves via denominations anyway. As a result, instead of CONDEMNING Bishop Sheard, why not do what the Bible says and PRAY for him!

My take. I don’t he was indicating in his “we got this” comment he didn’t feel that he and his denomination shouldn’t be subject to reproof. I believe he said it because those critics of the COGIC denomination are criticizing not to help improve the denomination, but because that criticism comes from a general animosity towards that denomination and the black church in general.
We are to judge by scripture, not the heart of a person (even though God) can reveal the heart. No denomination is above the bible/scripture. No denomination is above any other. There is only 1 body. We need to look at what the scriptures say in terms of what we do & say.
I listened to the whole message but I did NOT like this part and I knew this would be a topic at some point. We must STOP the clicks and groups and focus on Kingdom work in unity across denominations, period🎯 There will be no COGIC section, PAW section, Full Gospel section in heaven...
Is your reason for not fellowshipping with the mornons because they do not believe what we believe being christians? I assume so. Does that same go from denomination to denomination? There are some denominations who believe in baptism with water, some dont but in the end some put their faith in works to be saved when an informed christian knows that only through belief in christ and what he did can you be saved. Do you also believe that we cannot collaborate or fellowship with Jews also?
Christ said He would bring His sheep (followers) together into one sheep pen (body), and we would be one flock and have one shepherd (the Lord Jesus Himself). If we are one, we are to be concerned for one another. Let us not make the mistake of thinking like Cain, who asked God if he is his brother's keeper. Christ makes it clear that we are our brother's keeper, meaning that regardless of where we worship, if we have a common faith in Christ, we ought to care for one another, and that also means, caring for making sure they believe the Truth, and not the misunderstandings and misinterpretations of men.

I grew up COGIC, my uncle was a Bishop for many years until he passed, my father is Pastor as well. But theres a lot of cracks in the old COGIC church as we know it. We were taught there was no other way to God but by the doctrines we were taught. They controlled how you looked, how you dressed, your whole demeanor had to be a certain way, and it was like a cult. We sang a very popular made-up song " You can not join in, you got to be born in, this is the COGIC." we believed everyone was going to hell except us. Everything was about politics! But I don't care how long those dresses are, or how many lamp shade hats those missionaries wear or how long their hair is with their plain face, no makeup, wearing selves. If your heart isn't right, and you just mean and evil, you need to repent and ask God to change your attitude! COGIC ppl can be some of the meanest & nastiest ppl to deal with. They acted saved at church but wore a different face at home. My mother and father were very judgemental and distorted my view of God by manipulating us into thinking God was always mad at us. And used the word to control and instill fear. It wasn't until I got away from them and away from that denomination that God was able to show me just how much He loved me despite my faults. COGIC needs to turn back to God, there is all kinds of unnatural sinful things going on the body of Christ, but nobody wants to talk about it. But God sees all and knows all. No one is exempt.
Bishop Sheard is still working with the Church of Latter Day Saints. Just not as a full organization. My mother attends COGIC and they have started to us Mormons for food to supply the community.

Do you ever pray for people and also remind your viewers to pray for those you willfully call out in every one of your videos? No one is perfect sir. I’m not taking up for these individuals cause I do believe some of the things they do and say is outlandish. Does the Bible warn us about these people? Absolutely. I honestly think context matters here and if he’s referring to the inner workings (charter, board, discipline, etc) of COGIC he is right. It may interest me, but, at the end of the day you have to be a member to really affect change. The same as it relates to the ongoing power struggle within the Southern Baptist. I can read and talk about it, but, only the members have the power to vote and decide the future of the organization.
Now if he’s referring to criticism of their doctrine or his public statements as the leader of COGIC - miss me on that Bishop. People comment on this woke Pope whether Catholic or not when he goes off the rails. And people outside of COGIC had every right to respond to your association with the Latter Day Saints. You can’t have it both ways. You want to post videos of things you say as a leader but don’t want people to respond. Sorry it doesn’t work that way.

I remember when a COGIC moved away from there foundational teaching 35 years ago. One of the extremely well known Bishops and his wife went on vacation and returned showing photos pants on. I'm COGIC myself, but at the same time, we're not called as Christian believers to idolize our church denominations or leaders. No one is above reproof and correction, because none of us and no Christian church organization is perfect or sinless. Only Christ Jesus/God is, so therefore even if a church leader or church organization is "Biblical," or "legitimate" or "good" or "genuine" we still have to call them out and correct them on their errors and recognize them when we see them. And don't get me wrong, like I said I'm a COGIC member myself and I love COGIC but I can't endorse or approve or agree with every single thing our COGIC leaders do. Wrong is wrong and we have to be willing to criticize wrongdoing as necessary when we recognize it and see it.
Let it be known I actually agree with you completely on this one. It is the business of the body of Christ, not just COGIC. We are all claiming to hold up the blood stained banner
The way I took that statement was not that COGIC is above reproach (clearly it is not), but I took it as what was said earlier: sweep around your own front door first. Also, he preceded it by saying he was gonna get in trouble for saying what he said. That told me it was gonna be Drew, not Jesus. My grandfather said it this way: learn to eat the fish and spit out the bones.

I remember I asked for a BIBLICAL reference to support the supervisoe and superintendent positions in COGIC, and I was told very harshly to just "grow up in the Lord" and "stop asking questions".

Yes. We should be concerned about each other if we are truly part of the Body of Christ. I truly believe you all misunderstood what he meant. Listen again to what he said, he was only addressing denominations talking NEGATIVELY about COGIC in his "mind your business" statement. In his message, he stated he's aware that COGIC needs help, but not condemnation and/or judgement from others since ALL these man-made denominations have issues. At the end of the day, we are to pray for, encourage and support the Body of Christ and this fact is what matters. I am praying that the day will come when we no longer feel the need to segregate ourselves via denominations anyway. As a result, instead of CONDEMNING Bishop Sheard, why not do what the Bible says and PRAY for him!

My take. I don’t he was indicating in his “we got this” comment he didn’t feel that he and his denomination shouldn’t be subject to reproof. I believe he said it because those critics of the COGIC denomination are criticizing not to help improve the denomination, but because that criticism comes from a general animosity towards that denomination and the black church in general.
We are to judge by scripture, not the heart of a person (even though God) can reveal the heart.
No denomination is above the bible/scripture.
No denomination is above any other. There is only 1 body.
We need to look at what the scriptures say in terms of what we do & say.

Is your reason for not fellowshipping with the mornons because they do not believe what we believe being christians? I assume so. Does that same go from denomination to denomination? There are some denominations who believe in baptism with water, some dont but in the end some put their faith in works to be saved when an informed christian knows that only through belief in christ and what he did can you be saved. Do you also believe that we cannot collaborate or fellowship with Jews also?
Christ said He would bring His sheep (followers) together into one sheep pen (body), and we would be one flock and have one shepherd (the Lord Jesus Himself). If we are one, we are to be concerned for one another. Let us not make the mistake of thinking like Cain, who asked God if he is his brother's keeper. Christ makes it clear that we are our brother's keeper, meaning that regardless of where we worship, if we have a common faith in Christ, we ought to care for one another, and that also means, caring for making sure they believe the Truth, and not the misunderstandings and misinterpretations of men.

I grew up COGIC, my uncle was a Bishop for many years until he passed, my father is Pastor as well. But theres a lot of cracks in the old COGIC church as we know it. We were taught there was no other way to God but by the doctrines we were taught. They controlled how you looked, how you dressed, your whole demeanor had to be a certain way, and it was like a cult. We sang a very popular made-up song " You can not join in, you got to be born in, this is the COGIC." we believed everyone was going to hell except us. Everything was about politics! But I don't care how long those dresses are, or how many lamp shade hats those missionaries wear or how long their hair is with their plain face, no makeup, wearing selves. If your heart isn't right, and you just mean and evil, you need to repent and ask God to change your attitude! COGIC ppl can be some of the meanest & nastiest ppl to deal with. They acted saved at church but wore a different face at home. My mother and father were very judgemental and distorted my view of God by manipulating us into thinking God was always mad at us. And used the word to control and instill fear. It wasn't until I got away from them and away from that denomination that God was able to show me just how much He loved me despite my faults. COGIC needs to turn back to God, there is all kinds of unnatural sinful things going on the body of Christ, but nobody wants to talk about it. But God sees all and knows all. No one is exempt.

Bishop Sheard is still working with the Church of Latter Day Saints. Just not as a full organization. My mother attends COGIC and they have started to us Mormons for food to supply the community.
