  • For most people, profanity - using the name of God flippantly or as a curse word - is the only way we can break the Third Commandment against taking God’s name in vain. In this episode, I will share with you four more ways we can actually “take God’s name in vain.” And the fifth and last point may surprise you. Let’s discuss.

Pastor, Shalom and Love from a relatively new subscriber. Since I found your channel, I have listened to many of your messages and hold you in high esteem. I have followed Him 70 yrs and do hear from Yahweh in night season dreams, since a young child. (I did not hear so often when my husband was living, but before and now as widow, frequently.) I sometimes tell to a close friend trying to discern His meaning, often gaining insight by hearing myself use certain words or phrases to describe what I saw. I know throughout Scripture, Old and New Testaments, God spoke to believers and to unbelievers by this manner, even saying in 3 different Books He would in pour out His Spirit on all flesh in this manner in the end times. I do not have a pride about this and never told for gain, or vanity. (Of course, my parents and siblings(7) know as I experienced from a young age. I love it very much hearingvthis way, and would be sad and very much the poorer in every way if He stopped. So, my question is, are you against dreams, or are you speaking of those who use them for a false purpose? I do not think you could mean to come against hearing truly in this manner. Thank you in advance for your response. Shabbat Shalom.

    Yahweh is salvation
The Hebrew and Aramaic name "Yeshua", Jesus, is a late form of the Hebrew "Yehoshua", and was a very common name during the first century. The meaning of the name Yeshua is "Yahweh is salvation", or "Yahweh saves", and is alluded to in Matthew 1:21 and Luke 2:21.

"To take (up)" and "in vain" are from one single Hebrew root √נ-ש-א. It's interesting.

Well taking the lord's name in vain, it's not just cussing. In fact cussing is not really taking the lord's name in vain because if you were really a Christian you would not use the lord's name in that manner. It's just like if somebody worships balle it says Jesus Christ well they're not taking his name in vain because they don't believe in him. I'll tell you who does take his name in vain and on a regular basis, those that wave the flag and clean to worship the one and true living God, but constantly preach hate, bigotry, indulge in sexual misconduct and point the finger at everyone else. Sound familiar. They hate the brothers that they see and claim to love God they cannot see. Sound familiar. The outlaw feeding the hungry, giving the homeless help. Sound familiar. These are the people who really take the lord's name in vain. Don't believe me, check it out for yourself. The Hebrew word is closely related to represent. When you go out in the street you represent your family's name, got it now?
