  • Should you celebrate Valentine’s Day? Since God is love, most people - including many professing Christians - believe that there’s nothing wrong with expressing their love on Valentine’s Day. Saints like Valentine are one of the steps to set the church up as an idol of authority that is above the individual relationship with God. This step was to distort godly love, and godly marriage, with a mortal lesser love by giving it undue honor. The preceding steps were councils to establish apostate doctrine like the immateriality and completely other character attributed to God by people, enshrined as the doctrine of the Trinity, as the definition of divinity. With God farther and more obscured they focused on the deeds of people, materials, and mortal authority as the top of their hierarchy, a constructed idol. It is the making of a counterfeit idol to usurp the relationship with God anyone can gain if they seek His mercy directly. The church is only established to guide people to that relationship not take ownership and false authority of the key individual relationship with God. Any truth about Christ is real godly love, so share the truth of Christ and love will grow! True Love is Jesus!

    I hear a lot of legalism here. And a lot of assumptions that are applied widely, but not necessarily accurately. As a faithful husband to my wife of nearly 50 years, we simply remember our faithful, Christian love for each other on Valentine's Day. We have no association with Lustful Pagan practices or illicit sexuality. Romance between a husband and wife is a gift that God has blessed. The speaker (and anyone who just accepts this without discernment) should read and study the Song of Solomon. The speaker uses a lot of scripture - which is absolutely TRUE - but I believe he is applying these incorrectly. I am a TRUE CHRISTIAN - born again - and I *do* celebrate Valentine's day. Jesus came to set us free from sin, including the sin of legalism. Now we all see dimly - one Day, the Lord will show us everything clearly. Until then, may we exercise that discernment which the Holy Spirit gives us. Grace & Peace to my brothers and sisters in Christ. Marana-tha.

    Is mother day a pagan celebration as well? Is celebrating your birthday a pagan holiday? What other celebrations are pagan?

    • @BiblicalTruths
      @BiblicalTruths  Před 2 lety +3

      The Bible commands us to honor our parents (Exodus 20:12). And as far as we know, Mother's Day is not a pagan celebration. So it's OK to show love, honor and respect to our mothers (and fathers on Father's Day). Regarding birthdays, we don't see God's people in the Bible celebrating their birthdays. The only two birthday celebrations mentioned in the Bible are those of pagans - the Pharoah (Genesis 40:20) and Herod (Matthew 14:6). On both occasions, someone died. However, it is not wrong to have a relatively simple meal to give God thanks on the anniversary of our birth. But to make a big deal out of it by celebrating it is not taught in Scripture, either by precept or example. Every additional year that we live is a gift from God. It is not a personal accomplishment. Other popular pagan celebrations are Easter, Halloween and Christmas. We have produced videos and articles on these as well.

      We don't see God's people in the Bible celebrating their birthdays. The only two birthday celebrations mentioned in the Bible are those of pagans - the Pharoah (Genesis 40:20) and Herod (Matthew 14:6). On both occasions, someone died. Please don't get me wrong. It is NOT wrong to have a relatively simple meal to give God thanks on the anniversary of our birth. But to make a big deal out of it by throwing a huge party where the focus is on SELF is not taught anywhere in Scripture, either by precept or by example. Every additional year we live is by His grace - it is a gift from God. It is not a personal accomplishment.

    Hmmm I understand not following pagan practices, but recognising God-given romantic love any day, even on Valentine’s Day, by performing non-pagan and enjoying Godly things such as flowers, food, quality time, isn’t automatically wrong because on the same day there was a pagan holiday on which pagan rituals were performed.
    It almost sounds like you should be able to give flowers and gifts and doing nice and thoughtful things for your loved ones everyday except for specifically on Valentines Day, and avoid those things on that day because people used to perform pagan rituals on that day. But if that’s the case, there will always be a pagan history on most days throughout the year because this world has been given over to that in general… so does that mean we must always limit celebrating good things in good ways to days that historically didn’t pagans didn’t use for their own things?
    I think we are not meant to honour pagan things, pagan Gods, pagan practices, and pagan rituals…. Specifically. And instead can live everyday including the days that have pagan history, the best way you know how to honour God and the relationships he’s given you, in Godly and good ways, because those days were meant for God before Satan stained them with paganism and counterfeit ideas… and I don’t think we honour God by purposefully choosing not to show love in good and Godly ways on that day because Satan “Satan stole it” along the way, but instead just using it for what God has gifted us, and enjoy the day as if it was His own again.

      We never said you cannot practice love on Valentine's day. As we said in the video: "True love is an ongoing thing. It’s a daily thing. It’s not just a one-day event that we remember in February. It’s something that we do for others - day in and day out. It does not stop. It continues to grow every single day." We treat Valentine's Day as an ordinary day. We're not going to stop loving on February 14 just because it's Valentine's Day. But we will not celebrate the day. We don't need Valentine's Day as a crutch in order to love.

      @@bigbossjc4117 Study the book of Romans particularly Romans 14… one part of the Bible its prohibited eating meats sacrifice to false gods but in Romans 14 it wasn’t prohibited because it was understood that when you’re eating the meat you’re not eating the meat onto a god, and ultimately gods are false, but You had two groups of Christians one group of Christians would argue eating that meat that was involved in rituals to other gods means you’re worshiping that god the other group of Christians would argue I’m not worshiping a god by eating that meat and they would go back and forth but got said he invited both at his table those scriptures was not just talking about meat eating it’s literally about the gray areas in Christianity that Christians argue about and Valentine’s Day can be applied to that very thing, nobody’s worshiping a god or practicing a religion by giving someone chocolates and a teddy bear and saying I love you on Valentine’s Day it’s absolutely absurd! there are a number of things that we use that are derived from paganism or has pagan origins that does not mean that you are pagan or you’re doing something sinful and a lot of believers do not understand that at all.... A lot of the times it really has to do with personal convictions and a lot of believers conscience are weak if you have a weak conscience you’re going to think things that has nothing to do with nothing is a sin and if you have a strong conscience you understand things at a different level… And that’s exactly what Romans 14 talks about the Christians who were arguing that the meat offered up to false gods couldn’t be eaten by believers because that means that they would be worshiping that God conscious was weak! The Christians who know that there is no such thing as other gods and knew that even though they eat that meat I’m not worshiping that God their conscience was a lot more stronger.

    Actually Valentines Day is based on St Valentine who ministered to persecuted Christians. He was martyred and his body was buried on the 14th of February. Valentines Day has absolutely nothing to do with what is discussed in this video. Other than the overly commercialised issue, it is important to celebrate love and you should celebrate it every day, but if you celebrate it just a little bit more on the 14th of February, nothing wrong with that.

    You should remember the priest Valentine who was executed by Anti Christ Cluadius. Nothing wrong celebrating Valentine's. Now i agree with you on focusing on true love. Saint Valentine's was marrying early Christians. Converts and Emperor Cluadius was trying to recruit soldiers and nobody wanted to leave there families. So he declared a decree to stop marriage functions. San Valentine's Roman Catholic Priest refused and tried to convert Emperor Claudius but made him angry. Had him clubbed to death.
