My favourite Stihl mechanic is back ❤
I agree she knows what she’s doing and is very good at it 😊❤
Hi there, can i please take a moment and say massive thanks for your videos, so much information and knowledge there which is really really helpful for the people who want to fix their equipment. You and your partner are geniun. Not everyone share their knowledge in this world. Please keep doing these videos especially around chainsaws as that is where my key interest is. Fablous. Thanks
There is nobody on youtube who does this better than this lady.
Gosh! Thank you!
As a retired small engine mechanic for more than thirty years you are showing me things on these newer saw thanks I still work on friends and family stuff 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Well hello again. It's your favorite xlogger sounding off from the southern piedmont region of Virginia. You know, I used to think that I knew it all about small 2 stroke engines, but every time I watch one of your videos, I learn a thing or three. You are muchly appreciated.
Excellent video. Stihl could use this in their training program. With the stupid push to battery powered equipment I hope it does not hurt your business.
31:02 Love the Kitty♥ Kitty was just verifying your carb diagnosis😁😁😁
Very good 🙂
You explane it so clearly super 👍👍
Hi and Gday from sunny Queensland Australia , nice to see the lady presenter back on deck again , thank you ,cheers
I've never seen better videos on fixing saws.
I've learned a lot by watching all these saw videos
An absolute master at her craft! One tiny nit is I wish she would wear hearing protection...the cumulative effect is real.
Also great camerawork with the closeup overhead view!!
Thanks!
You have a BEAUTIFUL helper in your shop... So cute!!
Thank you for these videos. I’m a 33 year member of the Laborers Union in Boston MA. These videos have helped me solve many simple fixes on our cut off and chainsaws
Thank you! I’m so glad you enjoy them!
Those snap type fuel caps had a habit of leaking. Supposedly, the black stripe on the cap indicates that it is the newer style, to prevent leaking.
Great video...I have to say that I really don't like the throw away mind set of people today...Motorized tools and vehicles need maintenance, buying new does not fix the lazy owner problem. It just makes for more things being thrown away that can be fixed. The truth is maintenance cost money and that is the cost of owning tools that get used.
I totally agree with you on throw away mindset. I have an MS170 and I've spent the price of saw in repair/maintenance, not all in one shot. I'm hesitant to bring it to a shop and try myself with the help of videos like this. I managed so far, but I'm an IT guy, better at Googling for solutions.
Bought an MS261 recently because I need to cut more wood and more frequently. Will still try to keep the MS170 going.
"I've got this saw bent over, ready for inspection." 🤣🤣🤣
Good morning from the state of Louisiana! Im looking forward to our sunrise in the beautiful Feliciana parishes.
Now I understand how important vacuum- and pressure testing is. Excellent work.
Hello from Europe.
Thank you very much!
Just found your channel. I really appreciate the step by step you do. I found a 211 at a yard sale for 20$. Couldn't resist, the people selling it knew nothing about it. It's now inline behind about 6 different Huskies, a couple of 031s, a 041, 024, 028, 056........lol.
MS261 Next 😀👍🏼
I have recently retired from my job as an emergency dispatcher. I have found a new hobby in trying to fix chain saws. I still have very little experience but I think I have found the best teacher here. Your explanations are very clear and easy to understand. So tons of greetings from Finland. I would say the most common chain saws here are Stihl and Husqvarna/Jonsered. Excuse me for my bad English. Once again. You are a great teacher.
Love the color of the sunrise there young lady 💐🌹
Beautiful Canadian Sunrise 😀 Going Too Work Myself Will Have to Finish Watching When I Get Home 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
These are amazing videos! Thanks for sharing with us.
You are doing something right. I got three national advertisers on this one program
Wow, really!
sounds so crisp...great video....looking forward to the next video...your videos are so addictive
Thanks so much!
Love your content! Thanks as always!
Thank you for the great videos.
Hi from Ireland. Great Knowledge, clear Instruction videos. 😊.
After watching your videos , I am much more comfortabe doing Chainsaw, maintence now. Its satisfying to be able to fix things yourself.
Another terrific tutorial on chainsaw diagnostic methods. ❤
Glad you liked it!
Lady you are very good, enjoy your videos.
Outstanding and thorough.
Another great tutorial..thanks
Awesome video, great work. Thank you
Fill the fuel system with 2 cycle oil when it is stored for a long time. You explain things well and clearly.
Have you worked on any Stihl FS94R trimmers with vapor lock problems? I had 2 of those, & they’d get hard to start every summer when it got above 85-90 degrees. The only way I’d find to temporarily fix it was to crack the gas cap & release the pressure from inside the fuel tank. Thank you for your straightforward videos.
I like the method used to diagnose the issue, by excluding all possibilities, perfect, and well explained, and the result is really like expected. Bravo !
Very helpful videos and I enjoy the subtle humor, thanks!
Thanks once more. Even I prefer the professional saw videos I watch all of your videos bc they are so nicely done. Love from Germany, Alex.
Really enjoy your channel and how you bring chainsaws back to life.happy saws cheers 👍
Love the chainsaw repair videos Erica! Also love the way you folks up in Canada pronounce words like "out, about, shout, doubt, 😁🥰🥰🥰
Interesting that her husband says solder like we say in USA: sah-der. But Paul Carlson (Mr. Carlson's Lab) in Canada says: soul-der.
👍👍 👍. Another outstanding video. Thank you
nice idea using the dropper for the gas check. Thinking that Stihl will phase out the cheaper gas saws since cheap chainsaws from Amazon can be bought or an electric saw is more suitable for homeowner so they do not ruin the saw by neglecting proper gas maintenance
The 211 has a terrible reputation here in Australia, restart and running issues being the biggest problems. I have one at home with a bent connecting rod, I am still baffled how you bend a rod in 35cc chainsaw.
Love your videos right on the money you explain it all so well all the videos should be like yours❤
I appreciate that!
Fantastic videos, well-explained and very interesting how you work thru all possible issues.... am really impressed how good you are as repairer...... keep up the good work you do..... regards from Sweden 👍👍👍
Thank you so much for taking the time to go through all the air leak testing. 😊
When you talked about time that the shop takes to get into these chain saws, that is why on my (MS-291) they put a label on there bench of as is sales product out in lobby of JD tractor sales business. Thay priced my MS-291 at $420 sold as is. The saw was damaged on handle bar behind the black hold down safety. Just cracked. ( I taped it up with Gorilla Tape) The sales guy at counter told me exactly what you said. There techs time to replace handle cover was not worth it, they could sell it as is. It was a new saw. I have never had a issue cutting with her. 😊 She cuts like a raped Ape 😊 compared to my (Sears) saw. I bought the sears because I liked the priming bulb, and the Price. But boy the Stihl cut so much faster and better for personal usage cutting up round stock on branches especially Harder wood. I have a tone of big branches, that took no amount of time with Stihl, 😊 the Seare saw was slowsr cutting. Just harder on my old back.😊😊 I wished lived closer to you, love the COIL test with feeler gage tool.
You are the prettiest chainsaw mechanic I know of. 😊 Shalom/gw
Nice job
Really useful video! My saw sat for over a year with Aspen fuel in it and displayed the same symptoms. Thanks so much from Wales 🏴 in the UK.
Good video, calm and methodical.
Subbed. 👍
We need to see more of that cat!
Have an 025 with a red selector lever in the garage waiting for a new AM piston and cylinder. Enjoying the 2 stroke videos! Should be string trimmer season soon.
It's amazing how a little TLC and carb parts fixes a good old saw. John from MI
Yes indeed!
Well done…. My saw does same, im in the know now!!💪💪🍺🍺👍
Great videos!! 👍
Thank you! 👍
are my new stihl chainsaw person ! I am 78 yrs old so that is saying alot as a former heavy equipment mechanic.
I fully agree to find the actual issue before adjusting the carb., however I see no reason to not at least check the settings, in case the owner tried to adjust for the issues. If you know the adj. were not changed from when working, then I would leave them alone till finding the dirt(I imagine); still watching.
great video content on diagnosing 2 stroke engines. I've worked on my own stuff before, didn't realize how important the pressure and vacuum test to crankcases and fuel system are. I need go get my saw out the shed and do some exploring.
Great content! Just found your channel. Keep up the great work. Its not lost on me how much work it is to record this stuff while you're doing it.... not to mention all the editing in post. Is there a manual or catalogue for all the OEM tooling you use? Those T Handles you have for the T27 and 8mm nut look super nifty. I'm wondering if my local Stihl dealers have a stash of these somewhere in the back.
Lovely day
Super Arbeit 👍👍👍 Grüße aus Deutschland.
If you ever get MS311 I'd love to see you working on it. Just to see possible issues. I have mine for 14 months and absolutely no issues and I love it!!
When I get one in I will do a video on it!
@@marriedwithsmallengines So cool! Love your channel!
Better work on the 261 next unless you ate your Wheaties, lol! I actually thought that the needle and seat would be leaking because of the flooded condition and the discoloration on the air filter.
Thanks for your great training video. Sure helps me understand chainsaws. No matter what brand, I suppose.
High test fuel supposedly has no ethanol in it. ? Should we be using this in our saws. ?
Thanks a bunch. 👍🏻👍🏻👋👋
Very good job 😊 Thank You 🙏
Nice skills my friend i have a small saw shop also
You are the greatest mechanics .thanks for teaching us how to work on chainsaws.where can I buy the pressure vacuum tool.? Thanks again
Great as always, didn't hear if you put a new spark screen that was missing.??? I assume you did. I'll redo the video as I may have missed that part. Thanks so much.
really enjoying seeing your skilled repairs. my Stihl dealer recommended ONLY using Sihl Motomix premix fuel. she said, most saw issues are caused by customers fuel mix and ethanol. was that good advice?
Motomix is a great product, especially when the saw is sitting unused for a period of time.
Can you cover seasonal storing recommendations?
250 as it’s a very popular saw.
Those NO-SPILL gas cans are available at Tractor Supply (and other places). They are great and I have several.
Thanks I need a one gallon one 😊
I live in Florida and we have ethanol free fuel available at the pump it's more expensive but I always buy it for my mower and saw
Good practice 👍. I notice you most always wear chaps if running a saw with the Cain & bar. Another good habit👍
I have the same problem with my Stihl gas string trimmer. Thanks for your very informative video!!! Ill probably just buy a new carb. Out of curiosity, where is your shop at? Im from BC.
I recently discovered your channel and love the way you diagnose and explain each step of your repair. Do you have a tools list on Amazon like many do on CZcams?
I am going to work on listing my tools, and I'm working on a video all about tools!
Yea please i'd like a tools list as well. Thanks. @@marriedwithsmallengines
This is fascinating, thank you. What is that pressure-vac tool? Is it made specially for these tests or does it do other stuff too?
Do you set Idle and Max RPM with a tach or just tune in the wood by ear?
YES PLEASE. 261 next.... Thank you. :-)
Coming soon!
@@marriedwithsmallengines Thank you.
It always amazes me on how much $ and time customers will waste instead of taking it to a mechanic and paying to having it properly repaired
You need a new pointer finger, eh? Does Stihl not recommend a pop-off test on the needle/seat? Good to look at the mixture screws taper area for damage caused by bottoming out the needle. Never did like a saw with one bar nut, but I do have a couple electric like that. Good for around the house, start every time. 😁
My local saw shop sells ethanol-free gasoline by the gallon and will add 2-cycle oil per my specifications. At the end of my cutting season (October) i drain the fuel from my weed eater, chainsaw and other gas powered tools and then run them until the run out of gas.
Great video! If u had a way to get close ups of what your working on and the parts u would jump to 1000% on your videos. Keep them coming
Thank you. I will try!
261please and while it's on your bench could you talk about fault finding on those heated handles
What's the gab on the coil on both sides
When you get a compression tester for small engines, what adapters needs to come with it? I have some vintage equipment made in SAE measurements and newer gear made in metric. Perhaps an ignorant question but do I need adapters in metric and SAE? I see that some tools come with several adapters while others only have one or two.
Another enjoyable, informative video.
Question..I notice you put the chain brake on, every time before attempting to start a saw. Is this a Stihl safety protocol? Maybe just me and my woodcutting roughnecks have been overlooking this safety feature when starting, thinking this was just a kickback safety feature.
Your take?
I do it as a safety precaution. It’s how I was trained.
Some people will agree, some will disagree.
An old guy once told me “the chain is always out to get you”.
Could you do an in-depth 4 mix video?
I think I may have some coming up!
What's the best way to stop this happening? run it out of fuel before storing or what?
Love your videos, but I swear I heard Dart Vader in this one... 😅
Sometimes I cut 2or 3 spiral from the metering spring and the isue disappear, the chainsaw runs again without changing the membrane.
🤩👍
Oh my i want to visit Canada but a ticket from Europe to Canada/Usa is 2000$
If it not economically viable to repair because of labour or parts costs , then a part exchange or trade in might be more suitable for these low value items. The unrepaired units would certainly have value in the scrap metal.
Which Stihl model models would you suggest, one that is on the lower end of the higher end saws. Used mainly for small diameter limbs and tree trunks. Thanks
MS261.
Change the floating rim sprocket to 3/8th and get a 16 inch 3/8th 063 bar and chain.
And a West Coast Saws kit.
The 261 is a great choice
Can't we pour water into our ethanol gas to induce phase separation and get rid of all the ethanol?
0:06 Before watching, will guess on old/bad gas. Now I'll watch to see if I am right.
3:51 new fuel and it still runs weird. I was wrong.
Stihl tools are so expensive for non professional 😢 Hello from France
Many of the tools use everyday in my videos are not really expensive. Once I get through busy season I am planning to do a video discussing my tools.
