Btw, I've been discussing this with bb mains and noticed it myself and it seems they've really cranked down battleship rng - pretty much only allowed one citadel per full salvo, a lot more strattling the target, overpens, and ap shells seeming to be less effective against armor...I remember being able to nearly dev strike a flat broadside Iowa from across the map, now you're lucky if you get over 10k.
That tier three experience for you is every game for me. 😂 I watch your videos and your salvos are nice tight. Mine look like I picked a hand full of rocks up and just flung them.

Just found this channel, and like your videos they are great. Now the Kawachi is a Kawachi-class battleship built in 1909-1912, its a pre-ww1 ship. So that is way it lacks any real AA guns, AA was not a big thing on Pre-WW1, and WW1 ships. Its also makes these ships usless too as carriers show up at Tier-3, and most ships do not seem to get good AA until at minimum Tier 4. Or if they get a new hull like Wyoming gets B-hull, making it the 42 refit I think giving it more AA.
I loved if the game would let you put more AA on the older ships, make them more viable like the St. Louis the American Tier III cruiser has I think no AA or very little. It was a pain using that when a carrier was on deck.

Definitely an argument can be made that carriers are overpowered at low tier. I think the ONLY thing that sometimes keeps them in check is most tier 3 players are pretty bad even in carriers.
Carriers are overpowered at the higher tiers. Because even with great AA, carriers are able to get 1-2 passes on you with a single squadron. I don’t find them to be overpowered at the lower tiers however. Regardless they are the worse balanced class in the game.

Nothing has AA at low tier so its effectively the same as high tier with some carriers getting multiple passes. Like I said, I think what keeps low tier more in check than high is low tier players usually are really bad. In any event, I agree that carriers are poorly balanced (then again, it's WG, they are notorious for poor balance in all their games). I'd even argue they shouldn't be in the game as they screw up gameplay for everyone. At the very least they should be their own mode.
@@177SCmaro For real, we need an option to disable matching with and against carriers. Unlike every other class, there’s really no counter play to carriers.

True. Carriers get to provide a great deal of utility and many of them can inflict considerable damage with no risk to the person playing the carrier - in other words, carriers disrupt the game for every other ship type, the "fun police" indeed, a game set up as roughly "rock, paper, scissors" has a monkey wrench thrown in that counters them all and renders each of their strengths less or even moot.
Destroyers can't sneak around and spot and/or contest caps, cruisers can't hunt destroyers or maintain positioning behind islands or maneuver to evade, and battleships can't angle, tank enemies, and support friendly destroyers by focusing enemy cruisers because they're being focused in at least two different directions by carriers who get to set up crossfires for free.
In a game that clearly has no problem dispensing with realism to capitalize on the navel arcade shooter aspects, which is fine, they just "had" to include carriers because historical accuracy.

As with everything WG it was about money. Carriers are another ship type they can monetize premiums, camos, etc. That's why they're in the game, even after WG said they wouldn't be.
