The Borodino is based on a project of “Small battleships” from the early 1950s, known as Design III-III-3,. Unlike the classic projects from the Soviet Navy, these small battleships weren’t named “Project X” like Project 23 or Project 24 due to the fact that they were internal proposals from a private bureau.
The designs found support among the USSR Ministry of Shipbuilding but the Ministry of the Navy strongly criticized them. Multiple variants were proposed with a main battery composed of 406 mm guns in various configurations but the general idea was with one or two twin or triple turrets, all forward. The secondary armament would be triple or quadruple turrets with 180 mm or 220 mm guns. The displacement was ranging from 29,000 tons to 49,100 tons. The Borodino itself is based on a design with 2 triple 406 mm gun turrets and a secondary battery composed of a quadruple turret with 180 mm guns.
While designing the Project 82 heavy cruiser, the Ministry of Shipbuilding Industry of the U.S.S.R. ordered drafts of a "small battleship"-a ship equipped with 1-2 turrets housing main- and medium-caliber guns and enhanced bow armor. In 1951-1952, nine preliminary draft projects were prepared. One of the projects was armed with two triple turrets with 406 mm guns and was recommended for further development. After Stalin's death, the construction of heavy artillery ships was no longer relevant, and the project wasn't completed.

A FINE piece of Stalinium right there!!! After playing some Ranked to see how to play against it, it's GOOD, But it's like an Italian BB, it can get royally removed thanks to that hilariously large citadel. Just don't turn broadside and Bow-tank like a Scharnhorst or Jean Bart, and you should do okay.

Just don't bow tank at close range. If someone knows what they're doing they're gonna pen your bow
Since it has almost no secondaries it would be cool if they gave them long reach. even with the reach they would only come into play if someone was behind you.
I wish war gaming would mix things up. They need ships with something completely unique to them not just same old same old with slightly different numbers.

I love this boat, it might not be as powerful as a lenin but it has 2.0 sigma, every shot i did at long range was accurate af

I agree it is more accurate then my lenin. My first game was a kraken and my first salvo was 5 cits on a bb at 17km

She is of course a paper ship, she is a variant of the project 82 ship (Stalingrad).
Not really much I can find about it, so I am guessing its a wg invention.
There were two real life Borodino-Class Battleship though.
First was a pre-dreadnought Borodino-class which we have on the game at t3 the only representative of the class Knyaz Suvorov, 5 were built 3 were lost at the Battle of Tsushima as part of the infamous 2nd Pacific Squadron.
The second was the partly built Borodino-Class Battle cruisers (izmail class) Borodino was never finished.
You seem like someone genuinely interested in the history of these ships in game. Mission Passed - Respect Earned

I love the accuracy on this boat it puts all other Russian bbs to shame .the dispersion is amazing. I got a kraken my frist game and got 5 cits on my first salvo on a bb at 17km
I actually pulled kirisame and then lennin and I never realized how lucky I got.
I play Borodino on PC and like her very much. Rail guns from BB "Soviet Sojus" and combine this with the more stationary play style of Stalingrad. Choose an island and give it a go.

For me, I'd use Kedrov over Galler. I don't like Gyrating Drillbits as an option with all of the potential HE shells flying about the place in a match...
The small superstructure reminds me of the Poltava a bit. What I don't quite understand is the secondary booster option...it's secondaries don't appear to be very impactful. A couple of reload boosters would be a riot.
Overall it's rather refreshing to see a premium Soviet BB. The Soviets are awfully light on premiums battleships with zero accessible premiums at Tier 5, 7, & 8 currently.
Yes I know, the Lenin is a premium Tier 7 battleship, I have had it since the Xmas '21 Update, but since then it's at best, a lottery ship and not accessible in the store. The Soviets have the smallest battleship roster of the Big 7.
I hear that the Borodino has a 2.0 sigma which is intriguing.
Borodino is an interesting name for a Soviet ship...It sounds more like a name for a Ferrari than a Soviet battlecruiser-ish ship, but that's just me.
And now for something completely different...
I'll conclude with a brief editorial about Spartan's passionate passion for the word "Yeet" or "Yeeted".
It's a strange word when spoken out loud...It reminds me of something a martian muppet would say repeatedly, on Sesame Street.
They would be called Yeets from the planet Yeet, and the only word they can say is
"Yeet! Yeet! Yeet! Yeet!"...in a chorus of very high-pitched voices.
This would give Oscar the Grouch a migraine headache. He would tell the Yeets to scram...get lost...the usual.
Yeets only travel in groups of 7 because it's their favorite number.
Now imagine an episode of Sesame Street in which SpartanElite43 is a guest....with the Yeets...and together they sing a song about all things Yeet...
Don't ask me how the song would sound, because I'm not a musician, BUT I do know that an accordion should be the primary musical instrument supported by slide whistles.
And Spartan does like to sing...so there is that.
I don't know about you...but I'd record that episode...because it would be an Emmy Award-winning performance.

This ship has taken the crown from the GK as the worst turning circle radius in the entire game by 10 meters. It doesn't give them a run for its money, it beats them

Hey spartan If I were you I wouldn’t run flammable cannonier. With all the cruisers and gunboat Destroyers and even carriers to an extent. You just get set on fire over and over again I switched over to the one perk that reduces fire and floods chance and it has helped me a lot. And if you really like range if you have megatron as an inspiration he boosts your range I think up to 6 percent. So that’s just my advice. However do what you want to do. Thanks for the video

Watched enough replays of this ship to begin to feel it's a sleeper and has possibilities. Much of that will be lost on the community, but that's nothing new. However, another concern is becoming manifest: the rear 180s appear non-functional. Those turrets never turned even though they had angles on targets. I've seen four vids now where they don't even twitch when within 5km. Either they have much more restricted firing arcs than you'd think (they are DP guns...) or they simply don't work.
Even though it has a 25 mm bow and a low ice breaker, there's that patch of armor in front of the citadel that's like 400 mm, so even yami aint going through that. At least that's what other creators have said, so going bow in in theory is doable
you can definitely get citadeled through the bow but only at closer ranges. at mid to long range almost nothings going through there.
Unless of course they know to aim a but higher to go through 25mm

It’s interesting. Not overpowered, but interesting. It’s should be fun to play. But if I need the performance - I’ll choose Iowa instead.
I initially fought someone with this and I thought I was hallucinating seeing a new ship and didn't know how to counter it since I thought it was Italian not Russian.

Looking at the WG website, the mega crate on PC (I am assuming you are on PC) Thunderer is 1% chance.

Another ship i wont touch. I need 3 guns spread out. Its too easy to delete guns in the game. If a Yamato or another big gun shoots them and destroys them your down to 1 gun.

Radar is way too long duration. 30 seconds is an eternity.
Also the range is too long. Chapayev has 11.7km too but people play it at max range so it’s possible to dodge efficiently for 20 seconds.
30 second radar every 3 minutes on a ship that’s able to get close to the action is an unfair advantage. Makes playing Dd impossible (try to dodge a salvo of high velocity shells coming from 7-8km, sometimes from 3 or 4 different ships: impossible).
Most people play bbs and cruisers at max range. So what’s the goal here ? Have dds not being able to play the objectives anymore and shit their pants like everyone else ?

The accuracy of this ship has been horrendous for me, even at 10km I can't seem to hit what I aim for. Other than this this is fairly mid (my opinion)
