HNLMS De Zeven Provinciën (C802), was the first of the De Zeven Provinciën-class light cruisers for the Royal Netherlands Navy. The name De Zeven Provinciën refers to the Seven Provinces which formed the Dutch Republic in 1581.
In the 1930's, the Netherlands was in a mire of its own, the increased presence of the Imperial Japanese Navy in the Dutch East Indies has made the Netherlands aware of the ensuing threat against the Imperial Japanese military forces. To counter this threat, the Koninklijke Marine forwarded a major naval expansion program to upgrade its fleet, which included two new light cruisers to replace the aging Java-class cruisers. The design of these new cruisers was a major improvement over the older cruiser, HNLMS De Ruyter, and both ships were laid down in 1939. The first of these new cruisers was originally named Kijkduin, later changed to Eendracht, and the second one received the name De Zeven Provinciën, hence the name of the class.
Unfortunately, Nazi Germany invaded the Netherlands on May 10, 1940, leading to the construction of the two ships halted. The Germans continued to work on the ships and was renamed KH2, by fitting an Atlantik Bow. Work progressed very slowly as the dockyards' capacity was used for other purposes and sabotage by the Dutch resistance affected progress. On December 24, 1944, KH2 was launched for use as a blockship in the Nieuwe Waterweg of Rotterdam but this action was never carried out.
After the end of World War II, construction resumed on both ships to a modified design which incorporated the lessons of the war. Armament was modified from 3 triple and 2 twin Bofors 152/53 mm guns, 6 twin 40 mm AA and 2 triple 533 mm torpedo tubes to 4 twin Bofors 152/53 mm guns, 4 twin Bofors 57/60 mm guns and 8 single Bofors 40/70 mm guns. An improved propulsion plant was fitted as well as a second funnel and advanced electronics.
Names were also changed with Eendracht becoming De Zeven Provinciën and the former De Zeven Provinciën being renamed De Ruyter. Both ships were finally commissioned by the Royal Netherlands Navy in 1953.
Royal Netherlands Navy
In Dutch service both ships participated in several NATO exercises and were frequently used as flagships for different naval task forces. Between 1962 and 1964, the De Zeven Provinciën underwent a refit by RDM which included the removal of the two aft turrets and the installation of a RIM-2 Terrier SAM system. Lack of funds precluded the same modifications from being carried out in the De Ruyter, which was decommissioned in 1973. Her sistership followed suit in 1976 after the entry to service of the two Tromp class frigates.
Peruvian Navy
De Ruyter was acquired by the Peruvian Navy and recommissioned in 1973 as Almirante Grau. The De Zeven Provinciën was also bought in 1976, its RIM-2 Terrier SAM was removed and replaced by a hangar and a flight deck for ASH-3D Sea King helicopters. From 1985 until 1988 the Almirante Grau underwent a major modernization by Amsterdam Naval Services (ANS), which has allowed the ship to remain in service, whereas the Aguirre was decommissioned in 1999.

Finally faced one of these and the AA area denial was nuts. I was pre-dropping and 6 planes were struggling to even approach the guy lol.

best thing about this update is that catapult fighters don't spot anymore..no more island humping cruisers spamming you with a plane up..They actually have to play now.

The DE 7 on PC is maybe meh but its f-cking hilarious and fun to play. Fast turrets, good fire chance and you rarely get a cita hit. The ship is a underdog on PC but so rewarding and they did her even more dirty on legends

Good game, 8.3 concealment is crazy good.
I played four games today in Saipan, and I just put on my headset and when I spotted a destroyer, I would highlight the grid so that people could at least know that there was a destroyer there. They can’t shoot it, but they know it’s there which is better than our battleships, walking into a torpedoes and not knowing.

Hey Spartan - I was wondering if you think this ship has a mean combo where you can sneak up to ships remain invisible and bomb them then finish cruiser and destroyer with the guns

Sorry, I LOVE how the spotting now works. DD now are the spotters (as it should be). It was absurd playing DD and running away from planes during all the match. Now the roles for each ship is better

Spotting planes breaks the spotting in WoWL. I love spotting in WoT and now it will be more or less the same (excecpt radar ships, of course)

No, the game is worse for it. It's only players that can't play the game, that believe this is a better way. If a ship was spotted in real life you all let rip, even if spotted by a plane. What happened is the makers & people complaining have got there own way again. I will play the game but won't purchase anything out of the store now 😂🤣😅. Along with some others. There killing there own game nicely here.
I guess the trade off of having a long traverse time is that they’re 360 but other dual purpose main guns are 360 and they are also fast so idk what they were thinking for this one
Good video with the air strike, I find catching ships is when they are turn trying to strigten out after a turn or just after one were they can not make fast evasive maneuvers to either side you can hit them pretty good. Another good way I found I use 1 bomb drop to force them to turn, watch the way they start to turn hit the spot they should be in soon.
Here is thing I miss with no plane spotting now trop spotting is gone to that was great for Japan Nijna DDs, I also miss the fact that the CV of good kept dds away, but now with fuel thats over. Why stay on the DD if it waste fuel, if is not spotted for the reast until it fires its gun or is sighted by sea normal.

I called it as soon as i heard about the change to plan spotting that it would kill carrier play in general. No more spotting points and now having a carrier on your team just makes you wish you had literally anything else instead

@SpartanElite43 I guess that part was improved a bit I just don't like losing the spotting for the team. I would've rather seen a radar effect where if they are spotted for a certain amount of time your team can see them.

The aircraft carrier buffs are ridiculous. I took an AA focused Kansas out earlier, I shot down 64 planes and the carrier still focused and killed me. My AA, including a catapult fighter, was entirely ineffective at defending me or my teammates. It’s fucking bullshit! 😒
…also, wtf is going on with spotting?! There’s a 15-20sec delay between a ship appearing on the minimap and then appearing ‘in game’ so I can engage it 🤷🏻♂️
Three separate battles so far I’ve been literally targeted the whole match I can’t even play. I’m a BB main. 💩 is out of control.

I don't know man I have aktsuki with 50 aa and I almost never get hit by Carrier I always shoot them down but when I play as my cruiser that has 73 carriers always Hut me

Okay ships aren't worth playing. We've all got ports stuffed with okay ships that we don't play. The airstrike mechanic might be fun later on, but this ship is like renting a cheap Toyota
The rudder shift of 7.3 is surprising. One would think a more "modern" cruiser would have a 4.5-5.5 second rudder response.

We need a really good ship for a change. I'm hoping for the July 4th event that the campaign ship will be the USS Illinois. It's different, but I'll bet it would be better than anything we've had this year so far, but that's just me.

I'm a deputy commander of my fleet and i play in divisions quite often so this ship is ideal for playing with the boys. also the irony of a dutch based fleet with a dutch commander and deputy commander who have a dutch ship lol
I called it! This update did little more than add an extra easy mode for CV's, while making life more of a living hell for cruisers and battleships. And I only boo about this game, because i wanted to cheer.

I just finished the campaign today and only had enough promotions to get lev 9 on the capt. but did have four promotion orders so gold is 2. I shot a Baltimore a million times with he, switched to AP and double citadel’d him for 90% of his health. I wonder if the stacking effect per hits on same target carries over to an ap switch? I think the extra bomb load combined with previous shots building the multiplier could be the one and only way to make it do something.
Also, stop shooting me in that ship team mates please and the thumbs up when I sink cuts deep. You ain’t right.

Play the Oland, it seems like this is now a ship that can fend itsself against cv players. The AA is good the toros move 81kms, and the guns shoot quick

I would have preferred Haida as the campaign ship.
I was never a fan of the spotting mechanics as they were previously implemented. Start of a CV game, they throw up a squad of planes and just circle around showing everyone where everyone is. Put up your own catapult fighter and light up a bunch of enemy ships for everyone to shoot. Now, if you've got a CV, you can get mini map spotting, but until you, yourself get into a position where either you or a teammate can spot those ships, you don't get to fire on them from across the map. What I don't like is that they completely neutered the catapult fighter. It should still spot - even if it's only mini map spotting for the ship that launched it. At least that would give you the opportunity to better position yourself to either engage or escape. As of now the only thing it can do is shoot down a SINGLE plane from a squadron. Or, if you've got Arthas, then you can still use it for the damage boost.
The D7P airstrike is certainly interesting. Find the typical straight-line / constant speed BB captains and you can wreak some serious havoc. Even if you don't find those kinds of BB captains, throw a couple behind an island where a cruiser is lurking and give them a nasty surprise.

To me it has. It's never showcased in any video review unless it's a Japanese battleship with Arthas the Cold as commander. Outside of that scenario it's never really showcased and I think it's because the catapult fighter doesn't really....fight?
A lot of ships do offer a plane choice, right? I can tell you that unless it's a ship with good secondaries, I generally choose the spotting plane because it offers some assistance with main gun accuracy.
It seems, at least to me, that Wargaming never regarded the catapult fighter with much importance. I can't recall any other reviewer, including Spartan, such as Xarkun, A A Ron or Metajerk saying much of anything about the fighter plane unless they had Arthas the Cold involved.
Though I agree that a plane, any plane, should be allowed to conceivably spot enemy ships, I don't see the removal of spotting from the fighter as a measurable issue.
@@moonytheloony6516 The plane's biggest use outside of extra damage from Arthas was its ability to spot other ships. A cruiser behind an island could launch the fighter and have it spot the BB/DD/whatever. A cruiser with smoke - especially the Italian ones - could sit in their smoke screens, launch the fighter and have free reign. A BB captain could put up the fighter to get just that extra little bit of range to maybe spot the DD or its torps.
Now that mechanic is gone and the only thing the fighter can do is shoot down ONE single plane.

Generally, good idea, but needs more polish. Before, if you were somewhat aggressive, you often being left by your team. Now, you are 100% screwed. God forbid if you play Italians, utilizing smoke consumable. You’ll be alone with crickets more often than not.
Maybe to leave the old mechanic and new one to be applicable only on DDs…

How are you getting these campaign ships/Bureau ships as soon as they are introduced? Either your paying hard cash, or.... someone gives you a token for a freebie. Great for your content and review, however poor tactics to the struggling folks who help monetize your platform. Ships that most will never be able to play. Ever! Immmediate launch for a Canadian player to purchase COMPLETE CAMPAIGN is just over 26,250 douloons at 5 perks. That equates to $147.46. Thank you for the reviews as they are insightful. Just keep in mind that MOST of us "Captians" have real world financial commitments that otherwise keep us far away from attaining the splendor.
I'm a Community Contributor for the game so WG loans us the ships for 2 weeks to make videos on to help folks make an informed decision with their money.
I always try to give my honest feedback on ships so folks can better understand what they are getting

I think the new plane spotting needs to be removed and turned back into the original spotting mechanic it was added to promote teamwork, but it does the opposite there's no point in spotting destroyers if your team can't do anything about them I've also noted battleships and cruisers being more passive due to the carrier rework leaving only destroyers to spot and if you lose them then your team is most likely screwed.

@steamedgames5148 it's a downside I'm willing to take rn, he spamming cruisers annoy me more than runaway dds at this point.
Players will adapt, and the watching the mini map will become far more vital
I personally think it's an okay change. If the player base learns to watch mini map more then I'm all for it plus I hope it makes battle ship players more bold and push caps so annoying seeing battleships reach end game full health when they could of very well just push up and set crossfire.

Seemed pretty obvious from the stats it was hot garbage. And I wasn't sure how many ppl got that detail of clear skies doubling.......leave it to you spartan.
This cruiser is only good with the airstrike and that’s really it it has no armor the guns are mid and the range is bad
The gameplay is as awful as the ship is, they absolutely destroyed world of warships Legends with this latest update every single battle is a carrier battle and even in AA based cruisers / battleships with full AA builds you still get bullied example running a azer lane Cheshire full AA build with enhanced AA consumable and get Dev struck by a carrier and the fact that you can shoot down 37 aircraft and not get a clear skies medal is absolutely mental

They ruined the game with over powered cvs . I barely played it and now cvs have unlimited planes it killed the little bit of fun I had left in this game.
