A better version of the cheap diesel heaters but still not ridiculously priced? We'll have a look inside and next time fire it up. www.aliexpress.com/store/5798116
Thanks for the breakdown of the heater to that level. I am the first owner of the heater in the USA (the 2kw is the only version currently available here in the US), and I too, have a video (coming soon) where I do an unboxing, and review. I didnt take mine apart, so, I will (with your permission) include a link to your video so customers who are interested, can see the insides of the heater. I am VERY impressed with the quality as well. I now have been running mine for about 3 weeks, and TOTALLY am sold. Super quiet, and beautiful heat coming from it. It's definitely worth the investment of purchasing this heater.
Excellent initial overview to see the differences. Thanks for mentioning my heater sensor "springy grommet" fault (20 mins into video) Its one thing to keep in mind because when it degrades it will cause start up issues and premature shut downs and not always show a fault code.
Don’t be overly surprised that they tested the one they sent to you David, I’ve installed around 15 of these since the brand went big with the quality advertising - none of them had been tested and one had a buckled fan. Still, definitely an improvement on quality. Good video.

Nice and fair review! I like what you do. I believe the small sensor is for the input air temperature. If the air in the room is too hot and the sensor on the controller is mounted in a wrong way, the ECU will detect the real need for fuel and adjust the pump accordingly. Just a supposition. Cheers!
Hello from America David those clips on the fan assembly are for the rpm sensor I wish I could get a copy of the instructions thank you for sharing your ideas and time with us please keep up the good work and stay safe
Hi David! It is always pure joy, to watching your videos..! You did mention, that there is no "2Kw", "5Kw", or "8Kw" heaters, they are just numbers.. I do understand, Of course those size makes some difference, and how high they runs, does that make all the differences? Have i understood right?? Have you ever measured the temp difference between "2Kw" and "5Kw" heaters..? (Sorry my English, lol.)
Hey there. Sorry I should have been more clear. There are only two sizes of heater, the 2KW and the 5KW and they are physically different sizes. All the other heaters marketed as 8KW, 10KW and 12KW are just the 5KW body with numbers printed on the box. While you can get more heat by adding more fuel the efficiency changes and you have to run things harder shortening their life.
I tried out my cheapie all-in-one unit yesterday. People talk about the pump "ticking". Mine does not tick, it knocks like an East German Stasi agent paying you a visit at three a.m. I have to find a way to quiet that down or it's a no-go for me. I'm curious to hear how this one sounds. It looks like a very well put together heater. Thanks for doing these videos.
I'd like to see dude do a video on a Vvkb diesel heater. They have a youtube channel. They claim their heaters are hi quality but I don't know man. Absolutely sure this dude can settle that.
Hello David. Thanks for the detailed video on this heater. Do you know if the lavaner controller would work a 2kw chinese diesel heater, as the lavaner controller is much better looking, and likely to last longer. If it does work is it plug and play or do the wires need configuration.
i bought that same exhaust. The add said it was an Webasto exhaust? One thing i did notice that it fits snuggly on my Chinese Diesel heater. Not like the one that came with the heater.
It is a Eberspacher copy not Webasto , and you chould have had a look at the quality clamps ect that come with it . The burn chamber is of a thicker material.
Balance clips on the fan and actual Econoseal type plugs, were you getting moist? Kyocera, Japanese electro/ceramics specialist with a good track record.
I am looking at buying a diesel heater for use at high elevations. 7000ft to 11000ft (2000m - 3500m). Can the Lavaner Pro 2kw work at these elevations? I saw that a Lavaner Pro Alpine 2kw was made to compensate for high altitude but it is no longer available on Aliexpress. Has the Pro Alpine model been replaced or renamed to the Lavaner Pro 2kw? If not do I need to buy the high altitude kit for proper operations?
I was going to install my diesel heater outside and put the hot air output through a double glazed window, that I have replaced the glass with a 24mm plywood board. My question is....Does the out put hot air hose near the diesel heater get to hot for me to put it through the plywood?
The hot air outlet through wood is ok. That's how most campervans have them set up. Are you going to heat outside air or are you going to have inside air routed to the cold inlet of the heater?
@@DavidMcLuckie I was going to recirculate inside air. Wondered if you could help with the following. i saw your vid on the diff between the 2 5 and 8 kw heaters. I ordered a 5kw tricklicks diesel heater, which has now arrived. No where on the box or the heater does it state 5kw or anything else. I think I have been sent a 2kw. Are there any measurements I can take to confirm if it is a 2kw or 5kw unit. Such as internal diameter of the exhaust or combustion air intake or even the internal plastic hot air outlet vent. I would appreciate any assitance, thankyou.
Hi David I have a question about the fuel pumps the installation says it is supposed to be at an angle I was curious why and what happens if it is not.....maybe something to test....
@@CosmicSeeker69 thanks for the answer I was testing my install and the pump was just laying flat ( worked fine) and I’ve never known other solenoid pumps to need to be at an angle so just curious as to why this was different
I personally think this is two 'wrong' things: Eberspachers come with a pathetic tiny filter, so they have to assume sediment making it to the pump - to minimise reliability issues, the pump then needs to be at an angle, to keep the sediment collected at the bottom corner of the pump, not going in through the central area. So - holdover from Eberspächer instructions, 'blindly' transferred to these new diesel heater manuals. Then - I think that all these angle-related warnings, air bubbles, etc - apply to the *filter* module, not the pump. The two look similar when drawn with lines - so I reckon a 'Cinderella's glass slipper' happened here - a mis-translation somewhere, taken as the basis for all other manuals thereafter - leading to an entire Internet-wide misunderstanding forever more.
