    Impressive unit. Personally I like the simple controller, but that's just me. I would love to see a heater with a built in O2 sensor so it could adjust the air fuel ratio. Keep up the good work 👍👍

    • @DavidMcLuckie
      @DavidMcLuckie  Před 3 lety +5

      So we've tried using an O2 sensor. I even built an exhaust manifold to run it in. The problem is the way the heater burns, the O2 sensor has trouble 'seeing' the full mixture. We had to get the exhaust proper black smoke before the sensor reacted. It might work better with one built right into the housing. Oh god now you've given me ideas.

    Beautiful unit's 👍I'm a very fussy Aerospace Defence Verification Qualification Hardware Test Engineer, so I really appreciate seeing inside the unit, it's very well built for sure 👍
    I wonder IF Lavanare will have a built in Lambda probe 👍now that would be very interesting addition, my gas boiler which is 12 years old has a lambda sensor and built in weather compensation outside temperature monitoring, that's superb with its stainless steel heat exchanger,
    Yes 👍 for sure I love quality made unit's, sure you pay a little more, but its peace of mind that also matters & customer service, I suppose I have no difficulty in translation of Chinese because my wife is Chinese,
    Anyway David brilliant and thanks for the video 📹

    No LCD controller? I've seem complaints of fan friction problem endemic to the cheaper Vevor. I don't care the price, a consumer should not have to crack the case to fix a known anomaly. After owning these for a year, the Web or Espy would have paid for itself for the time I've spent fighting problems. However, this Lav is certainly the best value among the patent-violating knock-offs. Great video.

    _Nice! But not sure how it knows what altitude is at? On the regular heater, if you have the LCD screen, you can go into your administrator setting and make the adjustment with the dosing pump yourself per 1000 meters/ or after 3200 feet roughly 5 % to 6 % for adjustment per 1000 to 1500 feet or 304.8m/ 457.2m your heater should work fine. Of course, it would only work if you have an LCD screen and do a little math._

    Thank you David for another fantastic video! What are your thoughts regarding the heat delivered by the different heaters? Comparing the different 2kW heaters from Eberspracher, Lavaner and a “general even Cheaper Chinese Diesel heater”. Are they equivalent when it comes to the actual delivered effect/heat? Some “stuff” sourced from AliExpress sometimes have exaggerated specs compared to the actual performance. 😊

    • @DavidMcLuckie
      @DavidMcLuckie  Před 3 lety +3

      As we know there are only two body sizes (5kw and 2kw). All the manufacturers use very similar moulds for the bodies. So while there might be slight variances between them, given the same amount of air and fuel you would get almost the same heat output from all the manufacturers. But yes some of them are just making up numbers. I've seen a 12KW advertised, it was still only a 5KW body.

    Easily done on the webasto Evo 3900. . It's only a resister and switch that will give you ventilation and away you go. Using the cheap rheostat it's much cheaper than buying a new controller. Looks a nice unit . Tank as well. Kerrosene. Much cheaper than diesel and cleaner

      Here in the states, kerosene is a hardware store item and sells for about $20 for 2 gallons. Diesel on the other hand is 2.79 to 4.xx depends on the area of the country you are. I picked up some low carbon diesel fuel made by a company called Propel, Diesel HPR is what they call it. Makes for what I think is a great fuel for these Diesel heaters, and of course can be run in a Diesel-powered vehicle and I think a wick type heater as well. It's clear as water, has virtually no smell and seems to be similar to the liquid paraffin that I would get for my emergency oil lamps.
      I have yet to run my heater, on anything, but I will eventually when I get a chance.
      I should send David a liter of this fuel to try out and evaluate, cheers 🍻

      @@goodmanboattransport3441 wow. That's expensive. It's like 2 or 2, 1/2 dollars your money for a gallon here. But it's heating oil over here so it's much cheaper than diesel but I do think it's not as hot as diesel. But it's definitely a cleaner burn. That won't matter to you if it is that expensive in the states. Diesel is the way to go over there lol

      Here the heating oil is diesel fuel, but they reduce the cost by removing the road tax that is added for vehicle fuel.
      It can be dyed red to identify it as non road use fuel, although I'm not sure if it is or not when delivered to a home. Red dye fuel is available in some areas at the fuel pump for off road use, such as farm equipment or for use in a refrigerator trailer that is engine powered. Kerosene is also available at the fuel pump in some northern areas, usually along with the red dyed fuel and #1 diesel fuel or the winterized #2 diesel fuel. I've heard #1 diesel fuel is 50/50 blend of Kerosene and #2 diesel, but I don't ever use it, I buy #2 winterized because I don't stay in those cold areas and turn off the engine overnight, I'm just passing thru, and I do find that winterized diesel does not give me the same mileage as regular diesel fuel does, so I bet the BTU is less in that fuel like you say it is with Kerosene 🤔
