Most modern Looney Tunes try to replicate the style of the classics but don't quite recapture the magic. The Looney Tunes Show works for me because it doesn't even try to be like the originals, and because of that, has a unique sense of humor that a lot of people remember fondly
While at the same time it actually looks great. Most of the reboots and new shows have that boring "thin line animation".
@@redpanda6497 ?
@@larniieplayz6285 What?
Same with Duck Dodgers. Wish they'd add that show to HBO Max already
@@redpanda6497 I know right? The new reboots focus on the cartoony classic and the thin line style isn't TOO pleasing to the eye compared to old cartoons. I personally like this version of the looney tunes because it wasn't over exaggerated and had somewhat relatable moments
Forget Wonder Woman 1984, The Looney Tunes Show is the best thing where Kristin Wiig plays an anthropomorphic animal character that's part of an iconic franchise Warner Bros. owns. And that's not a joke.
WW84 sees Kirsten Wiig playing an anthropomorphic animal character that's part of an iconic franchise Warner Bros. owns??

If Kirsten got a wig taken from her, would her Wiig be snatched?
I really do like this series. The suburban setting really helped with its dialogue-driven comedy.
Same here it was funny as hell sometimes
ℹ️ remember watching this show back when I was in high-school dog this was seriously underrated in my eyes.
Its honestly better than slapstick looney tunes no offense
This show was mad funny.
It makes so unique too
the looney tunes show was one of the first shows that when it ended, I actually noticed it and got depressed. Most shows before hand just ended and I went on with life didn’t think much of it. but the looney tunes show was one of the few cases where I actually noticed it and was thinking “ Man, that’s just weird. It was so good!” it really was a gem.
Samee! This and wander over yonder. They deserved better
It was a gem we all sadly ignored
I loved the show when it aired, as besides classic looney tunes shorts on boomerang, was my first proper introduction to the characters. It was ridiculously funny and it's also hilarious learning that some of the writers of mystery incorporated worked on the show, as I loved both of them when they were airing!
Such a good one but shows are for kids no there not
This show was so funny tbh
It's interesting how shows like this and Sonic Boom were hated when they launched but now looking back at it we're genuinely good
I didn’t see that much hate for Sonic Boom when it came out. There’s a few who disliked it but they were the minority and still dislike it
The ppl who hated sonic boom, I can understand since the games were AWFUL
@@pubbyd2262 the games shouldnt skew the opinion of the show
@@skibot9974 Unfortunately, we’re talking a cartoon in a gaming franchise…
And gamers are among some of the worst communities/fanbases in existence!
Trust me; I'm a gamer myself.
Sonic Boom only gained popularity because of the movies
It's still bad- it's as if the writers don't know what the Sonic crew was about. Which was friendship and adventure, even if this was a alternative world, I don't see myself watching this again unlike The Looney Tunes Show
Looney Tunes Show was something I always enjoyed and can see myself watching it again, because it's actually funny and they aren't randomly mean to eachother they have at least some hints thrown as to why they act the way they do, for example Daffy was this mean spirited towards Porky because Porky bullied him at highschool. To this day Daffy held a grudge against Porky, doesn't excuse his actions but it explains them far better than Sonic being an as* to Tails for no reason, doesn't sit well nor is it funny.
I love this version of Lola Bunny. She is hilarious.
She reminds me a little of Jillian from Family Guy.
Right?? They gave her a personality, and made her, well, looney. I'm so sick of writers refusing to let women be funny. Lola is treated like the other cast, which is how it should be.
Easily the best Lola. Not that she had much competition back then (Lola in Space Jam or Lola in Baby Looney Tunes) but still
Shes much better than Space Jam 2 Lola who isnt even a Looney tune. This Lola needs to be a mainstay.
Me too.
I will never forgive Elmer Fudd who tried to screw a grilled cheese

*Gwilled Cheese
Honestly, I don't see it the way other people saw it. It didn't seem sexual but more like an extreme foodie thing.
Some people really are like that. But the way they had him in a robe was hilarious to me.
I think the humor of it was because Elmer was this well paid established news anchor, who had this weird habit that he probably kept to himself.
I was sad we never got to see an episode based on him. The Looney Tunes Show felt like an actual universe with so much untapped potential.
That's why he was always off screen.

I feel like so many looney tunes properties have tried and failed to replicate the original s writing yet this does it's own thing and is so much better for it
Back In Action was pretty damn close. There's one thing you need to remember: Looney Tunes is not for kids. They're like the Muppets, it's always had humour that appeals to all ages.
One of the biggest reasons for the constant failure of replicating the originals is that they ALSO want to 'modernize' it. They were out the gate, face planting.

I wouldn’t say that was modernizing.
Felt like they had a plan where modernizing wasn’t the exact goal.

PanPizza mentioned this many many times but back when Teen Titans was first announced, everyone *HATED* it for its cutesy “anime chibi” style (since this was back when anime was in a big boom in terms of the American market) and it’s marketing of the first few episodes making people feel like it’s gonna be a dumb slice of life sitcom show with no story arc or action, it’s very trippy in retrospect haha!

I find it interesting how Looney Tunes: Rabbits Run is the only Looney Tunes movie (regardless of the format it was released in) to be released in the 2010s, coming out in 2015. I mean, there were a few Looney Tunes movies in the 1990s and 2000s, but the live action hybrids got the theatrical release while the animated ones were on DVD (with the 2006 Christmas movie being the last movie released before Rabbits Run).
Wb neglect

@@user-iw5rd5re6w okay?
in my opinion I think the Looney Tunes show was the absolute best remake of a cartoon
they took all the great characters and perfectly adapted them into a new setting while stilling keeping the laughs and looneyness of the old times
AND CMON the looney tunes are the absolute best characters to be adapted into a sitcom
one of the best cartoons imo
I agree with you. I loved The Looney Tunes Show and I can’t believe they cancelled it after only two seasons. I know that they did a couple of shows starring Bugs Bunny, but I didn’t care that much for them.
I remember hearing Hugh Davidson talk about The Looney Tunes Show on the Adult Swim podcast, and he mentioned some interesting things, like how he wasn’t worried about tarnishing the reputation of the Looney Tunes based on internal use in the Warner offices, his thought of cancellation being tied to him and his team beginning work on Mike Tyson Mysteries, and he even mentions that he thought that the show would’ve been more popular/successful if the show had a laugh-track to “tell the kids when it was funny”.
It’s a very interesting listen, definitely recommend checking it out. Great video as always, Nick!
That’s pretty interesting to know!
I porsanally think a laugh track would've taken away from the show
@@broken_sheep6622 yea. It would have definitely made the younger audience enjoy the show better but regarding future proofing its good they didn’t
Maybe it was just a time slot thing…
The issue is that they targeted younger audiences, but it more easily works as an all-age show. So if it aired at around the crossover point between daytime and prime time TV (the point where cartoons stop for the day and we transition into family programs), it might have done better. Especially since much of the older demographic would be watching a new take on something they likely grew up with.
Where's that interview? I tried looking it up but couldn't find it anywhere.
I find it amazing how the show put several cartoon characters from a slapstick, sketch-based comedy and made it work with a sitcom structure. It adds a lot of personality for the characters in a mundane setting while going togerher with the rather absurd sitcom humor.
Yeah, I agree!! And that's why I will be forever saddened and heartbroken that there seem to be _no great slice-of-life fanfics of this show on AO3..._ :'3.
Its interesting that some of the same people behind this is also behind Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated. They’re so similar, they both aired around the same time, put the leads in a suburban type setting, was way under appreciated and is now getting a cult following, was cancelled after 2 seasons

I love how each character on this show always has a drop shadow, it’s like they’re trying to replicate the feel of cel animation
Whenever I would rewatch this series, Casa de Calma was always the episode that I had mixed feelings on, compared the the rest of the series it felt so out of place, but seeing that it was just a rework of the original pitch makes so much more sense. And I'm glad this shows finally getting the recognition it deserves, I love this show
I’ve watched looney tunes my whole life. I’m one of the biggest fans you’ll ever meet. I watched every version of these characters there ever was and I truly believe this show is the best version of looney tunes hands down. I don’t care what anyone says! Every bit of this show is so well done from, plots and character development, to designs and animation quality, and every joke hits so well it makes the show perfect for adults and children alike. That all being said it’s an incredibly underrated matter piece and one of the greatest shows period. I only hope it gets it’s full respect someday.

The looney tunes show will always be a masterpiece
The Looney Tunes show was my ‘I came looking for copper and I found Gold’ show and I watched every episode when it aired. Season 2 was a real reward because they really hit their stride!
Very well written with so many golden moments, and jokes and just great television. It was one of the last sarcastic, witty and ‘edgy’ cartoons that could be watched by kids and adults in a period of PC cartoons. LTS took risks well while keeping all the classic LT fun.
Scooby Doo Mystery Inc too!
I’m personally confused as to why The Looney Tunes Show had a PG rating while Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated had a Y7 rating. Then I remember it had guns.
Really need to revisit this show.
Also I would’ve loved to have Kristen Wiig reprise her role as Lola in the new Space Jam. Maybe have Tina Russo appear with Zendaya voicing her.
That is actually more fitting for Zendaya!! Really wish they did that!

Haven’t seen the new Space Jam movie yet, so I can’t say if Zendaya did a good job as Lola or not. But I was pretty skeptical when I heard she was going to play her because the only role I can remember her playing was MJ in the MCU Spider-Man movies and she wasn’t really an exciting character to watch in those movies.
I mean Annie Mumolo or Jennifer Esposito should be the voice of Tina Russo. Because they really captured her personality and her accent.
It’s amazing how the two best modernisations of classic cartoons, This and Mystery Incorporated, came out at the same time
I remember not really digging the show at first. Probably has something to do with the first batch of episodes showing signs that the writers were still figuring the identity of this incarnation of the series and going for not always interesting sitcom plots at first, like you said in the video.
Maybe I should try giving the later episodes a chance. Judging from how people have been talking about it positively lately due to that Space Jam sequel making people talk about Looney Tunes again lately.
I would definitely recommend you watch the later episodes. They are fantastic but I do agree that the earlier episodes were some of the weakest but after that it was solid gold.

I can say honestly that I tried it and realized that it is not for me. I am one of those old buggers stuck in his ways who prefers his classic Looney Tunes. That said, I don't feel the need to hate on this even though I did not enjoy it. To me it is a wonderful thing to see the series continue to grow and adapt and keep bringing in new audiences who can learn to love these characters in ways we all have for decades.
Same
Honestly that’s fine, you have it a fair shot and your being civil about this too.
Can’t ask for more really.
So glad this show finally got the love it always deserved, it’s just unfortunate we never got a third season!!
One of my favorite bits from that entire series was where you catch the tail end of a conversation where Daffy says "and thats why I dont wear pants." The lack of comtext and everything made it much funnier than it should have been.
BTW, the same writing crew who did this, Davidson, Hugh and Ramras would then create Mike Tyson Mysteries.
That makes so much sense, no wonder I find both so funny
Honestly this defined my childhood. While its a shame the series never got true closure I still remember it as a clever reintroduction to the characters in a unique environment that was different from what older fans where generally use to.
I remember when I was younger, thinking this show wouldn't be very successful for taking the Looney Tunes in this direction. But this show is still being discussed and appreciated to this day, and there a lot of great moments that I missed out on seeing back when the show was still airing.

I don't know. Looney Tunes Cartoons is good and funny, but it mainly relies on nostalgia as the backbone of the show.
@@BlythePennyBicycle21 I wouldn't say that. If anything, it just takes what worked about the classics and acts as though they continued being made in the modern age.
Yeah. I mean TLTS is alright and all, but I feel Looney Tunes Cartoons is a much bigger love letter to the Looney Tunes and deserves more appreciation honestly.
Compared to TLTS, Looney Tunes Cartoons also feels underrated if not moreso.
I think The Looney Tunes show is probably the last time we’ll ever get to see Pepe le Pew in a Looney Tunes property
Maybe if Pepe Le Pew was treated like Johnny Bravo with the women he's flirting with causing cartoonish violence against him, it'd be fine. Idk
He did appear a few times in Wabbit/New Looney Tunes as a secret agent. He also made a cameo appearance in the Happy Birthday Bugs short for Looney Tunes Cartoons, but that's it. (The Annecy version of the short omits him).
Don’t worry, with the way the fans are reacting to the news of the character, they’ll eventually put him back into future projects.

A lot of his classic shorts ended with the tables being turned on him.
@@AJ-xc4qe In the classic short "Wild over you" the running joke is that Pepe loves to get beat up and that's why he keeps chasing the WILD CAT,
actually his schtick was subverted several times in the old shorts
The thing about this show that really brings it together is that it’s SO funny! It’s one of the most quotable cartoons of all time for me, and I think it doesn’t get much credit for the impeccable humor. I just love it so much
I think if a series 3 is made you could put it on Adultswim
No way HBO or Warner Bros are gonna allow the looney tunes to air on adult swim rather it should air on HBO Max because they can allow edgy stuffy
the looney tunes show is a jewel "bugs bunny" tells you
i miss this show because i know they will never go back to the sit-com format
This is probably the most underrated show I've ever seen, hilarious and forgotten
This show and a 11th birthday gift of Classic Looney Tunes DVD along with Space Jam and Back in Action introduced me to Looney Tunes when I was 10. I love the show so much that I was sad when it was off the air and didn't live a few more years but I am that people are giving a chance and appreciation again.
