Archie Moore - Was an American professional boxer and the longest reigning World Light Heavyweight Champion of all time (December 1952 - May 1962). He had one of the longest professional careers in the history of the sport. Nicknamed "The Mongoose", and then "The Old Mongoose" in the latter half of his career, Moore holds the record for the most career knockouts (131) in boxing history. Moore was a highly strategical and defensive boxer, with a great chin and bludgeoning power, he ranks #4 on The Ring's list of "100 greatest punchers of all time". Moore is rated by prominent boxing website BoxRec as the 3rd greatest pound-for-pound boxer of all-time. Moore was also a trainer for a short time after retirement. He trained boxers such as Muhammad Ali, George Foreman and James Tillis.

Highlights Knockouts Tribute

haNZAgod - Sport
Such a complete fighter! He could fight inside, outside, used angles, targeted the head and body, slick defense and countering, and KO power.
When I look at old school Champions like Moore I am asking myself what happened to boxing.
Siergiej882 Kowaliow you are so right on that one
Siergiej882 Kowaliow I always ask myself that question
Too much money became involved
Bang on! They don't want a legacy they want the fame that come's with being a boxer.
Big prize money and all that other nonsense happened with it.
The old school champions are in my opinion the best. They didn't diss each other to promote fights, they just fought and they fought way more than the newer guys. Out of all the heavyweights Archie Moore was the GOAT in my humble opinion.
and they fought like warriors in my opinion, boy i sure like the sweet scientists with the outboxing but the fact they just kept fighting and slugging is cool enough for me.
@@TheNeorch I see alot of people just run when they get staggered. These guys used to fight back like champions when they were dazed.
@@KlngVJames true, archie kept...."arching" forawrd too...(forgive me for bad pun waaa)
I tear up when I watch these guys such as The Old Mongoose. To me they are my super heros. When comics were out i bought boxing magazines and read fights picturing the fights. I see now that the old school fighters had a mentality that isnt around as much nowadays due to the business aspect of things. These warriors were the definition of IMMORTAL GREATNESS. RIP Archie Moore and the rest of the "TITANS" from the Old School, Ezzard Charles, Jersey Joe, George Benton, Carmen Bassilio and many others..
same for me , thoses guys were my heroes
I thought it was about time I made a new Moore highlight. One of the greatest Light-Heavyweights and one of the hardest punchers in boxing history!
Hell yeah! I think Moore has the most recorded KOs too - great stuff dude ~
haNZAgod im pretty sure it was Moore who taught George Foreman how to punch. Amazing ko power and punching technique for a defensive fighter
Uncle Sham I didn't play Fight Night online bud.
We all agree mate. Excellent job.
please
I'd give a toe to see that Moore vs Ezzard Charles fight. Sounds like fine boxing right there.
ME TOO , all of them.
Hard for me to think of anyone with a more impressive career than Moores. Longest reigning light heavy world champion, most career knockouts, and a career that spanned near 30 years. The man was an artist in the ring.
And someone says ezzard charles is not that good, remember guys,he beat Archie Moore,ARCHIE LITERAL MOORE.
if this man was around today he would do very well.
Are you kiddibg? Nowadays boxers are bums comparing to old school champs. He wouldn't just do well, he would completly dominate.
Modern boxers are so one dimensional, they're either too text book or just brawlers. Looks at how natural these old skool guys are! Even the guys that Moore is beating down move really well, lol.
He would be a Champion.
Not in Boxing
But in the UFC
@@siergiej882kowaliow3 he’d dominate light heavy and cruiser. Heavyweight potentially
@@Nemoticon That's what I'm saying! Even the "Bums" could Box more naturally back then! There were killers behind every corner and under every pebble in the street back then.
never stop uploading evrerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Archie was one bad dude! He really was
he was a very skilled fighter with heavy hands
His story is extraordinary because he had a surgery that made him 95 pounds doctors said he would never be the same he worked out with a old fashion 10 pound iron and before you know it he was walking on his hands a story of triumph for the ages
The ko king of boxing. Archie Moore compiled more knockouts in his career than any other boxer in recorded history.
YoungCheesy Man look into a man named billy bird he fought in welter weight in the 20s through well into the 40s and compiled 138 knockouts in over 300 fights. not as great of a ratio but nevertheless Archie Moore only gets the claim due to popularity
The reason that Archie Moore gets his accolade is probably because there's actual footage on him. Therefore there is irrifutable proof of his ko's, unlike this Billy Bird.
YoungCheesy Man that's true but we don't have footage of almost any of Joe gans matches and he's still credited as a legendary technician so I guess it depends on who you trust.
@Happy Man hell no.
What a beast, bad intentions on counters, 🐭 “Mongoose” fits perfect, almost unfair how far ahead he looked back then. Ring IQ is deadly in heavy hands. Thanks Uncle Tana👍🏽your favourite boxer was a true champion. This vid was awesome more...plz🙊
Awesome highlights. I was getting kind of disappointed since the original is blocked in my country.
Moore is a top five for me. There's just so much to be said about him. He fought just about everyone, including almost all of the Murderer's Row fighters who even the great Sugar Ray wanted no part of.
He didn’t fight everyone. After Archie Moore was knocked out by Jimmy Bivins, he avoided heavyweights. He lost to Ezzard Charles every time. Leonard Morrow knocked out Moore in the first round. Waited almost two years for a rematch.
I see a notification, it's a haNZAgod post. It's like going back to the well. Dream fight: Moore vs Foster
I've heard of Archie, but never seen footage of him fighting. He had some serious skills, and the introduction, with that song playing made this a very smooth piece. Love it.
I think hes the greatest light heavy of that era hes one of my favorite fighters of all time he was wise beyond his years good old ageless archie
the original champion of father time, long before b-hop
INDEED👌🏿!! Winning His Last Light Heavyweight Title At 39 And Holding On To It For 9 Fuckin' Years!!!!
@@55cleon ridiculous
CZcamss most underrated channel
He was Great ! Love you Mr Moore!!
This video was dope Archie Moore is amongst one of my top three greatest fighters of all time, the music fits so well with him, really gives it that lone wolf feeling, I've also improved my boxing skills greatly from watching your videos and Archie Moore's fights.
Underrated
The definition of a boxing veteran
Such a sensational and complete fighter. Top 10, easily.
took ya long enough! he's my favorite
Well in all fairness I've had a Moore highlight up on my channel since 2013, just thought I'd make an updated one.
Another class of fighter legend!!! 💯
my favorite fighter of all time. I have his biography Ageless Warrior, so good
Lonely Elk I got that book too. he once worked a 12 hour shift carry buckets of water up multiple flights of stairs in a building. the guy promised him $1 for the shift but end up only paying him ¢.50
Doctor Baker bruh.
Archie Moore was an animal.he boxed the best for almost 30 years.
One of the the 10 best ever to step inside the ring. The complete package with the timing and reflexes that made him the greatest of boxings knockout punchers. A learned gentleman, a real warrior and an all round role model, he (along with Ricardo Lopez) was my boxing hero growing up. His first fight with Yvon Durelle is still the best fight I ever seen.
a few things i find impressive about moore:
-he is relatively flat footed yet he can pivot of the front foot, shift his weight, shuffle, and slip punches.
-he is very stocky with thick calf muscles and arms despite being a light heavyweight.
im starting to think the old school were onto something because nowadays guys will either be skeletons and weight drained or flabby and puffy at the higher weights. they think just adding sheer food/bulk weight or water weight will give them a "size advantage" when in reality that will often just slow you down, give you crappy stamina and make you weak to body shots.
Hard work created Archie Moore, Sonny Liston, Ali and Foreman. Food was purer then also. This is why those men were always ready.
great fighter great highlight. Well done Hanzagod.
His punching is just great. He’s very good at every aspect of punching, no wonder he was ranked the 4th greatest puncher ever.
You are the man for this I run to this keeps me going💯. Archie always gives me confidence to achieve my goals. Never quit!
Archie Moore= The greatest light Heavyweight of all time.
Ezzard Charles. He beat Moore three times, at the weight, including once by KO. In one of the other fights Charles reputedly won nearly every round. Moore tried and kept coming back but Charles was too good. Charles being a convincing 3 - 0 against Moore is one of the reasons why many experts rate him as the greatest light heavyweight, despite not having been champion (he couldn't get a title shot).
What a thing of beauty he was! OUF! I can watch him over and over all day! He had a beautiful style!
That punch at 1:34 doesn't even look like it connected but man, that guy went down hard. Impressive.
Thanks.
Il più grande mediomassimo di sempre 49 anni era campione del mondo 250 match disputati persi una decina ma nei pesi massimi immenso iraggiungibile magnifico
Man your soundtracks are perfect to go along with the footage! Strings the video along all smooth-like. The amount of boxing vids i have to switch off because of a jarring soundtrack is countless... You've gained yourself a subscriber (:
Besides Earnie Shavers,, Archie Moore was another boxer who had a pair of "hand grenades" on him as well. It's sad that we don't ever hear of these types of boxers till years later. But, has contributed more to this sport than any of the boxers you hear about today.
what song is this it's hot archie was a bad man

Слава Богу! Здравствуйте! Мангуст Арчи, был зверем в ринге! Почти 30лет, с кем он только не дрался! Спасибо!
Great fighter and champion.
I love it
RIP To Archie Moore he was really good at Knocking opponents out
Hanza could you make a Luis Firpo highlight or is the not enough footage ?
Fabulous boxer
hanza do you still have your jack dempsey highlight, if so could you pass the link ?
Where'd you find that first Johnson-Moore clip at?!?
It looks like television footage, which I've never even seen before.
Hmm not sure to be honest, maybe here on CZcams? I have multiple sources but can't remember which one.
How do you find the training footage of them ?
Greatest LHW of all time hands down
archie's biggest boxing muscle was his brain.
Bruh his technique is soo stratigic
Esse é lenda treinou o george Foreman outra lenda
Legendary MonGoose
Good part is that Archie Moore's son is now my mentor for boxing
Who did the background music?
Sometimes you can see the subtle ways the old-timers paved the way for fighters to be as technical as they are today.
Notice the way Archie Moore does the left shoulder roll, straight right hand counter 50 years before Floyd Mayweather Jr. ever did it.
Knocked Rocky Marciano down with it even.
Mongoose invented the Shoulder Roll
@@LordDirus007 Nearly every dude in the 30's used it. Check out Young Stribling vs Max Schmelling. There's footage from 1901 of Joe Gans using it and dropping a guy with a counter Right. Daniel Mendoza was teaching it in his book all the way back in the 1700's and said it was very old school even in his day. Love Archie but he was a student of the old school and credited his teacher Hiawatha Grey for his style.
Most KOs of any fighter. F***** savage
please make a defense highlight of him haNZAgod
I've got one: czcams.com/video/sRPjJEuOOC0/video.html
quick question which boxer would you like to highlight but cant because of no footage?
Harry Greb or Holman Williams.
haNZAgod you know you want that Harry Willis highlight. he beat Sam Langford like 6 times. Also I think a John L Sullivan and Jim Jeffries highlight would've been pretty hardcore Because both were big punchers, Jeffries more than sulivan from what I got but what sulivan lacked in power and skill he made up for heart and aggression. Also imagine having sulivans fight with president Roosevelt in your possession, what other boxer beat up the president? in the Whitehouse for that matter
WHAT A MAN< not just fisticufts but his LIFE! Had his bio including his famous Diet. ARCHIE VS SUGAR RAY,or BOB FOSTER! RIP.
Il più grande mediomassimo di sempre a 49 anni era ancora campione del mondo e fece piegare le gambe all'imbattibile Marciano
One only 2 people to knockdown rocky marcarnio and the only one to have fought him and Ali... he also holds the record for the most knockouts of any boxer 145.
Slickster
wath is the song ??
RJD2 - Mic Control
favorite clip when Archie drops Marciano counter straight right on the chin
He looks like his name is Archie!!!😂😂😂
Hey nice track and video...👍 I think he has the highest ko ratio in boxing....🤕
Nell'olimpo accanto a Ray Sugar Robinson ,Armstrong ,Jack Jonson ,Sanchez ,Marciano
Hanza the thumbnail of Archie looks a little bit of Roy Jones jr
Really? I don't see any resemblance
Just look at his chin really close I think you will be able to see

*The Mongoose: Walking thru this world Alone. "Time to have me some Dinner!" (·):)
The Lord just doubled down on this Phenomena!
his fight and punch style is similar to sugar rays
yes I did notice the sugar ray and Moore similarities. they both were hard hitters with both hands, but sugar ray had better foot work. Moore is Like a gunslinger for the old West ready to fire from both hips.
I box at his gym called anybody can
Старая школа
Il più grande peso mediomassimo di sempre 250 incontri i pochissimi persi sono stati nei massimi e l'unico che fatto piegare le gambe a Marciano l'imbattibile
Mayweather's got a ways to go to be considered great.😊
135 ko
Archie looks like Roy Jones!!!
tahir mammedov roy jones looks like Archie
I looked up the definition of Manimal , and sure enough it was Archie. Not only did he knock down Rocky, but he decimated a whole generation of Caucasian boxer's. The white birthrate has still yet to recover. Perhaps his finest achievement
It's mostly older guys who watch this stuff, do you really think we have any interest in that shitty soundtrack?
False.
Quit being a curmudgeon 🤓
never understood why they called him the old mongoose. mongooses are lightning fast with razor sharp reflexes. Mores still an all time great nonetheless
Tloppy Sop He is pretty fast, especially for someome who fought at heavy too
