I came to Mindanao in southern Philippines. Out of all the islands in the Philippines, this one is the least visited by tourists. Until recently, many governments even warned their people to travel there. Some areas of Mindanao are still not advised to visit. Luckily I was invited by to join a local family for a week. 5:28 Ken the rules that you're refering is the 8 ball pool, where one player must pocket balls of the group numbered 1 through 7 (solid colors), while the other player has 9 thru 15 (stripes). In the Philippines the most popular pool game is 9 ball.

if you are an adventurous type of a person visit Pagsanghan Falls n ride the famous river rapids n take a dip below the cool waters from the dripping waterfalls.....or just go bamboo rafting ride...it is located in Alaminos, Pagsanghan

The game you are describing is called 8-Ball, the solids and half ones, then hole the 8 last to win the game. What the lady described is called rotation, where you hole the ball from 1 to 15 in order. They add the numbers on the ball and the one that gets 61 or more first wins. The game you actually played is called 9-ball where there are just 9 balls and you hole the 9 ball last to win the game.
