I'm starting to get more aggravated with the police and courts than these kooks. If they don't comply after the 3rd request to show DL, insurance , and registration, then arrest them. They can argue with a judge. This took 27 min. to arrest this nut and that's way too long.

There needs to be a federal statute that defines the extortion for what it is, and these imbiciles can be taken into federal custody under domestic terrorism charges.
Although I agree that these people are imbeciles and that they should not be coddled, this falls short of terrorism. They're time-wasters, nutters and most likely narcissists. The problem is that they're also generally not violent and they don't pose grave danger to the lives of others. There are ways to get them under control that are short of that.
It’s rarely terrorism as such. The incidents that have turned into murderous standoffs seem to be quite few. Mostly it seems to be people not paying licenses, taxes etc.There have always been outlaws - frequently romanticised in history. You just have to steadily deal with them without getting too wound up. Most of them are not dangerous at all. Very few are actually violent like this guy. It always amazes me that Sovereign Citizens choose to die on the hill of car tax! Surely there are nobler causes?

I was a cop years ago and we just didn't tolerate this crap whatsoever. As soon as someone started with this stuff, they were told they were under arrest and they were coming out of the vehicle. I don't understand what's going on with these officers anymore. That guy should have been pulled out of that vehicle in short order.
Same. Back in the 90s these stops lasted 5 minutes. The rule was if we had to break the window we dragged you out of the window without opening the door. Don’t ask what the rule was if we had to chase you on foot.
These fools keep doing because they are treated with kid gloves. Give 1 chance to comply, if not, overwhelm him with force and put an end to the nonsense and arrest them.
I mean we don’t do that because we aren’t North Korea or China. They want to show we aren’t a police state. And they’re very aware of all the publicized police brutality. So these law enforcement officials try really hard to approach these stops with a lot of patience and caution.

These cops are amazingly patient. Too patient, especially in light of his prior history with cops.
If a SovCit has a previous offense involving an attempt on a police officer, there should be no negotiation whatsoever. This went on for far too long before action being taken. These cops were lucky.
Actually it went this long because they were trying to ensure that they stayed safe. Escalation from either party is when shit goes wrong. So the cops are refusing to escalate the situation until they are sure everyone is in a safe position. Cops can’t win with internet peeps because one group says they react too quickly and violently and then others complain that they take too long.
Being on probation too...which means the police have legal authority to search him as part of his probation and any other special conditions as defined by his particular court ordered conditions.
I think his prior offense is why they went on for so long. He has kind of dark tinted windows and they can't necessarily see what's going on inside clearly. They wanted to try to keep him calm and get him out, more to keep one of them from getting hurt than anything else. Of course, at some point you just have to push the issue, knowing he's going to likely go off anyway, but trying to build some rapport and talk him out is the best choice if they can do it.
They take so long so that when it goes to court they can show that they gave ever possible opportunity for them to comply.

And an invoice for the officers' time (total cost incl. salery and admin. cost etc.) plus all the time/materials used in processing his case. I'm sure there's a full accounting breakdown in calculating the annual budget. Kinda like if you go to hospital and later you get a detailed bill down each aspirin they give you.
Can be paid in cash or by working to pick up trash along the highways (irony, that).
Fines and short term incarceration have done little to deter this behavior. More fines are not going to change anything.

I'm going to set up a fee schedule and then push them to "violate my rights" (quotations because only in their eyes is it really a violation of rights) to make money". Some definitely do. The second we drive (travel) on public roads we contract to do so. What is required is a DL, registration and insurance. If we don’t want to contract, then buy farmland and travel on our own roads.
