- FIRST DRIVE: the 1500 is not only getting a redesign from Ram but also an all new trim for 2025. The Tungsten will compete directly with the Ford F-150 Platinum, Chevy Silverado High Country and GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate. On the outside you will discover an all new shape, 22in wheels and power tailgate. On the inside you will be greeted buy a full leather interior, 14.5in infotainment system and digital gauge cluster. Under the hood is a 3.0L twin-turbocharged inline-6 producing 540HP & mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Is the 2025 Ram 1500 Tungsten a BETTER luxury truck than a GMC Denali Ultimate?

Ram has had the best interiors for the last 6 years & this truck Will be the best high trim truck on the market, but damn 90k
I agree with you on that, I will still probably stick with the limited Longhorn trim like my 22’ when it's time to trade in. I will say the refreshed exterior has me 100% satisfied that this beats the GMC Denali in exterior styling. I just am not a fan of the interior color of this trim too light. Still think we need a 10-speed, but I'm happy with ram like I have been.

@@mike_johnson87 you are damn sure right about that I was at $79k in 22’ on my limited Longhorn. I love the truck, but I can't see myself $90k on a Ram with reliability issues long-term. I lease though so 😆

Ram Limited was already the nicest “luxury” truck on the market. More real wood and leather. Way too much cheap plastic in GM and Ford. Tungsten is just a whole new level of domination in the segment.
BTW- Aero mode has been on the air suspension trucks since ‘13. Not new. Nor is the reclining rear seat. It’s been available since ‘19.

Just traded my in 2019 RAM limited for a 2024 GMC Sierra Denali, loved my RAM. Loaded and really I don’t see much different on this one for the price increase. Loved my RAM V8 5.7L this new twin turbo looks tough. New to me, passenger screen, auto tailgate, new front grill which is real nice, two tone leather option, maybe some more digital options on driver side but it was there already. Sick truck still but not enough for me to buy it again. I’ll go back after this gmc for 4-6 years.
Yeah funny how power tailgate, screen for passenger, 2 inch rear reclining seats and some more power costs another 40k

As a ram owner, this is an amazing update, the front end looks amazing, and the side storage is very nice, the one thing I really wish they kept would be the older taillights, theyr'e just amazing, overall, beautiful truck
Yes, the tail lights on my 2022 Laramie sport look better than these. They should’ve left those.
Smoking the rock. It looks ok. Not much different from before the refresh but now it features a 3.0 plastic-fantastic i6 and some ugly taillights…

I think it's a great-looking truck real clean and the interior is very nice but I still think the GMC Denali Ultimate is better... I used to be a Ford fanboy until that GMC Denali ultimate came out now I'm in love with that..
The interior is really nice. Ram did their homework. This and the sierra Denali ultimate are neck to neck on nicest interiors for their top trims. I can’t say for the price. 90k is a lot of cheddar. Just wish it had the V8. I miss it

I agree with you the v8 engine is much better if buy a truck why are u worried fuel economy I hate when ppl own big pick up trucks and complain about gas mileage u knew that before u bought the truck

@@onterrioredmon5711 Drive the Hurricane. I have. And I owned a 2021 Limited 5.7... The Hurricane is WOW! You won't miss it. People said the same thing about the Ford ecoboost.
A Limited was already nicer than anything GM or Ford have.
The Hurricane is one of the best engines I have driven. I have a Wagoneer and the engine is the one and only thing stellantis do well. Nice review. Thanks Joe

My first vehicle was a 1977 Dodge Ram Powerwagon - these trucks have really come a long way!
That’s a bad ass truck
RAM has mastered the grille/front end/ hood, bulging muscular look while also mastering the sophisticated interiors. Then you have the AIR suspension and RAM BOX and now 14" screen. Now you add the HURRICANE engine. WOW! In my opinion that blows out the comp no question. I love my '19 1500 Laramie!
Had to do a double take when I heard you say 235 on the width. Besides that, great video as always!
My only complaint is how the 3.6 went from being the smallest displacement available to the biggest. If the new 3.0 is reliable then ok but I’m a bit concerned.
It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

@@clint0072 exactly I mean id expect more maintenance and pricier fuel but not unexpected break downs. We know speak plugs would need changes more often but it being a ram product I feel the first few years are going to be bombs before its somewhat decent or it gets replaced. Although ram has always down decent truck energies. It’s been everything else that’s been terrible

Price are out of control any more. Just bought a base 2024 BMW X3 and did everything I could to get that below $50k, It only had like one or two extra options on it. But on camera, this truck looks very quick. Really nice on the inside. Just had a Jeep Wrangler for 4 years and about 52k miles. No mechanical issues with anything. I know it’s a cousin of Ram, but thought I would mention it.

More hp and torque, lighter weight, but why lower tow and payload ratings compared to outgoing Hemi? Factor in a nearly negliable mpg improvement, not sure why I would want this motor? Only thing good left is the ZF8 automatic.
I'm just guessing but it may be because it's turbocharged. There are comparison videos of Ford F150 3.5 ecoboost vs 5.0 V8. When hauling heavy loads the ecoboost uses significantly more fuel, despite having lower rev's when cruising. Sounds counter intuitive because you'd think this is where turbo engine has the advantage with all the low down torque, but somehow with heavy loads it doesn't, at least for ford. And when driving with no load - the ecoboost is more fuel efficient.

The new Ram hood has a double bulge. I am glad I am over 60 because I am allowed to drive a truck with this much chrome. Joe first to debut my next truck. The bed divider doubles as a bed extender also. All the chrome is so the competition can see themselves as the SST leaves them in the dust.

absolutely love those wheels, you are right. Ram has revolutionized the interior of a full size truck. GM and Ford should be taking notes. Ford used to be #1 but not anymore. GM are about the same as far as interiors now but Ram is top notch and will be that way for years to come. GM need to finally add a panoramic roof to be in the competition.

Very nice truck.... but for $90k, did they finally get the ambient temp settings to warm the vehicle when it's under 62 degrees, or will it only heat the cabin when it's under 40 degrees? One of the reasons I sold my TRX. Also, what's the scoop on lane-centering (not lane keep), and potential for hands free driving. GMC and Ford offer those two options, plus better cabin temp settings for less than $80k.
In the battle amongst the top trim trucks, these seemingly unimportant things matter.
2/23 edit: To be fair, and as a pro to RAM, I think RAM paid attention to the survey responses. When I got them during my TRX ownership, I reiterated that I was interested in a luxury sport truck. The reason I had purchased the TRX was due to the supercharged engine and closest thing to luxury vehicle in one. Tungsten hits the mark with the Hurricane engine and ultimate overall lux trim. Unfortunately, recently got a great discount on a Lightning which offers the fastest seamless acceleration, nice interior, hands free driving. Still, Tungsten is a very appealing truck.

I like they went back simple I think they were trying to do too much in the grille and bumper area previous models. If they add a little wider fender flares for appearances in the front it would be the truck to buy

WOW....the color, the trim, the wheels, the features, if I was in the market this new RAM would be at the top of the list. I currently drive a 1997 Dodge Intrepid, the most reliable car I have ever owned. The 3.3 V6 has almost 250,000 miles on it and never been touched. As I'm not into power much anymore, I would order the 3.6 V6. Thanks Joe and Lori for this review.

One critique I do have with you zonking the lack of a separate rear AC control is the extra cost in terms of both money and internal space, because that feature would surely require a second AC/heating unit just for the rear. On a Wagoneer, sure, the sheer size of the rear justifies having a whole extra unit. But on a two-row pickup truck, I just don't see it being worth the trouble.

I love the RAM brand, and have been driving them over a decade. I loved the 2019 redesign, it really was a world of difference from the previous year. The 2025 looks more like a couple of tweaks than it does a redesign.

I wish they would have included the body color accents around the grill and not chrome. The preproduction pics they have of the red Tungsten look much better to me with the body color accents. It just looks cleaner and meaner
I prefer the 2018 Tungston trim. The brushed instead of chrome was cool.
I like the GMC Denali interior better. I like the horizontal display over the vertical display in the RAM. Plus the 6.2L V8.
Joe, where are the tow hooks needed to pull all the other trucks out of the mud? Seems like that is a miss if this is supposed to be a real truck. Am I mistaken? Thoughts?

Stellantis/Ram, I would like a Tradesman trim with the ability to choose more standalone options like: the 540hp SST HO engine, Vinyl seats, Projector LED headlights and taillights. 20-inch wheels, 5'7" bed, digital screen delete.
It looks great and it's powerful. The Ram is already an iconic truck.
