"No wonder these things are so rare in Zelda games." That line cracked me up because it's kinda true. With an empty bottle, anyone can take on Ganon/Ganondorf. Maybe he sends his monsters and minions to destroy as many bottles as he can before each game so that no one can challenge him. I got an image of him trapped in a giant bottle unable to escape. That leads to him being dressed like a fairy. These thoughts are making me so happy right now.

Hitting the energy back with the bottle in Ocarina of Time is itself a call back to A Link to the Past where you can hit the energy balls back with the bug catching net.
In ALttP you use the net to place items like fairies and insects into the bottles.
However in the same way OoT did away with using the net to catch things and then putting them in bottles, instead just using the bottle itself. So too does the Dead Man's Volley also do away with the net and directly uses the bottle.

That’s definitely one of my favorite parts of the entire game. It’s kind of chilling. Like, at some point after OoT, they lived in this big temple and now they are completely gone. Like, what happened?

    • @RichQ6666
      @RichQ6666 Před 4 lety +4

I was alway thinking that the Forest Temple in TP is actually the remains of the Great Deku Tree from OoT. The foggy area in Faron Woods with all the wooden ruins, is maybe used to be the village in Kokiri Forest, which was demolished once. So the Kokiri were forced to find shelter in their once lived father's dead corpse (or whatever left of it) to struggle there until they finally died out/vanished/turned into koroks and started to play hide n' seek...

Shaz is a reference to Mako from Wind Waker, both hide daggers in their books!
Pictures of Raaru and Rutella hang on the walls of the Yeti mansion. Nobody could tell who it was until the HD release came out.
The fancy castle town shop has statues of Raaru on the walls.

I think my favorite musical reference (obvious though it may be) is that, when you enter Hyrule Castle, you hear a version the Hyrule Castle theme from A Link to the Past. I think the goron with the brown paint on himself is a reference to various re-deads... It's just a hunch though. The way he sits reminds me of how some of them sits in wind waker, and the chant he does when in the kakoriko village reminds me of the chants they do in OOT where in that game is also where you'd first see a re-dead.
He even screams after he's done chanting

I feel like there's an even more direct -- and even more obscure -- reference to Tingle, all the way over in the Snowpeak Ruins, in the foyer. Once you've taken out the annoyances in the vicinity, go up stairs to the first landing, and check out the portraits. One should look rather like Tingle, if blurry.
Speaking of musical references -- and A Link to the Past -- there's Kakariko Village. While TP Kakariko Village doesn't use the same theme as the village of the same name in ALttP, the TP one's musical track starts with a little riff that is almost certainly a reference to it.

I don’t know if this is obscure or not, but a really good one that some may not know about is the dark link reference.
If you go to Link’s basement, get out the lantern, then hang it on his side as you stand in front of the mirror, the shadows and all kinda look like dark link.
Its been a real long time since I played the game, so I could be misremembering but I distinctly remember being creeped out as a kid but thinking it was cool. My apologies if I’m wrong.

Regarding the boss fight in TP against Zelda: many of her attacks in TP are used in Hyrule Warriors. Zelda, when using her Rapier weapon moveset, has access to two attack strings one infused with light, one without. One of her early combos when infused with light will make her form am orb of light and toss it at enemies, like the deadmans volley attack. And one of her later combo attacks when infused with light forms the massive glowing triangle below her and destroying enemies around her.
Also she is capable of summoning the light bow and arrows with her Rapier moveset, for both her light infused attacks and special attacks, the light bow she uses is the same one Zelda uses in Twlight Princess.

I'd say it's pretty certain that Hena and her siblings ARE descendants of the Fishing Guru in Ocarina of Time. Not only does Hena scratch herself in a similar manner but Koro's hair type (not exactly style but type) matches the Guru's too. Not sure why they'd have a pictograph of him if they weren't related somehow anyway. (Would it be a pictorgraph? Maybe a sketch or painting? Nah it would have to be a pictograph judging by the poses. Looks like it was a quick snapshot)

I don't know if he is a reference to him, but Coro's affinity for birds may be connected to the Hylian found under the bridge in A Link to the Past, or his counterpart in A Link Between Worlds, the Bird Lover, as the more likely connection of the two. In the latter case, he also has birds resting on and around him, though is a bit annoyed at Link for making them fly away by approaching. They may not be connected at all, but Coro also sells you a Bottle filled with Lantern Oil just as the Hylian and the Bird Lover give you one (though it should be noted that Beedle also sells one on his Masked Ship in The Wind Waker).

9:16 I wonder if Gor Liggs has this colouration due to learning some ways of the Sheikah. He sits in a meditative pose similar to monks in BotW, has clairvoyant abilities, stays in Kakariko Village, the Sheikah are referred to as the “Shadow Folk”, and his Goron emblem on the shadow side also has a similar colouration to the Sheikah Eye.
Also interesting that his navel area looks like a hand was placed there with the thumb extending all the way up to his head.
