This was by far the best team to use in 2k10 😂😂😂 Ty Lawson didnt even have a picture but he could dunk on everything
That’s a FACT
Man, Ty Lawson was cheese, LOL!
2k9 was the most underrated team as well especially with JRs hops and threes also melos threes
😹😹😹 on god they was sick sick
Yeah and prime birdman!
chauncey was the reason they got to the WCF, when they replaced AI he brought in the correct mindset and leadership to get those guys real far.
Yeah because AI and Melo just wanted to get buckets
@Brown Man mindset? Or injuries held them back? 🤔
Rodzilla I was asking Brown Man if he meant the team was healthy from a injury or was he saying they were not a healthy because of egos.
Just another dumb move by my pistons... “hey let’s trade our core for an aging superstar who heavily relies on his athleticism!” Sound familiar?
I think Chauncey said Melo wasn't in the right mindset about winning. Melo just wanted the stats
Couldn’t agree with Melo more about the social media thing and if that Denver team was around today. Those players alone, if they were in this era, would’ve made Denver into a big market.
Singlehandedly.
I agree. I forgot about all those cast of characters and if social media was as big as it is today then, that team would’ve had a lot more pub . I enjoyed watching that team at that time . They could score with the best of them especially when they had Melo and A.I. , but they couldn’t stop anyone . Their best chance probably was 2009 when they got Chancey Billups , but they ran into Kobe and that was it for that . I am glad JJ Reddick brought that team up because that is a forgotten team in history. Love his podcast. Great interview .
Melo does a great job as well with his Put your glass up podcast as well .
Nah
Players and teams don't change the market. It's the city that has the market.
@@Medevenx2K I’m saying that if they would have stayed together, they would have that same pull though. They were that dynamic and influential on and off the court
Melo preachin' a lot of truth about kids not knowing the game before Miami and the Big 3. To be fair, the league was totally different before the 2010-11 season.
The 2010 finals Lakers vs Celtics was the end of an era. End of the big man era. Start of the stretch 4 position-less era.
Yea even I'm guilty of it. It's just the age. It's hard to remember much before 2007 for me. And I'm 26 so imagine the young fans. Glad I got to see those nuggets teams though.
Those who didnt watch & understand before 2010 really have no concept of the difference. The court is wide open right now. Nobody really slapping wood playing defense.
@@JaredTG. i only started watching in 2007 too. I've watched some clips and read a lot of blogs, forums and biographies to get caught up but I feel like as a fan, unless you watched it live the insight just isnt the same.
I started watching ball when it was all about TMAC n kobe so maybe around 2002
Melo is so chill and you can tell he's appreciative of his experiences in the league as he talks about it

Growing up around the Nuggets as a 8-10 year old during that run was so fun for me...One of my favorite memories as a kid
You don’t remember stop lying.
Xknewsense how do you know
Xknewsense if you fell in love with basketball at a young age memories stay with you! At 8, I remember watching Allen iverson put the sixers on his back in the 2001 playoffs.

Jj needs to replace his co host though
Why did you use the word literally? It makes no sense

@@eescdaniel its getting there, hes super consistent he just started its growing
Getting close man!
Melo & AI in Denver will always remind me of them good ol nba live days
He'll yea miss them days
Chauncey didn’t put up AI numbers but he was much better for that Nuggets teams.
A perfect example of how stats are overrated
One of the best leaders/ floor generals to ever take the court.
Basketball is more than numbers.
kinda like Kyrie and Kemba for Boston
People are to obsessed with numbers to realize just how great Chauncey was. He controlled the game, understood the game and brought a top notch mentality to the game.
Melo in the '09 playoffs was the stuff legends are made of, too bad it only happened once
I've been a fan of Melo since he was in Syracuse, I remember the Denver years more than the Knicks years. That team was really good but injuries always held them back. Camby, Nene, KMART, one big was always hurt. Melo was his best in Denver too.
Member that boi earl boykin?!?
To me, those was his golden years in Denver.
KMART I never felt reached his fullest potential. At one point, he was just another Thugget on the court.
it wasnt a fogotten story melo, i loved every part of the duel u and kobe had. rip mamba
Kobe and Melo duel in 09 was lit af
Billups, Iverson, Melo, J.R. Kenyon Martin, Chris Andersen, Nene, Ty Lawson, Marcus Camby. What a squad
Billups and Ai were traded for each other
@@josuardgonzales7843 Yea, was just naming off all the memorable pieces from '08 to '11
I also remember Kleiza, Najera, Boykins, Anthony Carter, Diawara
do not forget 09' Afflalo.
The Kobe Bryant and Carmelo Anthony duel in the Western Conference finals was epic

GOAT MELO. These young dudes don’t know about that Melo
trust me they don't. They only know about the latter years of Melo and not the crazy nugget days
Melo was a beast. A 6'8 Kobe in his prime. Once Durant popped up everyone forgot about Melo.

That melo that used to give bron bron the business
Nuggets Melo was always my favorite. Seeing him play against Kobe in the WCF was 🔥
I thought Aaron Afflalo would get a honorable mention when talking about that 09 Denver team
Yup. Was an important player
Only the real ones know about Afflalo
Ryan Word to Kendrick Lamar...#BlackBoyFly
Afflalo wasnt on the team when Denver went to WCF
@@heyyooheyyooo8927 interesting. Though he was.
Melo Just brought soo much memories backk..i forgot Bird man started in Den..Jr smith, Nenen...wow
2005-2010 has so many great young teams that are forgotten man
Them Nuggets was a very entertaining team. They need to put them cats in 2k. That line up was pretty solid.
Glad he shouted out Earl Boykins!! That man was nicee with it , inspiration!!
I remember that western conference finals. One of the best playoff series of all time in my opinion. Nuggets would have won if not for Arizas 2 game winning steals.
Stop. Youre elevating it due to nostalgia. No moral victories for getting blown out in a win or go home game.
Serious wow someone’s inferiority issues were touched there holding on to much yea if not for Karl throwing Carter on 2 inbound passes Denver would have won that series don’t try and sweep it awalol
@@dsg3053 Nope not even nostalgia. I watched literally every game. Other than game 6, every game was close
I used to love earl boykins😂😂
He was a bucket
I remember hearing he was freakish on the bench press
Shoutout Melo. Still easily one of my favorite players ever. Became a fan of the game the night we drafted him. And even Melo himself said people really don’t know Denver Melo. Dude straight was a monster on offense. You can count on the guy to make the game winning shot. He was just amazing to watch. Wish he played a little harder on defense but that 09 team was amazing. God damn lakers still haunting us till this day!
I remember when melo hit that buzzer beater against Dallas in those playoffs. Classic
Ask him about Jeremy Lin 🤣
Jeremy Lin cooled off and teams started scouting him and he went back to being a mediocre rotation player where he remained for the rest of his career. Knicks did best post-lin but pre-jackson
@@Krowsnose Yup the Heat exposed him. When Wade and Chalmers and Lebron trapped him in the back court and forced so many damn turnovers. Miami exposed him for the mediocre player he was.
@@hennylo68 LOLL That actually show how good he is. If you have to set your whole defense out of rotation to trap a player. The Knicks should of made game plan just for that. If they double/trap it means someone is open. They played him just like James Harden. Sending Double/Trap to take the ball out of his hand.
@@TNMUSlC He was the only focus. The Knicks sucked. He was the only player making noise so they focused on him and exposed him. He couldn't even get the ball over half court. He didn't know what to do under pressure.
Belarion A.D. nah he didn’t cool off, teams stop wanting him to be what he was. A scorer and tried to make him into a damn ricky rubio type playmaker. You gotta know the coaching styles of these coaches. The last time I remember seeing him revert back was when he waved off kobe for that last shot when he was on the lakers. Gilbert Arenas explained it best.
I love these podcast there for real basketball enthusiasts and fans all the smoke knuckleheads no chill and JJ it’s so good to hear from the players and their side of the story of what was actually happening
coming from a nuggets fan this man is what vince carter was to toronto for colorado. love him.
Don't they hate Vince??
Melos days in Denver we’re was my favorite brand of basketball. I grew up watching him there. melo is one of my favorite players.
7:44 Melo: “we wanted Orleans that year too”
JJ: “we wanted y’all” 🤣🤣🤣
Kobe was waiting for Lebron that year!
Orlando*
We wanted Kobe v Bron sooooooo bad
Gerard Dyson bruh what EVERYBODY did that’s why the Kobe and Lebron puppets were even made
Len Walker that’s the real matchup everyone watered! Lebron and Kobe!
I was in college during that series & remember feeling the Nuggets were getting screwed on calls
Bro me and my mates reminisce on Nuggets Melo!!! He was the mannn!
That Denver team was so good, and I loved their jerseys
Been really appreciating this podcast
Melo vs Kobe in 2009 WCF was such a great time! #RestInParadiseKobe 💜💛
I vividly remember that 08-09 nuggets team. They were a legit team. As a nugget's fan, it was hard to watch the lakers beat the nuggets in western conference again this year in WP. Brought back sad memories
This is an awesome podcast. Always liked JJ. Poised baller on and off the court. His composure is just professional
WE LOVE YOU MELO!
lmao denver melo can keep up with kobe, I remember after that 2008 beijing olympic team usa, all teams after the olympic in the playoffs plays ridiculously good, damn i miss those days
Facts!!!!
Here we are years later and they're just about to win it
We won it!!!! :)
This Denver team created a culture in this city so much. I loved Denver back then.
I LOVE YOU CARMELOOOOOOO
STAYME7O...he is my favorite player I love the way he played the game and the jab step it's lit men I wish melo could win a ring but if he don't thats fine because he is one of the greatest player who ever played the game of basketball...💪💪💪
Bro some of those nuggets teams were the most fun teams ever. Sooo many fun and entertaining players came through that city. Damn I miss that era a fuckin lot.
Denver fans never forget....great time for the city
Grew up watching melo in Denver. Never gonna forget
I remember that Nuggets team from the mid 2000s, they were 🔥🔥 I loved guys like Marcus Camby, Boykins and those other big character role players.. even before Billups came in. Plus braids-Melo was his finest version in my opinion.
Denver melo is a beast! we all know that.
We need a 30 for 30 on the Thuggets!!!!
This is the basketball I grew up with. The Lakers, spurs, mavs, Jazz, Nuggets battling the west and Cavs, Boston, Orlando Miami and Detroit in the east
Ohhh I definitely remember that Denver team and was pissed when he left for New York
Chauncey almost put them over the top. It was just Kobe’s time
Jaleel Og weird asf 🤫🤫😬🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🕵🏽 so if this continues that means dame and westbrook will never get a ring
@@wewantthetruth722 russ will never get one just like harden. They both sabotage their teams in the playoffs. Lillard could get one if he's surrounded by the right players.
yep melo carried tho
That Denver team was awesome!
How Can anybody forget Melo,Kmart and those guys against Lakers...i remember Kmart had come back from an injury
Carmelo had a better team in Denver those first 7 years than lebron had in Cleveland forsure.
But he was in the west
@@JohnJackson-wu8ci the west was stacked when melo was in Denver
If lebron has that squad he would’ve at least got one ring!
Lebron in Cleveland was always 1 man show expect for few season ps with Kyrie!
@Hustle Combat better comparing giannis team to lebrons early years in Cleveland not Miami he formed a super team
Memorable time in Denver history
I feel happy seen Melo happy
this here is the reason why i am still rooting for blazers melo and sky blue nuggets. just can’t forget that magical year. if dwight can get it this year, so can melo next year
My Ninja Melo Mile High baby the real still love you!
Damn that was one of my favorite teams ever
JJ'S podcast becoming the best basketball talkshow
Melos right at least for me heat big three was where I tuned in
He’s so right lol I didn’t start watching till Boston won in 2008 but was so in and out like a playoff junkie until 2011 when they got together
Smh
I tuned in 2012 but ive turned the clock back quite a bit
Game was better before 2008
Facts for me somewhat. I always saw basketball/espn because of my dad (from like 99-2005) and really started watching it in 2006. Then I really started following heavy with Trades, Seedings, Rosters and such in 2009 or whenever it was LeBrons final year in Cleveland.
I'm 27 and I remember that Denver team VERY well. These young guys need to go look up some highlights.
Loved that Nuggets team
Used to love those damn jerseys in the Melo era.
Well I kno I remember da shyt, cause I was goin craziii watchin tht series against Kobe nd my Lakers!
Denver melo was scary good. As a lakers fan I always dreaded playing that Denver team. Luckily we had a killer in Kobe to lead us passed that Denver team.
I remember his Nuggets days ✌️
Love melo!!
That 2009 Denver team was a monster. So close to being champions. Wish Melo never left Denver. Denver traded to many great pieces away back then. Glad to see them making noise again.
I don’t care what anybody says, as a lifelong Nuggets fan I will always have love for Carmelo! He’s the one that got me into basketball in the first place and I don’t understand the hate he still gets in Denver, it makes me really sad.
Exactly me too! The Nuggets were never good in my lifetime before Melo came to town, and they proceeded to make 7 straight playoff appearances. People hate him for the way he left, but I will always appreciate his time there.
The memes of the nuggets would have been the best
He was a first round bounce in Denver every year beside 2009
Cause team didn't fit well with both AI and melo. Billups is the point guard they needed
Yup, even when they won 50 games, the west was stacked so much that they were still an 8 seed and would come against the Spurs, could’ve been great that team.
And u was sitting on the couch watching with barely enough dexterity to balance your crack pipe in one hand and remote control in the other lol
Ive seen lebron, dwight, melo, duncan, Parker, ginobli, and many others live in their prime. Chauncey billups was the most memorable player I watched, the way he used angles was like nothing else i have seen
LMFAOOOOOO THE TITLE OF THIS EPISODE IS HILARIOUS!!!! WHEN!!!!!!
Exactly! They never made it to the NBA finals ever. Not even close
Word he had his best years in denver.
Chauncey first year in Denver was like Chris Paul's first year in Houston they were both high iq point guards who can change the tempo, run proper plays and help the lesser scorers on the team while letting the star player have the greenlight at times while also making sure they don't go too much overboard
That Nuggets team was the a best Nuggets team to date
Me personally, I missed Kobe and Shaq LA years but Kobe vs the Magic getting his first one after shaq was my start
Still got the big three in Boston before the big three in Miami
Appreciate the crop editing and tracking. It's more intimate and you can get better perspective on his movement.
They where very good. Especially Kenyon and camby man
This Nuggets era of Jerseys 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I was heart broken when melo left, wish he could of stayed I felt like something special was coming.
Denver melo was crazy
Melo, AI, Kmart those where the sickest players denver ever had great team indeed
Between melo and jj Berra are the best nba 🇵🇷🇵🇷Puerto Ricans
devin booker?
Jo Maacke He's from Lesbos
Dnt forget MELO momma is African America and he was born in the States
Melo is not Puerto Rican. His pops is and he never knew his Puerto Rican family. I'm Puerto Rican but stop claiming people that don't belong to us.
Those baby blues were nice!!
Duuuude my favorite team! Lawson, Iverson, Melo, nate robinson, jj Hickson, Faried, Gallinari
if i remember 2 bum inbound passes cause them 2 games...Nuggets vs Magic could be closer
Yup. I still hold a grudge towards Anthony Carter.
Anthony Carter sold them I remember that game
Yup. The Ariza steals.. I remember it vividly
I don’t blame Carter I blame Karl we were the only guys who used a 6’ inboundee
Joel Rainey when I saw carter trying to inbound I knew he was throwing a pick
What happened to Ty Lawson lol I forgot about that guy
He recently just got banned from the China league for posting about Chinese hookers 😂
BenderIsGreat bruh what 😂😂😂
Paschal Wilson Alcohol happened to Ty Lawson, it was a sad story. He plays in China now, and just got in trouble again but for social media this time
He was an alcoholic unfortunately, drank his way out of the league
