    If Anakin came back, I'd like for him to have interaction with Ben Solo. Help him in his journey towards redemption. Ben Solo is a part of the Skywalker legacy. He should "finish what he started".

    • @Rei-ph5zg
      @Rei-ph5zg Před 4 lety +23

      @Zif McNarly In the meantime Anakin killed younglings, betrayed Mace, choked his pregnant wife and more yet got redeemed. Vader didn't regret anything until he met Luke, Kylo shows regret. Sorry but SW isn't real life. If he shows these signs it's obvious he's getting redeemed.

    • @Rei-ph5zg
      @Rei-ph5zg Před 4 lety +3

      @Morgoth Bauglir The thing about Kylo killing Han is that at first you can see he's genuinely being convinced to leave with him but in the end he wants power because in his mind power = no more pain. No one can hurt him. But he loved Han and the act left him even more conflicted and weakened instead. Then he couldn't bring himself to kill Leia. We're shown this to see that there is still hope for Ben Solo and what is Star Wars about if not hope. But I personally believe he's going to go live somewhere far off where he can live in peace, perhaps with Rey.

      Morgoth Bauglir Family or random younglings, both are pretty horrible acts of murder for anyone to commit, it shouldn’t matter. Ben’s possible redemption is just as justifiable if it could happen to Anakin. I do agree that the redemption angle has been done too much, we will see.

    I personally think that what made Palpatine's return in Legends so aggravating was the fact he was resurrected and had a storage of clones of himself and could jump to each body just like that. What J.J. seems to be doing (at least from the trailers) is that he barely managed to survive by pulling a Maul and is forcing himself to remain in the world of the living through the Dark Side and that chair is some sort of life support for his crippled body.

    • @starwars90001
      @starwars90001 Před 4 lety +14

      Is that any better it's the same thing, Palpy's back and Vader died for nothing it really does matter what explanation they use to justify it. Whether it's cloned or he's just strong in the dark side it's still the same problem.

    • @michaelramon2411
      @michaelramon2411 Před 4 lety +5

      @@starwars90001 The best way for the writers to honor Anakin's sacrifice is to make a point that when Palpatine is finally put down for good, even if it's not by Anakin's ghost picking him up and throwing him down a deeper pit, is that it only happened because the Empire fractured and collapsed due to Palpatine's first death. However Palps comes back, he almost certainly has less troops and resources at his command than he did when he died (even if he has a secret ice fleet or whatever). And that is only possible because Anakin killed him the first time.

    • @starwars90001
      @starwars90001 Před 4 lety +6

      @Geralt of Trivia He literally died defending his son, that was the most Jedi thing to do. Now that doesn't matter because the new movies get rid of the old movies.

    • @Sulufy
      @Sulufy Před 4 lety +3

      That's way stupider though. We literally saw the entire Death Star II get blown to dust and he was at the center of it. Plus that means Anakin never even killed him so he never destroyed the Sith. At lease the Legends thing makes more sense given how readily he had access to cloning tech and how he and Plagueis were obsessed with immortality, and technically there Anakin did at least kill him.

    • @nicholasarkis6116
      @nicholasarkis6116 Před 4 lety +1

      I know some are clearly bothered by the return of Palpatine. Totally understand. That said, if they are bringing him back, they should just lean into it. Don't concern yourself with how it "ruins" or "negates" the earlier episodes. For one, I don't think it negates anything if he survived ROTJ. I see a lot of people asking why Palpatine was biding his time all the years between the OT and ST. I think we need to have bigger imaginations here.
      There's any number of ways to bring Palpatine in late in the ST. One way I can see, keeping things simple, is to just say he survived the fall in ROTJ, but was gravely wounded. Perhaps he sought out the help of Snoke to survive. He could teach Snoke his big secret. How to save someone from death. Snoke saved, but kept Palpatine sidelined. Once Snoke was eliminated, Palpatine was freed to make a return. That would explain Palpatine surviving, tie to ROTS, and ease him into the ST. That's just one idea of doubtless many that could work to bring him back in a logical way. I'll reserve final judgment for after I see TROS, but it's certainly possible and not that hard to do.

    Notice how they haven't shown Palpatine's face. Two theories:
    1 - He looks like regular Palps from before his face got messed up, since a clone wouldn't have the scarred face; or

      Even if Sith can't be the ethereal force ghosts (as George Lucas mandates), in the old legends and even in recent stories, they have a vengeful spirit that get entombed in locations and objects of power, its why Korriban was such a place of power. What if Palpatine, after finding out about the Jedi's research into Force Ghosts, and the research of Darth Plagius put into place mechanisms to ensure a resurrection... insert a cult, an sith artifact, a location of power, and maybe a cloning lab and a lot of failed attempts later.
      In SW The Old Republic game, there was a whole tomb of Sith spirits causing all sorts of havoc trying to get back to living.

    I mean, Palpatine could take the ole momin route. Their is a precedent for disney to experiment with ideas for future movies in comics and TV shows to gauge fan reactions. Momin binding himself to his helmet and then creating a darkside portal to build himself a new body was out there, yes, but also fairly well received. So i think it's very possible that we'll see palpatine come back in a simular fashion. Maybe instead of a mask, palpatine bound himself to a ring and used snoke to build or find what he needed to come back in a physical body, but their where unforeseen complications, ( like snoke attacking him when he tried to transfer the ring to his new body or the process was not complete or whatnot.) that made him physically weaker than he should have been and so thats why he's bound to a chair using life support to keep functioning. i think that would keep anikins sacrifice intact while still allowing ole papls to meddle.

Does this mean that he encounters Ahsoka Tano and Ezra Bridger, the only two last known surviving members of the Jedi Religion during the 30 year gap? Does this also mean that Ahsoka and Ezra are dead, since they are technically part of the Religion, since Luke is *the last jedi* ?

    I have my own personal theory that Rey and Kylo are reincarnations of the Daughter and Son of Mortis, and that Anakin’s choice to leave Mortis placed the force out of balance in favor of the Sith, and he only temporarily brought it back in to balance in the Return of the Jedi. I can only hope that he somehow makes a return in the Rise of Skywalker to bring it back into balance permanently, perhaps cementing his place in the Father’s role as keeper of the balance.

    My ideal scenario is when the chips are down , Palpatine tells Ben & Rey that all hope is lost. He hands their ass to them. He tells them that they’re alone and no one will help them. Then you hear a voice in the distance, “No, he’s not”. Then appears Luke, Obi-Wan, Yoda, and lastly, Anakin. Anakin looks at his grandson, smiling, and tells him, “Let’s finish what was started”. In a combined team effort, they use their powers to finally wipe Palpatine from existence. Finally and truly bringing balance to the force.

    I think you can call the 9 films "The Skywalker Saga" in the same way we reffer ro some arcs of comics, like "Crises of The Infinity Earths", "Age of Apocalypse", "Dark Nights: Metal", "War of the Realms" etc. The specific saga are the 9 films, but it's just a part of a whole Canon. The next wave of movies will form other sagas in the Star Wars Canon, like for ex. "Dawn of the Jedi Saga", "The Chiss War Saga", something like that. It's a huge Galaxy, and many many years.

    Let’s not forget that when Dark Empire was written and released there was no prophecy. Anakin was not the Chosen One. He was just a Jedi who turned to the dark side and became Darth Vader in pursuit of power, a power that blinded him and turned him into a monster. It was only the love of his son that broke through to him and was instrumental in redeeming Anakin Skywalker.
    Is it possible that Cylo, before his final demise, at some point instructed Darth Sidious how to download his own conscious into a waiting clone just like Cylo himself has demonstrated and that’s how Palpatine returns?

    It’s the very deed that matters, not the outcome. Anakin was willing to risk his own life to both destroy Palpatine and save his son, that’s what his redemption is based upon imo

  • @zorkwhouse8125
    @zorkwhouse8125 Před 4 lety

    I think you said the key part at the beginning: Anakin choosing to turn on Palpatine. I think that was the moment he redeemed himself. The "killing" was an additional part of it, but the real change and redemption came in that moment when he was watching the emperor hitting Luke with the sith lightning and then finally chooses to go the light path and turns and grabs palpatine. So, Palpatine returning doesn't change the fact that Anakin finally made the right choice and redeemed himself. (at least that's my thinking)
    One way to think about it, in terms of Palpatine coming back - as strong as his essence was, when he fell to the reactor it could have just spread his essence amongst the energy of the reactor, which was then blasted out into space, but also irradiated everything nearby too - and so his essence could have coated any remnants of the death star. The original explosion, before the redo, looked like it left more pieces etc left over afterword and so who knows what survived eh?
    In terms of the prophesy, if Anakin was the most powerful, how come Luke was able to beat him in the original trilogy once Luke had reached his potential (as far as his abilities in the original trilogy)? I like her idea of their being a "chosen" for each generation or something along those lines. It may be that the sequel trilogy changed things to make Anakin more powerful than he was in the original movies.
    I think if they are going to have this movie culminate everything - then it makes sense to have all those other ships and folks in the movie. B/c the rebels and clone wars shows are part of canon and came before this time period, and therefore bringing those to a conclusion could mean having them in episode 9.

    I like to think the prophecy was BROKEN! Palpatine drove "the Chosen One" to the Dark Side, thus destroying it. I've always found the whole Chosen One trope tired as well. (Not to mention his "immaculate conception" Yeesh!) Until I read Joseph Campbell's "The Hero With a Thousand Faces" (Read it, it's amazing). In Classical Mythology prophecies are usually broken. It's kind of the point. It's a promise, an idea. Not a precognitive statement of fact. The Hero is supposed to find his own way. The way Luke decides to throw his Lightsaber away and Vader decides to defy his "Masters" Jedi or Sith. The Clone Wars Jedi are not how Jedi are supposed to be. They aren't supposed to be military Generals, they're Holy Men. That's why Luke Meditating and standing down the First Order was so badass. Anyway, big fan. Keep up the good work.
