  • Really need a drill press and good ventilation. Drilling makes really noxious fumes.

Waaaay more trouble than it’s worth. But your tutorial methodology is excellent.

Wow. This was an extremely helpful video. Planning on changing the valve cover gaskets on a ‘08 G35. Fingers crossed no oil in spark plug tubes. Don’t think I’ll go through hassle of trying to cut out & replace seals.

you also need to take into account that the plastic valve cover gets brittle over time. so in the long run maybe better to get a new valve cover.

A lot unnecessary work, use a dremal next time cut the ring pull it out and sometimes is cheap to get the whole cover from amazon and if you want to use same valve cover get the seals from a 2010 Honda civic 2 per plug and it seals better than the original Good day...

you missed the whole point, you need an almost perfect circle for the new seal

Is that altima tube seals compatible with xtrail tube seal?

Better to replace the cover as it's not that expensive. Just use Nissan OEM Only!! Dorman and others not sealed at the baffles. But if you're going to do this they should follow your steps to the tee.

yikes the Nissan valve covers are several hundred dollars. I bought a valve cover for my 2002 Sentra for under $50 at Rock Auto and it had the baffle in the underside top. came with a gasket and a PCV valve.

Just going through the same process on a Nissan Neo 1.6 ltr in Thailand, valve cover priced at $240, the inner seal holding plate was $106 and the 4 seals were $7.50, then you have to glue it all together. Opted to machine out the old seals and fit new, then machined a metal ring to fit tightly over the seal to hold it in place.
