+Prophets Among Us Thanks for watching! If you use a torque wrench you will need a wrench that can be set to inch pounds, not foot pounds. We just do this by feel, as it is a plastic cover on an aluminum head, so it can be cracked if you tighten it too much.

I couldn't understand why it was rocking on the spark plug tubes.I was afraid something was wrong and brought the cover back and asked why does it seem the holes where the tubes line up seemed way to small. But the said put a little grease on them.I still swear something was wrong because of having to screw the cover down.I was afraid it was gonna push the new gaskets out ,it was so tight fitting .any comments

You put it on immediately, it will set in about 20mins to an hour and be ready to drive in 24hrs with most rtv, you'll want a black/oil resistant type and there is the 90 minutes type and the regular 24 hour cure time type.

Great concise repair instructions. However I found it unnecessary to unclip the spark plug wires. Less chance of confusing the wiring. It was also easier to pull the valve cover off with the back hose attached and pull the hose off separately instead of fighting the lack of room to disconnect it on the car. Otherwise all worked well. I was especially impressed with replacing the entire cover rather than just the seal gasket. I replaced the gasket alone last year and then it started leaking around the sparkplug well. What's another $150 when labor is involved.
    Thanks so much.

well if you're experiencing oil in the spark plug wells, removing the bolts in a certain order is not neccessary. installing them is more important since it's a new cover/gasket & would want to ensure even force on the new rubber gasket

Are the spark plugs tube seals serviceable? I am a mechanic/tech but I can't remember if I've ever had to replace the entire cam cover for those seals. I'm trying to do my good deed for the year right away😎. This the fun part about working at a Volvo dealer , Nissan parts typically are wrong😐
Also are the tubes known to leak like the old Mitsubishi / Dodge engines and can I service the tubes. Like I said before my Volvo parts guys ain't up on their Nissan.

Thanks. Just finished up the job today. Had a bugger of a time getting the gasket to stay in the groove while maneuvering the cover into place. Took me a few tries and I'm sure I smeared my RTV silicone beads. I tried to mop out as much of the oil around the 3 of my 4 plugs prior to swapping them out. Some oil must have gotten into the cylinders as I notice smoke coming out of the exhaust after I fired up the engine. Quickly cleared up though and all seems good. I have no idea how much the shop would have charged for this job. Thanks for the video and the Cover, Gasket & coils kit!!
