Donkey Kong Country Returns is a side-scrolling platform game developed by Retro Studios and published by Nintendo for the Wii console. The game was released first in North America in November 2010, and in PAL regions and Japan the following month.

Na they ported Tropical Freeze which was sufficient I feel. I’d be way more satisfied with a new game with new levels and plot.

Sure the Wii version feels a wee bit more defined and open, however considering they got this to successfully work on 3DS with, arguably anyway, better controls is amazing. 3DS wins in my book for the controls alone.
Kudos Retro Studios.
Also i heard that wii has only a bonus level while in 3ds it's a whole new world of levels :D

@UndeadCollector I care about the 3D. It adds to the game. I always have the 3D turned on. Plus there are 8 exclusive levels and a New Mode. Very well done in my opinion.

I played both versions. Though the 3DS port is impressive and has better controls, the small screen and low resolution of the 3DS makes it kinda meh

Well if you play the Wii version on an actaul wii, not an emulator with enhanced graphics, it’s not significantly better
It has 3D, 8 exclusive new levels in World 9, and a New Mode that makes the game easier. The 3DS version is definitely NOT meh.
I admit, I prefer the Wii version for its graphics, BUT what makes the charm of the 3ds version is the well-made 3d it has 🎮

I like the 3DS version because you can take the game anywhere you go
Its basically the same thing but its portable on the 3ds and there is some exclusivity on the 3ds but the resolution is obviously lower on the 3ds
As someone who doesn’t mind the motion controls, since pretty much all Wii games have it and you kind of get used to them, I still recommend this game on 3DS over Wii for the extra world, and the easier difficulty mode makes it more manageable to fully complete IMO, tho the Wii version is still a great way to play it

I also like the wii as the graphics are clear,cartoonistic and the bosses and all others worlds are also great
This game was my childhood, my brother and I 100% completed this game and beat the golden temple :D

This game felt like it was made for 3ds with the ability you have to go between background and foreground
I played both versions countless times, I prefer the wii version for the resolution but the 3ds version can be played on the go and even has a secret world

3ds is on par with the Wii graphics ( this video enhanced the graphics on the Wii version BTW) it has better controls, an exclusive ninth world, an easy mode and more item. I think the only advantage of Wii is that local multiplayer is much more conventional
I am say the 3ds was more on GameCube level but the Wii wasn't that much more powerful than the GameCube so yea...

Creo que es mejor en la Wii a pesar que la 3ds te lo lleve portátil se siente bastante como los botones no tan bien adaptados como los de Wii se siente más intuitivo así que lo hace más divertido.
Enrealidad, los controles de la versión de 3ds son muy superiores, los de la versión de wii es para jugadores más casuales xd
I got a ds and being 100% honest I don’t care about the screen overall the gameplay is still very smooth i doesn’t really bother me personally.

One of those pick your poison type games. 3DS version has more content, Wii has the full graphical presentation and 60fps (and maybe better audio considering the hardware difference).

I prefer the 3DS-version. Sure, the Wii-version has better graphics, but the 3DS-version has an easy mode and a bonus world. If you don't own DKCR, I would recommend the 3DS-version of the game.

Overall, the game looks and plays better and smoother on Wii.
HOWEVER, Rare managed to get it running on 3DS, whilst still maintaining the classic DKCR vibes, and arguably better controls.
But, I've got a good and powerful enough gaming PC, Dolphin Emulator and a good monitor, so I can play at 1080P 60FPS, which looks better than the wii version!!

Both games look insane with a higher resolution in an emulator. They could release the same game on the switch with a higher resolution today and people will think it’s a new game or something

Actually the graphics is the same, the only changes are resolution and framerate (maybe some textures, but not all)

I will say a few facts, so with the captured gameplay, I have to say that the game looks much prettier in an original 3DS than the video, and if you activate 3D, it even looks much better than the Wii version.
Another thing is that the controls of the 3DS are better, and since it is portable, it is literally better than being in front of a television, you can play that game anywhere with a 3DS.

The 3DS version is sure way better when it comes to controls. But if you play the Wii version on Dolphin, it's really great. It's a shame the game wasn't compatible with the classic controller. It's the definitive way to play it.

Well the Wii one is definitely at high quality, but the 3DS is so underrated because I think it plays a bit better with the controls.

Wellllll when I did have a 3ds back in 2017 I was gonna think about getting this game for it but never did did play the Wii version....I mean ocarina of Time Zelda has better graphics then n64 and it's on the "3ds" lol if say dkcr looks great on 3ds I feel the colors on Wii do look a bit washed out and the 3ds makes it more fun looking to play plus 3ds games don't look that rough and fuzzy at all lol I'd say 3ds wins it's a great system.....I'm just playing D's and gba games on my phone Mario party Ds anyone so much fun so happy to finally have that game!!!!!!!!! :)
