Stuchd an Lochain, Glen Lyon

  • This walk takes in the two munros either side of Loch an Daimh in Glen Lyon. The car splits Stuchd an Lochain & Meall Buidhe and allows for breakfast and then lunch to be taken at the car which is a bit unusual. The weather matched the forecast with the tops clear all day although it didn't look as good further west.
    We also had an enjoyable encounter with Kris of "Scottish Mountain Goat" fame.... its a small world. Please take a look at his CZcams channel as you can only be impressed by its quality and content.

    Thanks guys, this video inspired me to do both on same day (14 August 2022). But drive there and midges helped too! Actually not too bad and views from Meall Buidhe out west were fantastic.

    Brilliant guys, was superb bumping into you both! Small world indeed! It was good to see the views Meall Buidhe, we didn't make it that far unfortunately due to a small accident coming down Stuc an Lochain 😧 Thanks for pointing out all the hills for us too! Hope to run into you again some time 😃 Cheers 👍 Kris.

    Nice one Charlie. I got clagged out on Stuchd but it cleared when I got to Buidhe. Great views towards Rannoch moors. Cheers

      Hi Scot, It's just great getting back to the bigger hills but the glens are crowded at the moment with everyone looking for the outdoors. ATB Charlie.

    Great video as always Charlie. We did them both the day before and the Ben Lawers 7 on the Saturday but very busy. Great to be back out though. Cheers

      The cars parked at the Ben Lawers Group were unbelievable. Everyone is getting into the great outdoors instead of the high street :) ATB Charlie.

    Hi Charlie, just found your channel recently and subscribed # 582. Just going thru your vids for location inspiration and find them very well produced and informative. I’ll be going thru them all while I’ve still got 3 weeks of lockdown to go. Might see you on the hills some day.
    Frank.

    Nice one. I did this route in June. We did Meall Buidhe first. Despite high starting point its hard work going back up again after passing the car!!

      Hi Andrew, I know what you mean as the car generally indicates the end.... We've had a couple of similar occasions when doing the same with the four munros at Loch Trieg, complete two on the west, have lunch and go for the others on the east side. These days are probably behind us now but when you're going well its more than capable. Cheers, Charlie.

      Charlie McCartney yeah. The car generally means the end, so a bit of a mental challenge to get ready for doing it all again! That’s sounds an even bigger challenge with the Loch Treig ones. Still to venture up that way!

    An interesting and enlightening film of an area with which I am not familiar. Was a little confused at first as there is another hill called Meall Bhuidhe about 6km west of your first top, but then I realised that this was not the Munro as it is only 906m and your 932m top was north of the loch! . Did you use a different GoPro for this film or did you post it at a different resolution ? BTW very busy this weekend here in Glen Moriston - visitors everywhere !!

      Hi Ian, I can't believe just how busy the country is at the moment. The car parks, traffic and remote areas are stuffing with people getting out into the outdoors. This movie was shot in 4K as normal but I think YT have improved the quality their end.... but I'm not sure. ATB Charlie.

    • @ianevans7110
      @ianevans7110 Před 3 lety

      Yes, Charlie, it's very busy indeed and most of the locals here are wishing we were back in lockdown !! I think YT improved the quality after I had viewed the video; I have noticed that they did this to the ones I have posted. I think if you get to view early, as I did, sometimes it's before they have improved the quality.

      @@ianevans7110 Ian, I think your right as there is generally a delay on the HD version. Cheers, Charlie.
