  • This walk in Glen Fyne is to the single Munro of Beinn Bhuidhe. A blue sky winter day which was warm providing you were sheltered from the icy north wind. The out and in walk starts from the A83 at the head of Loch Fyne where there is parking at the old bridge.

      I had this idea that there would be more snow on the tops but as I live on the south coast of England I am well out of touch with where there might be snow, I guess there is probably more further north and to the east?

      @charliemccartney7055  Před 2 lety +1

      Hello, I understand that Beinn Bhuidhe is simply derived from the Gaelic for "yellow hill" but not sure what is actually referring to with regards to the landscape. Many thanks for watching. Cheers, Charlie.

    • @charliemccartney7055
      @charliemccartney7055  Před rokem

      Hi Paul, That's a pity but always better to turn back if things get wild. The winter walking is a lot more challenging where simple ground in summer can become very tricky if iced up. Reacting to weather changes is also a vital lesson and one that can't be ignored in these short winter days.
      Cheers, Charlie

    Only done this the once, on a muggy summer day. We cut off he track to the middle of the ridge which seemed quite craggy.
    Something dead in the woods on the way back. Dreadful stench.
    That new building is actually an old one re-developed, is it not?
    Thanks again.

      Hi Geoffrey, Not sure about the building as it was 5 years since the last visit. There are also houses in the same area that appeared quite new but its probably my memory that's the issue. I'll have a look back at the photo archive and see if I captured footage during the last trip. Cheers, Charlie.

      That looks like a good route Charlie, I took the longer road in via the brewary and up left at the old house. I took the hydro path down Peter thinking it would be quicker but it was awful esp on the knees, very loose and steep at parts. Hopefully u'll get it ticked off this year Peter - Charlie look forward to ur next outing. I'm keeping an eye the next decent weather window.
