There is no need to apologize for not posting while taking care of your family. They must always come first. Whenever we miss our daily fix of Rainman Ray there are a thousand videos to go back and re-enjoy, doodly-do and all.
I miss the doodly-do. I thought he said he bought a ringer, but had not installed it yet.
@@brucedale4465 I am 22 and sometimes my hearing is sensitive. Don't blast your ears with headphones.
I hear ya...barely!
I keep looking for a new guy at work named “Peter.” He has no idea what’s coming! Lol
Yeah Ray, what he said.
No problem Raymond, having been a child I instantly recall catching almost every illness that came along. I do hope that you and Lauren are feeling better.
Hey Ray, I noticed that you left a flashlight in the left rear wheel area. I just thought I would let you know. Keep up the great work and I hope you and your family have a great Christmas! 🎄
I was about to comment the same. You can see it at 43:01 mark
Saw the Short of him finding it after the test drive and watching his own vid. Thank God for good magnets.
Yup I saw that also.
This he did
A zip of lube and an air hose to super-spin those nuts up the rods... now that's
what I call ingenuity!
I like using a cutoff wheel on the U-bolts, doesn't hurt the threads as much. After the cut, I take a take a grinder and remove the sharp edges. Only takes a couple seconds, helps prevent nasty cuts.
You flip a bird….because it was the bluebird of happiness
When our kids were small, we had two Christmas breaks when we were all sick.
Remember .. when you are self-employed .. you are indestructible 👍
I will stay up past the bed time to stay updated.
You never cease to amaze. I loved the air hose trick. Hope everyone gets to feeling better soon.
Bad day for A-Rod. Thank you Ray have a better week.
Thank you for the explanation and I am sorry you all had the bug. Was thinking the worst, like I can imagine how much work goes into making these videos and I just thought you might be going to give it up. I myself depend on your videos probably because I am disabled and your videos takes my mind off of the pain. Theirs not a lot of channels on you tube that do what you do, step by step repairs. Thank you for staying with us, and I am very sorry that you all were sick. My name is Guy, and I live in, unfortunately, California.
Welcome back! Hope everyone is feeing better soon.
amazing video Ray I will say a prayer for you and the family 🙏
LOVE the creativity you brought to the air gun, it's nuts!!!😂😂
Welcome back from the land of the sick! 🤢 😷 Ha!! Sorry you all got sick but I'm happy you all are feeling better!! Ok have a great day and a better tomorrow!! 😊
Work smarter not harder. Using air on nuts was awesome
Ray, you got a life. We are all just happy that you take us along for some of it. You do whatever you need for you and your family and if you have time to take us along then that is good for me. Cheers! Feel better to you and your family... Happy Holidays as well!
Merry Christmas & Happy Prosperous, Healthy New Year to you Ray, Wife Unit & Kid Units
Sorry to hear that your family was ill. I hope you are all feeling better. Cool trick using the air gun to run those nuts up the U-bolts! That's a new one on me.
A little trick I learned from a machinist on cutting he U-bolts to length: run two nuts up the threads, cut the extra length with a cutoff wheel (does less damage to the threads), then run the second nut off to clean up the threads. This has always worked well for me.
Good advice thank you
I know all of us yesterday was like where’s Ray! If you are ever kidnapped just know you will be found lol.
United We must stay!!!
no need to apologize for having to take care of you and your family. the sickness you had, my daughter and i are also getting over.
1. good to see you back and i hope everyones ok. 2. family comes first. i know youtube will see diffrently but family comes first.
Oh the sounds of a Needle Gun!!!!! A US Sailors best friend when reporting to a boat. The sound of that brings back many memories of long days of chipping paint!!!!

Hi Ray excellent video on Canada truck and as always you and you’re families be safe and also Dave and his families 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Wow! I was wondering what happened. Glad you and the family are all feeling better.
Yes, sir!! A house decided cannot stand!!!!!
"Wish in one hand, Poop in the other and tell me which one fills up first". Happy to help 🙃
206th! HIP-HIP-HURRAY! Good Tuesday morning Ray and the wife unit. And the same to the new employees! Roger in Pierre South Dakota
Sitting here watching you struggle with those last two rear bolts started me wondering why they were so much more difficult than the others. The only thing I could come up with was cross-threading. Now, I know you would NEVER make that mistake, but...
Yes. Ray should've stopped with the "More Torque" and investigated the issue more thoroughly. My guess was that the nuts and bolts were a different thread pitch. And he should've use flange bolts on the fronts instead what he used. But, he was in a hurry at the customers expense...which made watching him fight tightening those fasteners unbearable.
@@Rocket39Smoke14 God will you shut up you miserable bastards. It's not your vehicle.
@@Rocket39Smoke14 Went back and looked at when he spun the nuts on by hand. Nuts spun freely until the self-locking portion was reached, then they became difficult to turn.
Would not be the 1st time finding some over-stamped self-locking nuts in my days of wrenching on just about anything mechanical.
We're the old nuts used on new bolts ???
@@stephentootle6388 No. New bolts and nuts,
My kids came home with chicken pox. They got a few sores and a slight fever. I got 5 waves of sores and a 105.6 fever. Almost died at 36 years old. Never had chicken pox before. You're a lucky man.
That was the title of a movie I saw a long time ago. 😂
These series give me a new appreciation for what mechanics have to deal with.
Regarding the other truck’s transmission, I had an ‘89 Volvo 740 that had damage to the radiator and mixed coolant with the transmission fluid. My mechanic did 3 flushes and filled transmission with correct fluid (after replacing faulty radiator) and thereafter the transmission worked fine. Yah old Volvo!
You're a beast of a mechanic Ray.Feel better soon brother.
Running nuts up with the air gun works 100% of the time 25% of the time 😂
13:38 laughing out loud- HA HA HA
Rayyyyy. Family first take care 👍
Awesome air gun trick!!😊
I find the energy you have to keep this video feed coming is truly amazing.
Heh... before I retired from teaching, I was guaranteed to be sick 3 times a year, at the start of the school year, holiday break and spring break. Since retiring and my own kids growing up and moving out, I haven't been sick a single day 😂
Glad you are back Ray! We missed you.. Hope you feel better soon. One of the only drawbacks from owning your own shop... no paid sick days!
when you have it ready will watch it
thankyou Ray,,,a very enjoyable video,,,good to hear you are all on the mend,,👌👌
Good video Ray!! Thanks!!
Regarding your U-bolts: I chuck an auto body eraser wheel into my drill and spin it against the nut. Next I use a recip saw (Diablo blades are my favorite), but I use a second nut. I use it to both cut a straight end on the bolt and chase the threads for future removal of the nut that's holding everything together.
Or you could put a 12" extension on the ratcheting crowsfoot, and use the electron ratchet on it .
@@patrickpattberg8551 If I would invest in a set of those I definitely do that instead.
Trailer wheels on the truck go round and round. Round and round. Round and round...
I will say I was surprised to see our boy order two complete sets of springs instead of just replacing the broken spring. Not to feel slighted though, we watched him loose his flashlight and order the wrong amount of U bolts so all was not lost ha ha ha …
Always replace spring packs in pairs. After a decade of use an old one will never flex/support like a new one. And if one breaks the other may not be far behind.
@@armslength2618 That truck maybe has a year to go with the rust. If the truck was going to be around for several years different story. Even with the rust I would have repaired it instead of wasting the money. Have repaired many over the last 40 years never a problem.
@@turner0224 I did mine 6 weeks ago, one week apart. Could definitely feel the difference between the new and old. Nothing huge, but you could certainly feel a lurch going over bad roads. With big weight it probably would have been worse.
Great video Glad everyone is feeling better. I like seeing the air impact this time.😂🎉.
Family always come first ray
Some rust converter on the rear axel and a bit of protection on the new parts and it would be a perfect repair.
If you did it the parts will go much longer, even in Canada.
Rolling in the dirt, nice
Family first Ray always 👍👍.
Everyone here in CZcams land will always be here ready and waiting.
Hope you feel better soon.
Cheers
You were definitely missed..BUT al ways take the time you need! We will be here.
All the best to you and your family 🇦🇺
Good video. A cool trick. A 3 Dog Night reference. And the usual appearance by mean Mr. Gravity.
Watching paint dry, grass grow. We understand the idea of family first.
Your Super-air Spinny method makes a cool sound too‼️. More- Air-Pressure ‼️
That's cool Ray
I have two of those type tape measures, one in the wife's kitchen junk drawer and one amongst all my other ones in the garage, and most of them are hiding from me with a pencil next to them !😊
Most enjoyable, liked the astro spirol anti gravity on the nuts!
Howdy Ray, it's great to see you today.
Family first 😊
Great video!
At 42:59 in the video. Right before you leave and you are checking the ride height, you left your flashlight in the wheel well.
Ya, I saw the Short of him finding it before I watched this, so all was ok :)
Good day ray and hi Dave
Thank goodness for a new video. I think I'm suffering from withdrawal lol 😆 Another great video Ray
Holy reeeeeee rust city Rainman!😳
Welcoming back!
Love going back and 2nd video to finish up a job.
Sorry to hear you caught the family flu crud. That's rough.
Hope you're feeling better, not just better enough
Cross threading is nature's loctite 😏
Glad y’all are on the mend. Love to you and the family so nobody is sick the rest of the year!
Get well friend❤
A Rainman Ray master class in how to tighten cross threaded nuts.😂😂
I'm lucky to have a local company that can make u-bolts in any size and configuration in a few minutes.
MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and your family Ray!
Get feeling better Ray,
hoping you and family feel 100% soon
Hope the fam is all well!
I was thinking this morning what was going on
Glad everyone is getting better
Good morning Ray
And that is why it is called the SMOD (Strawberry Milkshake Of Death)
Thanks for informing people to move over, I've seen cars flying by vehicles on the side of the road, I saw a car 2 days ago on the intestate that didn't even move over for a cop!
That was pretty cool with the air gun and the nuts.
Be well, take care of yourself.
I figured something was up with no new videos the past few days. Sorry to hear there was a "bug" running through your household. Hope everyone is feeling better. Thanks for this repair video. Interesting the stocking of a "universal" type U-bolt, makes sense so they only need to carry one type for both applications. Keep up the good work.
Glad yer back, hope the wife unit and the x files are doing well.
Sickness sucks
Good day to you Ray another most excellent video Ray but the most important thing is to have your self a great day Ray
You can also use a wire cup for a drill. The spinning wires grab the edges of the nut and spins it too
Hope you guys all get well quick and soon. Everyone, including me, at work got sick with the cold last week.
Awe that sucks ray I've been thru that with the kids hope you all get better soon loren keeps it all together for you a true keeper great job on springs he'll notice a huge difference
Your videos are worth the wait. As a parent/grandparent/great grandparent guard your health.
Hope you, Lauren and the kid units are all doing better now. Flu season is no fun with kids in school.
Good morning Ray. Our family had the same experience with the flu last week with the child and wife unit. I am glad you are back and better.
Hey Ray, glad to hear you and the wife unit are fighting the good fight with the family flu. I've spent a good chunk of my life listening to guys talk shop across many industries. I can continue to do that with your videos and chat. The guys in the chat crack me up. So much fun! The dad jokes are epic, lol. Love the air gun and lube trick! 😉😁 Just an old lady waving a hand at ya!😎
Had one of those Canadian rust buckets, complete with hole in the driver's floor. Now I have a true Texas car and it's a joy to work on compared to the old rust bucket. 😂
You're not a true driveway mechanic until you have a small pile of rust and dirt fall into your eye thanks to a rust belt specials 😅
And of course as usual I did enjoy the video so thank you for sharing it with us
Wow, you went to work when you did not feel like it? Crazy Talk! You're my hero!
Welcome back Ray, I hope you feel better soon.
Ty! I’m on the mend this evening
