One of the finest rock bands ever. Their music is as good today as it was in the 80's. I will be a Cars fan forever. I miss beautiful Ben!!!! LOVE THE CARS!!!!

We had our time…it was special only to us and going back to those times (a 2nd time) would be less than pleasing. I’d like to be young again but not in the 80s; I’d want to start afresh.
The greatest guitar players will show you how to surf and float. Will use feedback to slightly drip in and sp effects to their advantage. Elliot is surfing. Bassist will warm the songs, set the tone and fill the grooves. Ben is the fire. Singers will take you somewhere into another time and dimension. Rick is the super-advanced alien being. Keys will bring the mysterious dark matter into view as the sun fades to dark. Greg is the dark energy. Drummers will make you feel life in the natural synchronization peaks in the left and right hemispheres of your brain. David is the fusion power plant. Deep huh,,, There will never be another Cars.
Like most great surprises, I stumbled across this concert on here and was blown away by their high quality live delivery..... and as for this song........ the live version generates such energy it just knocks the studio version into submission.... this is totally mesmeric!!! Genius!

Wow, went to The Cars show 1984 in Seattle with my girlfriend, they rocked for 2 hours, my favorite concert ever, and I've been to a hundred! Thankyou Cars! RIP Ric and Ben, you showed us a way out of the 70's.
Let's face it , The Cars were the 80s ! And the end of the 70s ! They brought the color and the music to set the stage for the funniest decade EVER! R.I.P. Rik and Ben .... we miss you .....❤
you really don't need lyrics for any of their songs, the music is great all by it self. amazing just how good they were, too bad it couldn't last. this is one band I wish would've lasted as long as the Stones have.
Been a fan of the cars since the mid 80’s. Therefore I have discovered some of their stuff that came earlier than that time in the last several years like “ The Dangerous Type” and “ A Dream Away”. I love both of these songs. The rythym beats of this song are awesome. First the percussion , then the bass cutting in. A great start to a great song. I saw The Cars live in the same year as this concert. That makes those cute young blondes in the front row “twerking” to the beat in their mid 60’s by now. Yet here I am in the same age group listening to this music in 2024, and still loving it. That makes this group and their music timeless. It also assures that they will always be great. RIP to BEN ORR and RIC O’ CASEK. Also RIP to my good friend GINO who turned me on to THE CARS 40 some years ago. He lost his courageous battle with Parkinson’s in 2019. The world is less interesting without him in it now.
Yes, isn't that moment wonderful? The crowd responds in kind not only because it's a cool, phat musical moment but because they hear that the bass is actually the linking element in this performance of the song, bringing all of the other layers of sound in and typing them together.
I JUST LOVE GREG HAWKS! ONE OF THE BEST SYNTHESIZERS PLAYERS EVER! THIS SONG IS OF COURSE BADASS AS ALL CAR SONGS ARE. SURE MISS SEEING BENJAMIN ORR ON STAGE THESE DAYS. IT'S JUST NO THE SAME AT ALL! I MISS HIS LOOKS AND HIS EXCELLENT VOICE. LOVE THE CARS ALWAYS!
Greg Hawkes is the x-factor. That keyboard and his other contributions are what gave the cars that different sound and the rock into new wave effect. He’s so good.
Yes, there's something so mysterious about this song, the way it builds. It sounds great on the "Shake it Up" album but live, its something else. You can even forgive Ric's clunky lyric "Chicken encounters, fill your bowls". Brilliant when the bass comes in, and Mr. Orr is looking incandescent in this performance. Whew!!
I was a junior in high school when the cars hit the scene in '78. One of the coolest bands i'd ever heard. Not one but two lead singers, a great left handed guitar player, incredibly tight band! Their music sounds as fresh today as it did then. Saw them in Tucson in'79 and '87. R.I.P Ben
