- MacBook Pro / 10.8 Mountain Lion running Parallels Desktop 8. Inside Parallels we have 10.6 Snow Leopard Server and Rosetta. FreeHand MX is running fine within the virtual machine. Printing PostScript-files and exporting for Illustrator works.
I hope this will help somebody who has a new Mac but wants to be able to run older software like FreeHand MX.
Edit: I just installed the non-server version of 10.6 and got it working. You have to make some tweaks in Terminal etc.

Thanks buddy. I wish, this Christmas, that Macromedia will make a comeback with Freehand.
Yes I did. The system preference in parallel has only the 1024 x 768.
You could post a question on the Parallels Desktop forum?
Have you checked the display settings in System Preferences on your virtual machine?
Parallels Desktop does not include SL Server or Rosetta. You have to get Parallels and install SL Server after that.
Have you you tried rebooting the virtual machine? Have you installed Rosetta? I found a few similar cases on Google. Try googling Unix Executable File installer OS X.
Just a heads up if you're running Maya and Max on Bootcamp: Parallels will mess up your licenses big time. At least this was true with v7, dunno if that changed with 8.

Somehow my screen is stretched to 1024 x 768 and looking ugly when I am in to freehand on parallel. Where my new MacBook Air 2013 model can display at a much higher resolution. How can can get it to the highest resolution? Your advise please. thanks.
SL is the tweaked version non the SL server version
I’m still using FreeHand MX (started with FH 2.0!) in 2018! I don’t think this video is relevant anymore though as Apple took that “classic mode” function away years ago.
Snow Leopard Server 10.6.8 is now only $20 at Apple! Call Apple support and ask, they will mail to you. Besides Parallels, FreeHand also works using Fusion or VirtualBox with Snow Leopard.
Is it true that 10.6 Snow Leopard Server and Rosetta are installed separately from the Parallels Desktop 8. That mean 10.6 Snow Leopard Server does not come with Parallels Desktop 8?
Hi I just installed SL on parallels 8 in ML, I want to install FHmx but the installer appears as a terminal file (Unix Executable File) can you help me with this error? I really need to install FHmx!!! please!!!
I´ve tried rebooting, I´ve installed Rosetra (checked)!! i´ll google it right away!!!, later I´ll comment to you again!
how do you do that at 0:10
Gracias por el vídeo!! ffh

I put El Capitan on my Mac, knowing that FH isnt compatible, and Im really starting to regret it
No, my friend. There are millions like you.
FH forever. It's helping me bring food to the table and a roof over my head. I need a new mac now and I am so afraid that of not getting my FH to work ....
I seriously need to upgrade my OS but im nervous Freehand MX wont work. Im thinking about pulling out my G3 blue white just to run freehand. Best software ever!!!
