Short clip of the first and second boss battles against Zodd Nosferatu (including cutscenes), from the Berserk PS2 game. For anyone interested, the game takes place between volumes 22-27 (Millennium Falcon Arc). The game was never released in North America
The game itself is quite fun, with levels switching between linear map-like areas and boss-battles. The linear sections are a little dull and it takes some time to traverse later maps (especially when not being able to understand level objectives), but the boss battles are rather exceptional.

For a ps2 game this game's animations are god-like.

Gonna be honest, im tired of this "Let From Software make a Berserk game" meme. Capcom would definitely be a better company to do it since Dragons Dogma was basically Berserk
What would be better is if From and capcom worked on it together.
I think Valhalla (or whatever Tomonbu Itagaki's new studio is called) would be a great fit, especially if combat is like that of Ninja Gaiden Black's, but slightly slower.

If there is a game that knows how to do combat right with all the cinematical stuff, its this game! Holy shit it feels so immersive when the blades strike each other.
Is it weird that I actually kinda like the noises Guts’s sword is making? Sure it sounds like he’s tearing open a black hole every time he swings it but I like intense sounds like that. (Plus he’s swinging a sword bigger than he is with one hand in a world where that’s a crazy thing for an ordinary person like him to do, so that makes some sense at least)

the director of dark souls, Hidetaka Miyazaki admits that he loves berserk and made even a boss that refers to Guts: Artorias the Abysswalker.
I FUCKING KNEW IT. I was watching the newer Berserk movie and thought "this guy reminds me of Artorias". Especially when he' in the forest with an arrow threw his hand.
The witch Beatrice was also a loli in the original cut, you can still find the original model of her in the game.
Since she follows Artorias into the Abyss it's fitting.

sageky I played it, and it was a blast. The combat was awesome and the endless enemy hordes made you feel like you are walking in Guts's shoes. Swinging his huge sword and dismembering your enemies was so satisfying. I think in this new mousou game you can't even dismember your enemies. In fact this game was so good that I will try to get my hands on it again rather that buying yet another dynasty warriors clone...
They also got the sword physics down in this game. In the new game, it's like he's waving around a plank of wood rather than a hunk of iron.
When was this made? it looks incredible for a ps2 game.

I can already tell this was emulated by how bad the ssound effects sound.
Especially with the constant slow down, which also messes up the sound even more.
Emulation can run and sound well, but you have to spend a lot of time. I wonder when PS2 emulation is gonna work as well as PS1 and earlier emulation.
If you have a decent enough PC build then most PS2 games work perfectly through emulation these days. I played this 4 years ago using my old desktop though, which explains the poor framerate and slow down at times.
Probably poor emulation settings, probably slow CPU, maybe both. But on most computers you can get games to run relatively seamlessly if you take the time to properly tweak emulation settings.
The game ran fine on its own, but I used Fraps to record on my older (slower) desktop which pretty much killed the framerate during this play session

Bro the animations in the cutscenes and combat mechanics are way better than the 2016 anime. Yes, I am still complaining how they managed to make this game look better than the 2016 one with better technology and animation studios in place. They even know how a huge sword should sound like when it swings and clash with another sword, not just dashing in a audio recording of two cast-iron skillet smashing together.
Literally just got past this part in the manga.
I was pleasantly surprised to see how much of the cutscenes were taken directly from it, composition-wise.
This actually looks pretty dope.
Not only that, the camerawork and the modeling in this game were pitch-perfect. I actually still think this is the best animated adaptation of Berserk so far, even with those recent OVAs. The modellers in this game really took their time to match Miura's artwork.
PLEASE GOD LET PLATINUM MAKE A BERSERK GAME

My gods if I wish I was in Japan when this was released I would have loved it. Berserk is my all time favorite manga/anime series, and this game looks pretty damn close to the source material. Plus seeing Guts just blast enemies in the face with the cannon always makes me smile ^_^

I bought this pirate game as a boy, I was about 9 years old at the time, the scenes I had from the eclipse felt like something I shouldn't be playing but the gameplay felt so good and despite not understanding shit because it was in Japanese. Details like the sword getting covered in blood and the enemies flying to pieces are things that stuck with me.
This game really capture guts movement so perfectly imagine if it's with current budget it would be so amazing

+Josuke Higashikata i don't know, but i feel like it serves to supplement the overall tone of this scene. griffith is reborn, godlike, and could kill guts here and now. he's displaying his control over his feelings for guts by confronting him, so it's appropriate at least to have him sound masculine / confident. having guts sound more childish in this scene definitely plays to how guts is in this moment. he's broken and he's been trying desperately to put himself back together, and now he has to deal with the object of all of his pain face to face. I CAN EXCUSE IT BECAUSE IT HAS THEMATIC TIES BUT I AGREE THEY SOUND UNCHARACTERISTICALLY OPPOSITE.
I have no idea what you're on about. Nobutoshi Canna's returning role as Guts was manly and excellently realized. This is the definitive adaptation of the scene, and Canna is the definitive voice of Guts.

Zodd is significantly smaller in this for some odd reason. In the show he is he at least 2.5x times bigger then Guts, after transformation 3.5x times

+snake1mi He is smaller in his human form, but his Apostle form is accurate. When they first fight; Guts only comes up to about his stomach while he is in his human form.

The Berserk series has been ongoing for 27 years since it began, I think the berserk series will end at Volume 50. Which I assume that after this arc of the elf island, there will be one more arc after this which will end the series, I can see that when guts see's The elf king, Guts will be set free from the brand of sacrifice for he had for a while. To be able to defeat Griffith and the god hand. Guts cannot defeat them, because darkness cannot win against darkness, especially with the berserker armour which is the representation of darkness. I imagine that guts will receive a new armour, new power that doesn't cause harm to himself like the berserker armour. Guts will transform from darkness to light from the support of the Elf King, to be able to defeat Griffith and the God Hand.

Actually I think the ash and undead could. Simpily because they can weild and use weapons and armor of similar calibur of gut's.
They may be able to wield weapons similar to the hunk of raw iron Guts uses, but that still doesn't put them on the same level as Guts. In the manga it is stated that Guts moves faster then the eye can track, is able to swing dragonslayer at blinding speeds, and has reflexes so spot on that they would put Bruce Lee to shame. Even with all this Zodd pushed Guts to his limits, while in his human form. So while they may be amazing warriors, they're not on the level of the Black Swordsman, or the Beast Swordsman
+Mystic Midgit Now I agree that Guts is pretty god like but I remeber having heard somwhere that leveling up, somthing required for the chosen and ashen undeads is an art that pushes their limits beyond human. Though I feel that guts would kill the chosen undead and the ashen one I feel they would win in any repeated encounters. They too have killed gods and op beings.

Look better than the firts pv for new CGI anime ... not grafical, but the fluidity of the movement looks much better, no so robotic (of course i'm talking about the cinematic scene's)

One of the best games from back in the day. Sadly the anime shud have gotten more episodes but i guess poeple were more interested in gundam and DB at the time.
Imagine if guts became an apostle, plus that apostle used the berserker armor. That wud be insanely strong.
