- Berserk: Millennium Falcon Hen Seima Senki no Shō (ベルセルク 千年帝国の鷹篇 聖魔戦記の章 Beruseruku Mireniamu Farukon Hen Seima Senki no Shō?) is the second video game based on the manga Berserk. It was released by Sega-Sammy in Japan for the PlayStation 2 on October 7, 2004. Sammy licensed the game to YBM-Sisa for a Korean version, which was released at the same time.
Its predecessor, Sword of the Berserk: Guts' Rage, was released on Dreamcast by ASCII in 1999. Both Berserk video games were created by the Japanese developer Yuke's.
The game's story covers part of the Millennium Falcon Arc from the manga volumes 22 to 27. With its more detailed polygonal models, it is visually more sophisticated than its five years' predecessor on Sega Dreamcast. The maps are much larger than in the first game. Motion Capture process was used for added realism in character moves. Voice dubbing was made with the original anime TV series cast.

Only in regards to the CGI. The 2d shots are gorgeous.
Those 2D shots looked better than this, most of the time, but LowkeyMochi was right about these cutscenes being more accurate to Miura's style. When it comes to colours, and shot composition, editing, grittiness, tone and so forth, this feels like it's exactly how Miura would want it.
It'd be great if there was a PS4 port, with improved textures and models. That said, I don't think accurate necessarily means good, the Ghost In The Shell animated movie is a testament to that.
Talking about how good the 2D shots were in the new anime, the Blu Ray version is planned to have a lot of the CGI replaced with new 2D animation. When that comes out, I'll definitely be giving the series another try.
ActionHank75 the 2D and 3D shots both look like trash.
I know this is a year too late, but you wanna know why the 2D shots look good? They are traced 1:1 from the manga. And when they are not, they barely have any details.

These cutscene 3D models from the ps2 era stands a good test of time, the art style is very close to the manga's characters, animation and art style feels much better than the new anime. That talks a lot about the artists that worked on this ps2 game. Wish they could use these models and animations for the series.
They could use the models, but the current animators of Berserk 2016 wouldn't know what to do with them.
I know this comment is like 4 yrs old but the thing that i personally like is that the original cast from the 1997 anime adaptation it's on this game it almost feels like we got a new season plus Susumu Hirasawa it's also here so i have to say that this is even better than the next adaptations we got from berserk even if it's from a videogame and not an anime

When the art style from a PS2 game is better than a 2016 anime.
This is a different method of animation with different objectives. Berserk 2016 makes heavy usage of 3d models that poorly attempt to look like 2d anime animation because the studio that's making that trash is completely unmotivated and unskilled but this game was meant to look like a game.

My uncle had this game. He was a big japenese games fan. He discovered this game at 2009 and he loved it. He discovered there was a comic about so he read it. Berserk is his favourite manga of all time. He share this manga with me. My uncle is the best.

I was actually thinking the same thing. Not overall of course, but this generally felt good watching. Sure the movies had some kick ass animation here and there but it also had a lot of at least equally laughable flaws. And thats just the animation, dont even get me started on the cuts and changes in the story. And thats the bigger issue if you ask me.

The graphics are about the best for its time, perfect motioncap animations, good pace, gameplay, story ofc, Susumu Hirasawa... God bless Berserk. Now we wait for better modern adaption. AHHH HEEEJAY FOOOSES
For cgi animation yeah, but none of that compares to actual hand drawn anime animation like in the 1997 Berserk.

I had this game and 100% it back in 2010, the characters modeling is surprisingly really good for a ps2 game.
I really loved that little fairy thing " Puck " so cute! even though the game is really dark and bloody but puck manage to put some comedy in the game.

If they hadn't used CGI nobody would have complained about it. But the thing is, that CGI is much cheaper than drawing.
+Joufa Kraniger I agree. It isn't the best way of telling the story, but it makes the monsters look more grisly, the animation would be easier to make, and the gore is much more noticeable. Though, it still sorta weirds me out that Farnese doesn't have nipples.

What I don't like about the new Berserk Anime, is that it's a bit....rushed or something like this. The first episode had no really explaination and wasn't a good intro for a series like Berserk.

1. Dragonslayer: Advanced Swordsman Techniques
(such as Parrying, more sword combos, enhanced sword attacks to break opponent's defense.)
2. Mercenary: Adds usage of Tactical Weaponry

Throwing Knives + Enhanced = Mini bombs)
3. Berserker: Become an unstoppable force with the Berserker Armor
(Depending on Lower % of Health and/or Higher % of Super Meter:
1. Restores and Reduces Damage Taken
2. Increase Damage
Upon Activating Berserker Armor(must "lose" match and have at least 1 Enhanced pip ready for use to automatically activate):
1. Restores Health but drains it slowly to 1%(opponent will be unable to "FINISH" you off upon defeat.)
2. Normal Attacks become more powerful, faster, Unblockable, and UnBreakable but takes away ability to do Specials and Locks up Super meter(Lower % of Health = Increased Damage)
3. Gains Armor, even while attacking, but takes away your ability to Block(Invulnerable to opponent's X-Ray Attacks and Lower % of Health = Increased Armor))

The movie looks better than the movie. I was telling me friends that if the movie quality transitioned to the anime (which it should have come on it's cheap ass fucking CGI) the anime wouldn't be too bad. It makes me upset that the quality was greatly downgraded.

Aged like fine wine, the second best adaptation in my opinion, very faithful to the manga and killer soundtrack
I wish this game would get a remaster for modern consoles (the graphics can stay the same just a bit upscaled) so it would finally have a global release and not be japan exclusive.

@@touchingisjustthefirststep Why are you lying like that? The voice actor for Guts in this game is Nobutoshi Canna, the same guy who also voiced Guts in the '97 anime. Among others he also voiced Kabuto from the Naruto series and he is most definitely not dead.

The Berserk series has been ongoing for 27 years since it began, I think the berserk series will end at Volume 50. Which I assume that after this arc of the elf island, there will be one more arc after this which will end the series, I can see that when guts see's The elf king, Guts will be set free from the brand of sacrifice for he had for a while. To be able to defeat Griffith and the god hand. Guts cannot defeat them, because darkness cannot win against darkness, especially with the berserker armour which is the representation of darkness. I imagine that guts will receive a new armour, new power that doesn't cause harm to himself like the berserker armour. Guts will transform from darkness to light from the support of the Elf King, to be able to defeat Griffith and the God Hand.
Also Kentaro Miura interview in the year 2000.
The interviewer ask Kentaro a question and said "Is it even possible that we’ll see a happy ending?
And Kentaro said "I’d say it’s possible. I used to have the final moves planned out, but lately I’ve been thinking I’d rather figure them out when I come to it, so now it’s hard to say what could happen. Being the sort of person I am, though, I actually don’t think I could let such a long grim story end with a grim ending - like, say, having him suddenly die. Not to mention i don't remember what noteworthy things Grunbeld did after this fight, like what he introduced some of the kids to his band or he's seen attacking Ganishka?
He should've died here and i'm glad the PS2 game goes through with this idea.

I was looking up the references to Berserk in Dark Souls. I thought the Four Kings were most likely a reference to these Holy 4 Kings, but now i got this image in front on me. This so obviously inspired Ingward and the layer of the roof of New Londo's church where he is found: put this image on inverted lighting and you get a dark near-replica.

Well guy's this is the closest thing we'll get to an Anime of Beserk after the Eclipse Arc :l
I really liked the subplot about that noble boy who became an apostle. Every time I see any Berserk material I get thirstier for the ending! I just wan't to see how it will end and if I'm right about certain things. Man troll entrails Slan is so creepy! Slan is the creepiest most unnerving member of the god hand anyway imo and frankly the only one who I consider genuinely unsettling.
So...Guts falls to the floor and instead of someone attending to his wounds they just start talking amongst themselves? I mean he has life threatening wounds!
To be fair only Puck can really do anything about that.

Well, Puck was making contact with him. Puck constantly releases elf dust, which would heal him on contact... so... that kind of is first aid.
The armour dealt with any broken bones of course.
