I saw this same show in N.Y. 1994. The concert brochure said the stage is 120 feet wide. It takes a crew of 60 technicians three days to set up the entire lights and all. The concert schedule required that there had to be three entire crews to keep up. They leap froged each other for 92 shows with 20 Trucks per crew and a total staff of 195. The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION…
I have seen Pink Floyd 4 times. Nick Mason’s drumming is incredible and matches Gilmour’s guitar emotions while Richard Wright takes us on a Magic Carpet Ride of tones that form the foundation of it all.
I met David Gilmour in 1984 back stage at a concert in Hollywood Calif. He gave me a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know, and I know all the great ones.

The combination of Gilmour's soulful guitar, Wright's musical environments, Mason's innovative, precise and well-tailored drumming, and Waters' amazing lyrics was a magic that I fear may never come again.

I can totally vibe with you. In the mid 80s I saw them for the first time. Before they started this song, they blew a HUGE cloud of dry ice fog out over the crowd. When they went into the chorus, "A distant ship smoke on the horizon...we are only coming through in waves..." they had this cool laser light show with a green laser painting an image in the fog above us of waves. So it looked like you were under water with the ocean waves cresting above you. It was undoubtedly among the most surreal experience I have ever had. I caught myself staring slack-jawed at the spectacle. I looked around, and everyone else was standing slack-jawed too, so I figured I was okay. LOL

@@RaymondBCrisp exactly …I saw them at Nassau Coliseum, Madison Sq Garden, LA Coliseum for the Momentary Lapse of Reason tour and Yankee and Giants Stadium for the Pulse Tour. At the indoor shows when I looked up at the ceiling it was a cloud of smoke the entire arena was high and when the bed came flying down and exploded during Time, it was insane. The whole vibe was just indescribable. It’s sad that we will never be able to experience something like that again. I also feel sorry for the kids today who don’t have a clue as to what it’s like to go to a real concert .

She was a teenager during the 70’s and I saw her struggle through so much and I really miss her. She was a great mother and I wish I could have done so much more for her than I did. No one plays guitar quite like David Gilmour. The emotion, feel, and expressiveness of Gilmour is unmatched by any other Rock guitarist imo. I've been a Pink Floyd fan since the release of their 'Dark Side of the Moon' album in 1973, I was 17 years old att.
Pink Floyd was/is a Rock band formed in London in 1965. They have sold more albums than any other band in history, (450 million!), except for The Beatles, who are #1 at over 600 million albums.
If you love guitar solos there's more from Gilmour, from this Pulse concert. like 'Sorrow', 'High Hopes', Learning to Fly', and many more just from that show.

Best guitar solo of all time. David Gilmour could make the strings cry. Shoots through the soul. I always need a music fix, which is why I'm here. Thanks. Good to see people get absorbed by this like I did almost fifty years ago. My Journey started with Dark Side of the Moon. A wild concert back in the day. Their music was burned into my soul. Never been the same, thank God. If I had a time machine, I would go to that Pulse concert, for sure!

Legend has it that Dave Guilmore (the lead guitarist AND singer) doesn’t plug his electric guitar into an Amplifier; he plugs it into his SOUL….
Btw, Dave Guilmore was born and grew up literally 5 minutes from where I live, here in the UK! Not that I ever knew him or anything, sadly…
Much respect and peace, from ‘Across the Pond’!! 👍🇬🇧🇺🇸🍻

Back then, Pink Floyd filled the Earls Court seven times within 14 days always with a day off to check the gigantic equipment and I saw this concert in 1994 in Cologne's soccer stadium, together with 75,000 fans.
With my 58 years now I have been to dozens of partly very big concert events but what I was able to experience in Cologne has beaten everything.
At that time a good friend of mine lived about 500m as the crow flies and could see the arena directly from his balcony. He told me later, when the block with the encores: Wish you where here, Comfortably Numb and especially Run like hell - czcams.com/video/G2n9_AmDTqY/video.html, was played, the whole stadium looked from the outside like the colorful glittering spaceship at the end of Spielberg's "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" after landing, because the light show could of course be seen from the outside through the distances between lower, middle and upper stand.
Until then, Genesis were the absolute specialists for composed light shows for me. After 2 hours of watching and hearing it was clear to me that there is probably no more or better.
And of course the overall experience of light and sound is inextricably linked.
When the sphere was still closed, it rotated and turned the stadium into a huge disco by the spotlights directed at it. When it opened, lasers were directed at it from various positions, reflected by the mirrors on it, which in turn were reflected back by mirrors fixed around the stadium roof and other mirrors distributed around the stadium near the ground, creating indescribable effects. You can't see this on the concert video because they made these setups only in stadiums and really must have been there because it's literally indescribable !
In the preannouncement of the concert it was promised that, regardless of where one´s position in the stadium is, listen to at least stereo if not even quatro. They implemented this advertising promise in such a comprehensive and impressive way that I will never forget this bombastic sound experience together with this indescribable light show.
And to this day, when I hear this piece, especially during the guitar solo i get goose bumps all over my body and it leads me to another dimension ! EVERYTIME ❗️❗️❗️👍
