- Many of Peter Berg's most famous projects, like "Lone Survivor" and "Deepwater Horizon," are based on real events, and his new limited series "Painkiller" is no different. The epic show chronicles the opioid epidemic in the United States. Jeff Glor has more on their conversation.

Peter Berg and Taylor Kitsch..a winning combination.
I loss my beloved dad, to an overdose. 💔😢💔It’s been over nineteen years since he has passed and I miss him terribly if not immensely as I’m growing into my thirties. The hole will never be filled…😔😢😔
I am sorry for your loss. Sending a virtual hug
Thanks for your great work but miss you Peter as the amazing actor you are!!!
As an opioid addict of over 20 yrs that still struggles everyday to remain clean my heart breaks for the damage this drug had done to the world.
Come see us in Bassett. Come see us in Collinsville. Come see us in Stanleytown. That miserable drug and those miserable Sacklers devastated us.
This series was well done
Great job
Brilliant 👏.
This betrayal of public trust is still happening all the time with other harmful products that don't have such an obvious effect as oxycontin. The issue of rich businessmen putting profit above the wellbeing of people is ubiquitous.
Dopesick?
As Eric Newman said, "Where was the doctors in all of this"? They perfectly knew well this drug was nothing but a one up from street heroin. The Sackler family still enjoys their wealth and privilege no matter no many movies are made. I'm Certain they will call and pay "friends" to influence SCTOUS to rule in their favor. After all we know Old Uncle Clarence sure does welcome the "hospitality" extended to him by his friends. Chief "Justice Roberts", just looks the other way too.
I questioned the use of opiods and my healthcare friends all defended it and actually accused me of not knowing anything and to shut up cause I’m not a doctor. Well guess who was right and who was wrong?!?
@@MB3448 - Wow. I'm glad to hear you did.
Why assume this only took/takes place with regards to OxyC.
I really enjoyed this series when it was called Dopesick.😅😂
I remember him from corky romano
Dr. Kronk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
❤
A great, informative show about white collar drug dealers and the fallout pain for families that lost people. Oh my goodness, let's get real. Medicine helps alleviate pain. but there is no one pill that automatically cures pain.
My son was in the army and the got him addicted to percocet. By age 25 he ended his life. Like the other 20 a day. #benjaminbutterfly #22toomany
God will catch them. There is no escape.
The self righteousness of these anchors is off the charts. If a pharma company came to them tomorrow with a big enough check they would say opioids were safe and non addictive. These people did not question opiods until now, long long after. Rrrrrg. Remember these were patients in pain and how dare you question easing their pain. You are the system that makes these things happen.
...TERRY CONKLIN!!!!
My doctor was my drug dealer.
This is the zanier version of dopesick. Like the wolf of Wall Street but with pharmaceutical business.
KARMA!!!
what goes around comes around.
So, ZERO accountability or responsibility from the people taking these drugs. Personal example- I had a wisdom tooth extracted- my dentist asked me if I wanted prescription for pain- I declined. It's always someone else's fault right. The doctor, the pharmacy, the manufacturer, the state health department, big pharma and on and on and on.
Studies have shown its specific type of person who is abuses the drug or gets addicted.
What’s more upsetting is the series didn’t show the MILLIONS of people who were helped by Oxy ( myself included) when I was dxed with a rare bladder disease) Was on it for years and never had a problem with it …I also don’t have an addictive personality, drink alcohol or like feeling out of it .
It’s not the drugs that are the problem….it’s the people
They knew it was far more addictive than they were saying so yes if they lied then 100% it is someone else’s fault!
@@christinaslate1865thank you. This nonstop attack on opioids needs to stop. There is no question opiates are drugs that cause dependency. In the wrong hands it leads to addiction.
But for people in chronic pain there are little options.
Great job
