Ahsoka is better than all those wack-ass characters and a far better constructed "strong female character" than Rey because she is not a forced feminist trope, the story builds her character. I think instead of getting sequels we should have gotten more spin-off shit, like how clone wars was a intermediate between episode 2 and 3

Some stuff I noticed about this battle.
    >Maul challenges Viszla in front of his men: clear audience and an insurance that Viszla will not refuse (it'd make him look like a coward). This is further emphasized with how Viszla exchanges glances with the rest of the Deathwatch: he must answer the challenge, and he knows it, but this cemented it.
    >Maul fights the whole battle without using Force, save for that single jump that he used to kick Viszla out of air. He's dueling Viszla not as a Dark Jedi, but as "one warrior to another": exactly how he said he would. A show of twisted sportsmanship, but in reality just an insurance that Deathwatch shall willingly acknowledge his claim if he wins. Not only is it a fair fight from his side, but if he's that tremendous without the Force, imagine him with it. Also, despite Viszla using most of his arsenal, Maul doesn't reciprocate, showing that he can beat Viszla while holding back.
    >During the swordfighting sequences, Maul never uses a standard two-handed grip unless Viszla is also using it. Again, a show of twisted sportsmanship from his side, since using a two-handed grip would make his swings significantly stronger and thus put Viszla, who is wielding a shorter sword and whose armour would impair him from fluid usage of two-handed grip, at a disadvantage. Only exceptions to this are when he's deflecting the blaster bolts that Viszla is firing at him, which kinda makes it a fair game.
    >Despite being shown to be largely ambidextrous, Maul is still primarily right-handed. During the one-handed sequences, he'll sometimes switch to holding his lightsabre with his left hand, which presents no apparent tactical advantage other than saying "hey look: I'm crippling myself and still kicking his ass" to the onlookers.
    >When Viszla disarms him, Maul doesn't take his lightsabre back, even without the use of Force, but instead reciprocates by disarming Viszla and injuring his primary hand (almost exactly what Visza did to him), proceeding to beat him into submission bare-handed.
    >When Maul knees Viszla in the face (second to last blow), he knocks out a molar, which can be seen flying.
    >Maul's only proper use of the Force is when he telekinetically calls the Darksabre to him. He already showcased his skill in combat and pretty much won, so now there's no need to stifle himself. Now's the time to show some dominance and look epic while doing it.
    >Because he was shot in his right hand, Maul uses the Darksabre with his left hand as a primary for the rest of the scene. He also doesn't use his right hand at all in the beatdown sequence.
    >A close look at Maul's lightsabre reveals that he trimmed the jagged edge that was left when Obi-Wan cut his sabrestaff in half back on Naboo.
    >Maul's Deathwatch are almost comically slow on the trigger.

My favorite thing about this fight is that its one of the very few fights we see in star wars where a sith is fighting fair. Maul uses nothing but his saber and melee combat, allowing visla to use whatever gadgets he had on him. He won this fight completely fairly and honorably. The death watch that dipped out on him after won essentially cheated him on the deal, yet he still goes on and further proves that he is more then strong enough to rule.

Maul isn’t really a sith, both in name or in his actions. He acts more reminiscent of a dark side oriented Qui Gon or a force guru who faces towards the dark side, especially in his later years; he focuses more on the force, acts with characteristics of both sith and jedi, and allows both sides to guide him, though he does lean significantly closer to the dark side than the light one.

Most Sith used it as an excuse to do anything they desired and to help themselves only. But technically the Code doesn't tell you to be treacherous, honorless and deceptive. If you want to, you can also search power for the good of a group or to help people. The vast majority of Sith are evil, but the Code is not. You can be Sith without being consumed by the Dark Side, all you have to do is to prove the strength of your way and if you win then no Sith has the right to question it.

I genuinely like the philosophy that Mandalorians apply when it comes to a duel.
You can use any methods at your disposal to try and win, the only stipulation is that it has to be one on one.
There’s no forced or fake “honor” system where they only fight with a single weapon, it’s a test of the full power of one opponent versus another.
That’s what makes Maul’s victory all the more impressive in the eyes of a Mandalorian because he had the power to just instantly snap Vizla’s neck but instead chose to limit himself mostly to just physical attacks yet still came out on top.

OBVIOUSLY Maul could have easily beaten out Vizsla easily with the force or even faster but his "facial expression" when he "holds Vizsla's arm" just looks like he's pissed off and enraged as he usually does. No idea on what you're saying here as it's just maul being himself as usually which we all love but what you're saying isn't prove of anything at all.

So Bo Katan had no problems taking orders from Pre-Vizla despite having royal blood herself. I think I’m understanding what the Nite Owls believed in. Traditionally anyone who won the darksaber through combat would be worthy to wield it but to the Nite Owls it goes further that they must also have Mandalorian blood. This was again brought up by Axe Woves when he made the comment about Din Jarin being a zealot who does not have a drop of Mandalorian blood in his veins due to the fact he was a foundling and not a descendant of any of the great houses of Mandalore. This could explain why they also supported Bo Katan in defeating Moff Gideon when he had the darksaber instead of following Moff Gideon who wielded it.

However this also shows her hypocrisy. She follows the Death Watch over her own sister who is the elected leader and claims it's because the Mandalorians have lost their old ways. With that the Death Watch and in extension Bo Katan mean the Warrior culture and the main ruling of the old Mandalorians was the Resol'nare six rules they had to follow in order to be a mandalorian, none of those stipulate you have to be born a Mandalorian quite the opposite, old Mandalorians used to be comprised of many different species and you could just adopt their warrior lifestyle and be considered just as much a Mandalorian as one who was born into the culture.
Bo Katan refusing to accept Mail as Manda'lore, their leader after he defeated the previous one in a fair fight shows she doesn't respect the old ways she is claiming to follow and all she ever wanted to do was to be in a position of power.
She betrayed her sister to become part of the new ruling elite of Manda'lore along with the Death Watch. And when her position was threatened by Maul taking over she rejected her "ideals" and rebelled while joining forces with the Mandalorians sworn enemy the Jedi to dispose of the rightful Manda'lore Maul.
And later she does it again with anyone who has the Dark saber who isn't her and is not opposed to getting the role of leader without following Mandalorian tradition, meaning by winning it in combat.

I just had this ridiculous argument with a guy who actually thought Mandalorians weren't humans but aliens that just happen to look human. All because someone was whining about how white people can no longer voice cartoon characters that are poc. When the guy mistakingly said the clones were white and voiced by poc, and I corrected him because the actor of Jango Fett was Maori. This other random person (I don't know what he was thinking), started going off about how 'only aliens should voice alien characters'. And I said 'as far as we know aliens don't exist so they are free game for anyone to voice'. And then he goes 'well since the Mandalorians and clones are aliens does that mean anyone can voice them'. I told him 'they are still humans; humans who became part of the Mandalore culture because of their history of conquests and taking children to raise as their own'.
This guy just absolutely loses it and starts saying made up excuses about how I'm being a hypocrite and I'm wrong about Mandalorians and that they aren't really human. Thankfully he eventually dipped out because I think he realized he was losing the argument. But it was bizarre; he said he didn't care about who voiced who then started off on weird tangents to try to make me slip up.

I am Cornholio This is why it's important to actually learn history, instead of have "professors" try to twist the lesson with something they got from an activist blogger.
Myth: Columbus did not actually discover anything.
FACT: Columbus discovered America. When he set sail in 1492, no one on either side of the Atlantic knew the other was there. His voyage initiated the first continuous engagement between the peoples of the European and American continents. He brought together diverse cultures previously unknown to each other and sparked a mutually beneficial exchange of goods and ideas. Viewed from either side, his was most certainly a voyage of discovery.
      Myth: Columbus committed genocide.
FACT: Columbus did not commit genocide. He sought to form good relationships with the native peoples of the New World and had no intention of doing them any harm. He had intended to sail to Asia, a land both populous and technologically advanced. His intent was trade and evangelization, not conquest. In exploring and settling the New World, Columbus frequently ordered his men to treat the natives well and not commit injustices or atrocities against them. Columbus punished and even executed some of the settlers who went against his orders and abused the natives. Scholars like Stanford professor emeritus Carol Delaney describe his interactions with the native peoples as generally benign and his motivations as religious; he was not violent, hostile, or cruel to those he encountered. Furthermore, the vast majority of the natives who died in the years after Columbus’ arrival succumbed to communicable diseases inadvertently transmitted by the Europeans rather than from any intentional act on the part of Columbus, his men or the settlers.
Myth: Columbus is to be blamed for bringing diseases to the New World that killed many natives.
FACT: Inadvertently, Europeans did bring communicable diseases to the New World for which the native peoples had little or no immunity, and great numbers died as a result. Some diseases may also have been spread to the Europeans by the natives. The vast majority of indigenous peoples who died in the years following the European settlement of the New World perished from disease rather than from conflict or abuse at the hands of European settlers. This is a tragic, unintended consequence of the encounter between two cultures, but certainly not something for which Columbus - or anyone else - can be held responsible or culpable.
Myth: Columbus introduced slavery to the New World.
FACT: “Slavery was common, even among [native] people in the Caribbean,” according to former Stanford anthropologist Carol Delaney. However, slavery was not Columbus’ goal; friendship with the native peoples was. Even today, enemy combatants are often captured and imprisoned, and criminals are often assigned to do manual labor.
Myth: Columbus sought to force the natives to work.
FACT: Columbus resisted efforts to force the natives to work. He expected his own men to build the settlements, search for natural resources, and perform their own labor. When he consented to using native laborers, he sought to compensate them properly as vassals of the Spanish crown. However, Columbus’ men violated these standards. Facing rebellion and under duress, Columbus allowed a system of labor already instituted by the rebels. Columbus himself is well-documented to have advocated for just treatment of the natives.
Myth: Columbus was a brutal man.
FACT: Columbus often sought to restrain his men from mistreating the native peoples. In a time when some would question whether the native peoples of America were truly human, Columbus immediately acknowledged their humanity and innate dignity. He recognized them as humans with immortal souls and was concerned for their salvation and their right to choose freely to embrace the Christian faith. He even adopted the son of a native chief as his own son.
Myth: Columbus forced his religion on the natives.
FACT: Columbus was a devout Christian who desired to introduce the native peoples to Christianity, but he did not force any to convert. He specifically saw the Indians as “a people who would be better freed [from error] and converted to our Holy Faith by love than by force,” as he wrote in his diary. He asked the monarchs and the Pope to send priests who would learn the native language and instruct the people in the Christian faith prior to baptism.
Myth: Columbus was arrested and returned to Spain in chains for his cruelty against the natives.
FACT: After his third voyage, while he was governor of Hispaniola, Columbus was indeed arrested and taken back to Spain in chains, but it was for actions taken against rebellious European settlers. He had punished and even executed some of the Europeans for abusing the natives. Bartolomé de las Casas, although sometimes critical of aspects of Columbus’ administration, wrote of the “sweetness and benignity” of the explorer and added: “Truly, I would not dare blame the admiral’s intentions, for I know him well and I know his intentions were good.”
Myth: Columbus was only after gold, glory and his own self-interest.
FACT: Columbus surely desired to be rewarded and recognized for his efforts, but these were not his primary driving motives for his voyages to the New World. His motivations, for the most part, were religious, including the desire to bring Christianity to foreign lands.
Myth: Columbus was a poor navigator.
FACT: Columbus was a skilled navigator who made an unprecedented voyage across the Atlantic and found the New World. Although Columbus did not reach Asia as he had hoped, his voyages revealed an entire continent previously unknown to the people of Europe. Because he kept journals of his voyages, he blazed a path for other explorers to follow. In addition, Columbus did something none of his contemporaries had done before him: He sailed west into the unknown, found land and returned safely.
Myth: Columbus is a symbol of white supremacy.
FACT: In fact, the Ku Klux Klan in particular has demonstrated enormous hostility to Columbus because he was Italian and Catholic, rather than Anglo-Saxon and Protestant, which aroused their anti-immigrant and anti-Catholic bigotry. Historically, the KKK actively protested Columbus celebrations and monuments to the explorer.

That should be obvious. There is no "doesn't have the energy to follow with a leading blow" AT ALL as he ONLY "backs off" to prolong the fight for showmanship. Maul is CONSTANTLY enraged and full of energy, we've never seen him "lack" ANY form of energy at all. Maul always has the upperhand for the most part throughout the whole fight but him getting slightly injured was real and the cost of prolonging the fight. OBVIOUSLY Maul could have easily beaten out Vizsla easily with the force or even faster beforehand but he had to prove himself to be leader than making a very fast anti-climatic kill for everyone which wouldn't work for his benefit to manipulate the Mandalorians' sense of honor.

    • @Gadget-Walkmen
      @Gadget-Walkmen Před rokem

@@Soup-man Can’t see how in ANY way how anyone can prefer this fight over the final fight over between Vader and Obi-wan as that fight was phenomenal from how fantastical well done it’s handled, especially in live action. You do you but I REALLY don’t see it as maul vs pre-viszla is amazing but nowhere near emotionally gripping and brutally intense as the final fight between them especially how well down the choreography all is! It’s WAY more than just “nEaT” as it’s WAY more than that.
I wouldn’t say it’s at all “PoiNtlEsS” in the slightest but yeah keeping him alive wasn’t the best choice especially since he just sees him as just another evil sith who needs to die.
Despite it all, that final fight was incredible throughout and how all lightsaber fights SHOULD strive to be.
The writing overall for kenobi wasn’t good at all as the show should have been a MOVIE and that movie should have had obiwan STABLED onto Tatoonie and never left there at all. I thought we were going to have a character study movie, like the movie Logan or even Joker, on Obiwan surviving and training in the desert, trying to communicate with Qui-gon through Yoda’s lessons and with some flashback scenes back to his old life as he tries to protect Luke (there was an obiwan comic about this already and the show REALLY should have used that as a template as the question “what was obiwan doing throughout his years in tatoonie?” was already answered beforehand) but that’s NOT what we got at all.
You knew things were sketchy the second when obiwan buried his lightsaber in the desert and talking down to himself, how he can protect Luke if he can’t even doesn’t have trust in himself to be a fully competent Jedi? It’s fine for Obiwan to have internal struggles and conflicts inside his head especially from all the things he’s been through and that’s expected for internal conflict but he shouldn’t let that define him during his mission there. Obiwan always prevailing and sticking towards the Jedi code, no matter HOW bad things got for him, is always what made him a true Jedi!
Unfortunately as a whole, yeah Kenobi was unfortunately terrible as it should have had Kenobi ONLY in the desert and SHOULD have had a movie with high budget look to the whole thing. The obi-wan show looked cheap and especially when you compare it to how PHENOMENAL Andor is visual wise as Andor looks GORGEOUS throughout!
But that final fight was pure gold and the standard on how ALL lightsaber fights should be. Having trained fighters who look like expertly trained swordsmen clashing but have weight to their strikes and movements do it can get off kinetic energy to their movement. AS WELL as using a vast array of force abilities as they’re not just swordsman at all!
That’s what ALL lightsaber fights should strive to be!
