There’s no way around it: it’s an incredibly bad look. The Lakers are one of the most storied teams not just in basketball, but in all of sports. It’s LA, it’s supposed to be the big time! In theory, it should be a coach’s dream to coach the Lakers. Instead, it’s a nightmare.

With all the internal drama they have in the organization - not keeping a coach for very long time, paying coaches who are not even there, two all star players (James and A. Davis) thinking they're the coach, a point guard who disappears faster than the X-Men's Nightcrawler on a consistent basis (D. Russell), and a star player who's trying to politic his son into the league when he's not even ready - who would want to coach there. Especially now with the state taking 50% of your salary and its already expensive to live over in California.

The Lakers have had more unsuccessful coaches than successful ones. That’s just the facts. People are glossing over the history. Coach consistency doesn’t automatically translate to success. Jerry Sloan coached Utah for 20 seasons and only had two finals appearances and no rings. Would you rather that or the Lakers who had 5 coaches in the same timeframe?

Lakers have had success with all the dysfunction that they've had. Back to back playoff appearances, a championship. What are we talking about here. I know people expect more from the Lakers, but the team just doesn't have enough. The Lakers are fine. We're over here acting like they have been horrific and have missed the playoffs the last few years. Lakers don't need Hurley, lol. Stephen A won't stop hating. He's forcing everyone on his show to hate on them as well.

Dear people that complain about ESPN talking about the Lakers. The fact you comment and interact on the videos comment section just fuels up ESPN since for them you're 'engaged' and is all a numbers game and an algorithm thing, so, despite your opinion being valuable (to you mostly cause no one really care, sad but true, same with mine), you're giving ESPN what they want. The 2 or 3 guys that back you up and agree with you in the comment section are not nearly enough to keep ESPN from talking about LAL. So instead, although it might sound disrespectful, keep your mouth shut, and keep moving along to another video so that way maybe, they will stop or, at the very least, you won't be seeing the videos and being annoyed by them. Enjoy fam!

Lakers acting like a prestige organization while being a dumpster fire with ownership and upper management is the main reason this team will never see the promised land until they are sold and/or hire an actual top notch upper management group that is assembled that knows what they're doing. Obviously, that is not what is currently there.

Nothing enticing about that job but the weather when leaving the office 😂 and if we talking about these clowns let’s talk about how Boston is about to pass them for most titles at least that’s a valid excuse to bring them up in fairness

With how Boston's roster is constructed, I can see them possibly 2peating, the minimum. That's assuming they keep that core together.

These comments are hilarious. The Lakers were smart not to pay an unproven college coach albeit from a reputable basketball family $100M. They need a coach with the combination of a sharp basketball mind and unshakeable confidence to lead a storied franchise. I would argue none of the previous coaches outside of Pat Riley and Phil Jackson met those requirements. So good luck to Hurley in the pursuit of a 3rd national championship.

I wouldn't want to go to the Lakers, Kings, Clippers, or Warriors just on the taxes alone in California
I didn't even know about the weather tax, if it's true. Lakers can get away with that stuff (luring top free agents or top head coaches consistently) back in the 1990s and early 21st century, but not anymore.

Lakers may as well take the Miami Heat route (hiring within via promotiong Erik Spoestra when he was a video coordinator) instead of taking the Brooklyn Nets route (when they hired Steve Nash as head coach under the encouragement of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving) if they hire J.J. Reddick. If anything, may as well do the New Orleans Pelicans route and get an assistant coach from an NBA Finals team to help the team grow up with an identity (getting Willie Green from Phoenix after having Alvin gentry as a coach)
