I've had the opportunity to sit on a rock in the middle of this field at night, and it is truly a peaceful place. Knowing what happened here, I had a very reverential feeling, almost like sitting in a church.
I got the strongest feeling of sadness when walking the fields. These field are very haunted soldiers have been caught and recorded. These poor souls don't know the war is over they still march..prayed for them .
Walking up path on Big Round Top. 3/4 way to top the trail takes a rather sharp bend to the right. As we approached the bend at about 25 foot distant we saw what we thought was a man straight ahead a few feet past where the bend was.The form was standing in profile in an opening in the brush and under a tree in very dappled sunlight ,0830 hrs. It was facing toward the crest of Big Round Top at the edge of the small escarpment that parallels the trail to the top. We both sighted it in the same instant. We both said "look there's a man". As we were almost to the bend the figure took one step and dropped down out of sight. Within a few seconds we were standing where we saw the figure. The drop to the glade floor was about 5 ft. There was no one in sight, as we stood there and looked in all directions. The figure was gone. It was open in the glade with only ferns and a few saplings. No place to conceal ones self. As we discussed the sighting. we both agreed on the description. The figure was dressed in a long sleeve coat, long pants and a hat all green in color. I first thought it was a park ranger, they wear green. But it was in August and almost 90degrees. They would have the green pants but would have a tan short sleeve shirt. The more we talked we were not sure if the hat was a baseball hat or something else., a Kepi or something like that. Then I remembered that Berdans Sharpshooters were in the area as scouts probing for Confederate soldiers. They would have been facing East as the figure was. Their uniforms were dark green instead of Union blue. And after running into the enemy they fell back into Union positions on the union extreme left flank held by, among others, Joshua Chambers 20th Maine and fought till Confederate forces were driven away by the now famous charge into the enemy supposedly led by Chambers. We are very skeptic about spooky things and in all honesty we will never be sure of exactly what we saw.
It's not a feeling of evil or something like that. It's heaviness, a knot in your gut. I've sat at Devils Den and Little Round Top. You can feel it, but can't explain it. Wish these men could speak to us...as I got the knot in my gut for future conflict. To let this Nation fall is to have every man that died here, have died in vein.
I was a 125th anniversary reenactor with the 2nd RIV and participated in the film “Gettysburg” as one of the reenactors used in the making. My RI unit was there, but in this battle, was in reserve. My friend, also 2nd RIV and I participated as a member of the 124th NY ‘orange blossom’ regiment which played a large part in the action of the ‘triangular field’. It was actually filmed on site in the park. I’ll never forget because it was a great honor because NPS doesn’t allow on site re-enactments or filming hostilities. To my understanding this was the first time. I didn’t know the triangular field before this and it’s not obvious to the average visitor at Gettysburg. They filmed confederate and union scenes separately on the field not allowing combat interaction depictions at the park. There were NPS rangers present and the director, Ron Maxwell (the assistant director, a women, did the vast majority of the work) had constant contact with them to abide by very strict rules. Editing later the viewer wouldn’t know it. Some funny things happened while filming, there were many takes and a lot of standing around. There were hundreds of us there, but only one in ten were given powder for their muskets. The battle smoke was one poor fellow running around with a hand held smoke machine and laying the smoke was arduous and when done there’s a delay and retake and more smoke needed. Eventually the device caught fire. The guys ragged on him good naturedly of course. BTW we had a chance to speak to a nearby professional stunt man on horseback that depicts falling off in battle (maybe Major Cromwell) said he got paid $3000 for that stunt. We also filmed in devils den that day, the actual site. Reenactors didn’t get paid. We went on our own expense. It was our honor to do so and an experience I’ll never forget.
My wife and I were there yesterday (4/5/21) and believe me I was right there. All those weeds, all that tall grass, all the bushes - completely gone! Mowed down. They cleared Little Round Top of all the trees and stuff but the Triangular Field really looks different now. I've been there several times and I have taken many photos all over that field. Never noticed that little piece of stone wall at the bottom of the field that you pointed out. That's really cool. I couldn't believe they cleared it out so thoroughly though, even around the rocks and the stone walls they trimmed it right down to the ground.
Your Gettysburg videos are exceptional. You have a rare ability to connect the present with the past. You can take yourself back to those 3 hot days so long ago, and in the process you share that moment with anyone else who understands. I myself do not like the commercialism that was done to the area, but in the end the ground was saved and will continue to be cared for, unlike the sad fate of many southern battlefields. All that carnage is hard to imagine sometimes on that beautiful ground. The modern weapons with old tactics wasn't a good combination. But then war anywhere or anytime isn't as well. Thanks again WW! Your videos are so interesting! One of my ancestors fought for the Confederacy and was wounded at Gettysburg. He survived and lived well into his eighties. Thank you for sharing. I hope to visit some day.
May I also add, spent time in the South, in my 50 yrs of life. The Civil war is not forgotten. I was called a Yankee. Those scars run very deep, on both sides. Heartbreaking
I can remember as a scholarship student at the Civil war Institute, going through the battlefield one night. There were three areas that well freaked me out. Out by the soccer field, the rail cut and the field. Even the library on campus bothered me. Then talking with one of the major civil war authors I learned what happened in those areas. In Bosnia I had a knack for finding remains on the side of the road and even found a huge mass grave of just men and boys. As they new I would be able to find it. Little to say a year later when we were on a trip to see Omaha and the Somme, a few people were asking how i was doing. Little to say at the Somme I ended up staying in the bus at the last few stops. There is Teutoburg Forest in Germany where I never want to go to again.

One year, I was with my parents & my mother's sister, when it was still open 6 AM - 10 PM, we were walking back to the car, from the path we found, we smelled cigar smoke in our face, but nobody else was around.
Triangular Field is my favorite ghost spot in the World. I've spent months of time down by the flat rock running random experients. Rarely disappoints. I go there enough that I feel those spirits know me. I have a few on film, but my best experience was needing to step into the woods to go to the bathroom... looked down to unzip...looked up Three Rebel soldiers sitting on the ground , exhausted looking at me, I excused myself embarrassed as I kept peeing in amazement. All on color...very detailed, and easy to read the emotions of sadness and exhaustion on their faces. Lasted about 20 seconds. They were all in spetia color or a Tan.. very detailed 3/4 solid. Texans most likely,, further up to the top the NY'ers hang. You have to offer them tobacco or whiskey and talk to them to get any reaction and it takes a while. The field often has swirling chill airspots that will surround you even on hot days. It's most active 6:30pm to 10:30pm.

I got to visit the Military Park for my birthday last week (went during the weekend Saturday and Sunday) and saw a lot of the places you visited. Love to learn some of the history of your videos so I can have a better idea of what the experience is like when you actually visit--Devil's Den was astounding, and the view from Little Round Top is incredible. When I finally got to visit Triangular Field it was pretty sobering in a way. There was no one that ventured into it and I made it maybe 1/3 of the way through since it's so tough to navigate. I just stood and listened--sun shining, birds and insects...the quiet and the stillness is really something, especially when you try to imagine what happened there 150 years ago. I could go back to Gettysburg multiple times and learn something new.
That road at the bottom of the field was a trolley path at the turn of the century. The area of Devil's Den held a restaurant and photography studio at that time as well .
I was there in July 2023, peaceful place considering what took place in that field. I kept smelling hints of vanilla in the air there walking thru that field.
Wish I could move to Gettysburg but will settle for my 1 year visits, luckily I’m only a few hrs away in Pittsburgh but I love Gettysburg. At night it is very creepy but in the day, it’s very peaceful. I love the historical and paranormal aspects of it.
Great video, I know Gettysburg pretty well. It's my understanding that most of the stone walls you see now were rebuilt by the CCC during the 30s. Also, those black boulders are pretty unusual. Are they basalt or what?
Have an open mind about this but wonder if we, knowing the history, the horror of this terrible war, carry that with us, projecting it onto the location. Does that make sense? I've been to Ford's Theater and felt the terrible weight of the assassination, also Dallas.
The brave men that fought and died in the great civil war to end slavery in the south where not actually grown men they were teens not really knowing what life was about. Being that young and scared I'm not surprised at all that there poor soul are not at rest they went through hell for a reason not all for the same reasons but all had something to fight for in that time period.
In August of 2006 my wife and I had a very strangeBaffles me to this day. experience/sighting on our hike up Big Round Top. Strangest event I every witnessed. Baffles me to this day.
They did a control burn in the field in 2016 which cleared it out for the fall and winter months. That allowed me to go dow into the field to setup my tripod and make some large format film photos of the witness tree above on the hill from the perspective of the triangle. There used to be a really cool wooden gate at the top that has since been taken away but never brought back after repairs. This year the field has been super overgrown and even the narrow trail from the road down to the opening in the wall is very difficult to get to because of the overgrowth. It's a very contemplate place.
Our digital camera quit working, flash started going crazy a few times then battery pack died. SLR Camera was fine no problems. Odd redness on the rock wall along the right side. Very creepy experience overall.
listen carefully at 5.22 and you got a EVP and some whispering just prior its good that your alone because thats when they come toward you also try leaving a voice recorder overnight and you will hear them.
the trail you were standing on was the Gettysburg Electric Railway than ran through the peach orchard and through rose woods to devils den and part of little round top in the 1890's
theree is some low spots in the ground there all through the field its possible that some of it could be impact craters from artillery that was fied down at them
Those trees don’t look that old. I wonder if those woods were there at the time of the battle. Could be the Triangular Field was outlined by the three walls?
You dont need a spirit box to pick up evps , if they want to talk to you they will into your camera or your ear , you will here it anyways , spirit bix does pickup more most times but not essential and yes i do believe , but i also love your videos thankyou😊
it is peaceful. yet it does have alot of familiar noise you can hear!! i visisted alot of it there when my father was camcordering when i was 12!.. its far from peace.
no they send them back home if its a full body they identify, many of the guys were considered missing which means they were blown to pieces and scattered all over the fields and woods
Most were buried were they were killed. Later the union soldiers were reinterred in the gettysburg national cemetery which was opened & dedicated in November 1864. After the war was over the confederate soldiers were removed & most were reinterred in Hollywood cemetery in Richmond VA
@INSERT COIN TO CONTINUE GAME OVER you are correct. At Gettysburg most were buried in long trench mass graves. There were so many that it was the quickest way. Also made it easier to find when they needed to be reinterred

Yes but we are all made of energy? Where does that energy go? Just because we can't see sound (which is energy) doesn't mean it's not there and when electricity manifests it takes a lot of energy for it to do so. Some of that energy when people die tragically gets embedded in the earth. There's just things we don't know.

Back in 1991 when I went to Gettysburg to be in the movie, I remember arriving at night and having an overwhelming peaceful feeling. Hard to explain.

They do it for upkeep but also ticks maybe? Things are prolific in the meadow grasses/ brush.

I traveled with my black friend along the deep south route. We were met with nothing but hostility from cops claiming "Anglo Saxon Territory".

I've had 7 incidents of paranormal occurrences at Gettysburg after only 5 short, 2 day, trips there in the 2000's. The places is "crawling".

It was grazing land all through there. The long grass would have been grazed down to dirt and the woods did not have the thick under brush

This year the field has been super overgrown and even the narrow trail from the road down to the opening in the wall is very difficult to get to because of the overgrowth. It's a very contemplate place.
You mentioned ( and we see) the field is overgrown: does the park service maintain it at all ? Is that a public, marked trail ?
Our digital camera quit working, flash started going crazy a few times then battery pack died. SLR Camera was fine no problems. Odd redness on the rock wall along the right side. Very creepy experience overall.

listen carefully at 5.22 and you got a EVP and some whispering just prior its good that your alone because thats when they come toward you also try leaving a voice recorder overnight and you will hear them.

I was there several years ago. I heard 3 gun shots and after the third shot fog came rushing up the field.
I'd give anything to see and talk to some type of ghost at Gettysburg

the trail you were standing on was the Gettysburg Electric Railway than ran through the peach orchard and through rose woods to devils den and part of little round top in the 1890's

I felt great horror at Yorktown in a redoubt and heard in my spirit screams of fear and fight. I have never experienced that before.

theree is some low spots in the ground there all through the field its possible that some of it could be impact craters from artillery that was fied down at them

You dont need a spirit box to pick up evps , if they want to talk to you they will into your camera or your ear , you will here it anyways , spirit bix does pickup more most times but not essential and yes i do believe , but i also love your videos thankyou😊
it is peaceful. yet it does have alot of familiar noise you can hear!! i visisted alot of it there when my father was camcordering when i was 12!.. its far from peace.

What did they do with the body's are they buried there
no they send them back home if its a full body they identify, many of the guys were considered missing which means they were blown to pieces and scattered all over the fields and woods
Most were buried were they were killed. Later the union soldiers were reinterred in the gettysburg national cemetery which was opened & dedicated in November 1864. After the war was over the confederate soldiers were removed & most were reinterred in Hollywood cemetery in Richmond VA

@INSERT COIN TO CONTINUE GAME OVER you are correct. At Gettysburg most were buried in long trench mass graves. There were so many that it was the quickest way. Also made it easier to find when they needed to be reinterred
@@kimberleyannedemong5621 every vulture from three states converged on Gettysburg days after the battle, people were caught and were drove away for stripping the bodies of any cloth shirts pants jackets etc by the wagon load,there was a paper making business not far from there and cloth was used in the making of paper back then

Yes but we are all made of energy? Where does that energy go? Just because we can't see sound (which is energy) doesn't mean it's not there and when electricity manifests it takes a lot of energy for it to do so. Some of that energy when people die tragically gets embedded in the earth. There's just things we don't know.
