If you found lots of oil in your car or truck's engine compartment, or a large oil leak underneath, you might expect it to be a result of a rear main seal, or valve covers! In this video, Sue shows you one other likely source of oil leaks for many vehicles. For many cars and trucks, like the Jeep in this video, the oil filter housing is the culprit! For any vehicles that use a cartridge style oil filter, gaskets and seals between the oil filter housing and engine block can flatten out and leak as the vehicle ages; especially 3.6L Chrysler engines!

I just did this job on Saturday. I also ordered the part from you guys! I already replaced the oil cooler on my 2013 JK in Feb 2022 with a part from CarParts, let's hope your part lasts me longer than 11 months! Took me 7 hours the first time around having never done it before. Took me 5 hours this time. Use a pick to unlock the red tab on the fuel injector plugs, I didn't do that the first time around and probably spent a whole hour trying to squeeze my hand in there to unlock them. The first time you do this job there will be a ton of plastic Christmas tree clips, it was nice not having that this time since I removed those last year.
I hate those filter designs, always prone to leaks. Great video.

Another case of Chrysler knowingly making a part that will only last”x” years before failure, anticipating the customer coming in to get it fixed or traded in. Either way, they make money. Thankfully, you allow us to avoid that. Always the plastic taking on the heat…

I’m dealing with this right now on a 15’ Grand Cherokee. Most ppl think that P066DD code is the oil pump solenoid. So they replace the oil pump. Not going after the source of the oil leak
I ordered the all aluminum one with felpro gaskets. Took me about 3 hours. $130.
Who makes that aluminum one? Dorman?
Ive always wanted to go to a cow wash.
Is that part from 1a better then the oem? Or will this be happening later down the line again?

I find that I can use baby powder on my car after I clean the engine and transmission lines! Or I can use spray powder or even flour!
I have the same problem but my vehicle empties all oil in minutes it’s a 2002 ram 4.7 could it be the same issue as this?

I have a 2013 dodge dart rallye with the 1.4 turbo. So i have a major leak, wouldn't even call it a leak, it's gushes. I put in 4 quarts and it all gushed out of the right side of the engine within seconds. Any idea other things it could be?

Like this video. I do have a oil leak. I had the valve cover gasket replaced and the two half moon seals replaced. But the half moon seals are metal not the rubber ones that came with the 2000 Toyota Camry LE 4 cylinder. The drivers side half moon seal is leaking oil bad. It has coated my transmission with oil causing my speed sensor to go out from time to time when driving. Plus the oil pan gasket is leaking bad too. Dirty oil is everywhere on the passenger side bottom. I took it to a mechanic shop the guy that work on my Camry broke somethings. I'm not taking it back to them. I have a oil pan gasket and the gasket seal to put on the oil pan and gasket. I check the oil every few miles. I need to get both repaired but who do I take it to that I can trust. Plus I need to ask you a question. How many grounds does the 2000 Camry LE 4 cylinder have. I'm having ground issues with the Camry. Please reply thanks much.
You could always just add more grounds. Just trace some of the ground wires running to the body/frame. You should easily be able to find one from the negative terminal of your battery. One from the engine block to the frame should be another one not too hard to find. Loosen the nut and sand till you get shiny metal where the wire terminal will be contacting. Recommend using oxygen free copper at least the same gauge as the factory wires. You could get some metal grounding straps if you don't like the idea of wires. Use a lock washer to ensure whatever you use stays put. Then you could spray something to keep the contact ends from oxidizing. Some people use clear coat. I have used liquid electrical tape. Just my preference. Also if you know how yo use a multimeter you could test if there is any resistance where your trying to ground pretty easily. Just some thoughts lol.
What could it be if u get this replaced and it’s still leaks just oil all over transmission?

Sooo… if the crushed O-rings were the only thing wrong with it, why did it need a new housing? You can’t just replace the O-rings?
I took my car to a check up for driving Uber, Midas said I have a oil leak and they will have to degreaser the car I’m order to find the leak, I never saw any leaks before that, I got the car home and now is leaking like crazy! I took it back and they said is oil filter housing!
Can this be something they did to my car?
? I recently bought a salvage dodge charger Sxt that has ran for likely a week. Crank no start. " I replaced alternator ,starter, coilovers all six spark plugs. Changed oil,oil filter. Installed both fuel pumps. Installed brand new battery. Oh yes' even installed control throttle and EGR. Still no start. Says TCM no connection.? So I checked all fuse's 5/ 15 /20 /25. Than for the tall red, blue, pink and red I don't know how to check them or the blk boxes? How may I do this?
Ask a local mechanic, pay them for their time

Because that whole housing is plastic and they will eventually brake when you put the filter cap on trust me i been there done that
This is why i stay away from Chrysler products .
Of course it leaks oil, it's a Chrysler...lol
Just a bad design and eventually it is going to leak again.
