    Hi, I just came across your video. Thanks! There's been long and many discussions re using LED bulb for reflective housing. What's your thoughts? As far as I know only Xenon comes with projector housing so I struggle with replacing halogen bulb to LED while keeping the reflective housing. Thanks in advance!

    • @FixedVaneDuramax
      @FixedVaneDuramax  Před 2 lety +1

      Yeah that's a total toss up right, technically you are not supposed to put LEDs into reflective housings due to the light pattern. I don't see an issue with it as long as you adjust the housings to make sure you aren't blinding anyone coming at you. I had to adjust these down quite a bit after install myself, but the light output on this car with these bulbs is incredible.

  • @Diesel27px
    @Diesel27px Před 3 lety

    What kind of special retainer clips did you need for e90? BH7_3 , BH7_4 , BH7_5 etc. Next question I have: do I still need the can bus adapter if I have a pre lci e90 - 2008 model year?

    • @FixedVaneDuramax
      @FixedVaneDuramax  Před 3 lety +1

      I don't believe I ended up needing any special retainer clips, I was able to just use the metal retainer on the light that comes standard. As far as the can bus adapter I would assume you need it, unless you want to change the code in the car yourself. I still get a quick warning right when the car starts for a couple seconds, then it goes away even with the adapters.

  • @carmaster366
    @carmaster366 Před 4 lety

    If you have your headlight set for auto does it change the color every time the headlights turns on? if so i assume you would just have to turn on your lights manually ?

    • @FixedVaneDuramax
      @FixedVaneDuramax  Před 4 lety +1

      If I remember right, if there is more than a 5 sec delay between when the light is turned off and when the light is turned back on, it will default back to 6000k white. I generally always keep mine on that setting anyways, so I havent tested it much but I would imagine if you went from inside a building at the 3000k setting , to outside, then back inside a building, they would default back to 6000k upon re-entry. May be a question for Boslla though.

    You posted this video nearly a year ago. How did they work out long term? Was it an issue having the cooling fans covered through the summer?

    • @FixedVaneDuramax
      @FixedVaneDuramax  Před 3 lety +2

      Yeah good question. Almost 1 year in, not one single issue with these bulbs has occurred. I checked the housings for heat and damage after several 3-4 hour long trips, no problem. Functionality wise no issue there either. I just switched through the colors last weekend just to play with them again, everything works great. From my end, this is a great product.

    Diode dynamics sells just the H7 LED bulb. Why you need the fan and can bus?

    • @DaSurfr
      @DaSurfr Před 3 lety

      Not all cars' electric system are adapted for LED bulbs. Some LEDs will flicker in those cars that can't handle LEDs, or they won't work at all. CANBUS is some sort of "adapter" that prevents flickering and malfunctions when the vehicle is not adapted.

    • @FixedVaneDuramax
      @FixedVaneDuramax  Před 3 lety +1

      I had no issue with these in my e90 lci. The body of the bulb/heat sync is short enough to fit into the housing with clearance for the cap to close. I had to bend out the wire clip a little to get it to slip around the bulb body but it worked well.

    • @Axu_02
      @Axu_02 Před 3 lety

      @@FixedVaneDuramax Okay so you did not get any problems with bending? I haven't yet bended the clip, it would solve my problem but I'm worried if it would ruin my whole clip and it is not easy to get new ones because they are not sold separately.

    • @FixedVaneDuramax
      @FixedVaneDuramax  Před 3 lety +1

      I did not have any issue with mine no, they are a decently strong wire so they won't break when you bend them gently. Just go a little at a time and test fit until it works.
