Who the hell suggests this song for a guy that has never heard of Deep Purple? Literally any song off of their album "Machine Head" would give him a great idea of who he is listening to.
Deep Purple are Rock royalty. This video documents the first time these 5 guys reunited to record an album after 11 years. They are hanging out and getting reacquainted. Has nothing to do with Women. The guitarist (Ritchie Blackmore) and bassist (Roger Glover) were in a band called Rainbow with Dio on vocals.
"Space Truckin'", "My Woman From Tokyo", "Smoke on the Water", "Highway Star" are just a drop in the bucket of Deep Purple's song list. One of my favorite bands!
Deep Purple -most iconic group ever! Don't miss the chance to listen really great music - Child in time, Highway star, strange kind of woman, smoke on the water, lazy, when the blind man cries - just few of songs you must know. The live versions always better then studio :)
SMOKE ON THE WATER is their most iconic song. The riff is probably the most recognizable riff in music. The song was created as the band was on the balcony of their hotel in Montreux, Switzerland. They were to play the Montreux Casino the following night. Frank Zappa was playing that night and someone with a flare gun set the place on fire. So they were watching it burn as the SMOKE CAME ACROSS THE WATER, hence the song.
They have been around since late 60's. They just released a new single from an upcoming new CD. By the way the singer is 78 and still sounds great. "Portable door" is the name of the new song.
Deep Purple is from 70s Europe and is the Rock Band that really started modern rock and heavy rock music. These music members of Deep Purple and the singer are some of the biggest talents that existed in the 70's and 80's. Almost all rock bands in the 80s and since the 80s had Deep Purple as idols and inspiration when making their own music. So yes, Deep Purple are world-renowned Rock legends.
One of the greatest vocalists in rock & roll. Ian Gillan has long been one of my favorites. You should check him out singing the lead in “Jesus Christ Superstar”. Gethsemane in particular. ✌🏼😎🇺🇸
Dio was in a band called Elf. Deep Purple discovered them and signed them to Purple records. They toured with Deep Purple. When Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore left the band he essentially joined Elf, fired the existing guitar player and renamed the band Ritchie Blackmores Rainbow, later shortened to Rainbow. Dio left Rainbow to join Black Sabbath but remained friends with Purple right up to his early demise. Btw, Deep Purple, the greatest of all time, just released a new song, same singer aged 78. Check that out!
The guitarist in this band is Ritchie Blackmore when Deep Purple broke up he formed the band rainbow with Ronnie James Dio as its lead singer then Deep Purple reformed Ronnie James Dio went to Black Sabbath
Deep Purple. Only one of the biggest concert bands of the 70s, regularly outselling bands like Zeppelin & the Stones. Legendary. Every track on their album Machine Head is a must hear.
Wasn't into heavy metal when I was young, but I loved Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water"(1972) and hearing the first few seconds of the song it's instantly recognizable to anyone who grew up in the 60's and 70's. 💜
Hey BP! Smoke on the Water!!! React to it, you think these riffs were hard, wait until you hear Smoke on the Water Riffs!!! Thanks for the great reaction.
Saw this tour live, right up front. AMAZING. Deep Purple is one of the most skilled bands ever. Started in the 60s. Ritchie Blackmore is a guitar LEGEND. 🎸
Saw the same tour in Tacoma Wa. it's still regarded as the loudest concert ever at the Tacoma Dome, people across I-5 about an 1/8 mile away could not only hear the concert but could tell what song they were playing lol.
Saw this tour live in 1984. 2 minutes into the first song the power went out at the Pittsburgh Civic Arena, and the band couldn't continue for over 1/2 hour. They were ALL pissed off, but still put on a hell of a great show!
These five musicians are absolute royalty in Rock history. This constellation started recording albums together in 1970! They got equually as famous as Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin, went on world tours, made some of the most renowned records of all time ( Deep Purple: In Rock, Machine Head, Live In Japan) before they broke up due to tensions and being overworked by their management having been on the road for two years straight. When they broke up they went each their separate ways,- the keybord player and drummer formed Whitesnake with David Coverdale - the replacement singer for Ian Gillan in Deep Purple ( their second singer and one of the all time greatest voices in the history of rock),- Ian Gillan himself founded Ian Gillan band and recorded some HEAVY blues based Heavy Rock albums ( give Bluesy Blue Sea - studio album a listen,- you´ll understand), the keyboard player, the late great Jon Lord more or less invented the growly Hammond organ going through a 100W Marshall stack creating one of the most iconic keybord styles of all time,- heavily influenced by classical music - in particular Johann Sebastian Bach - and then , of course, there is the guitar player Ritchie Blackmore. Leaving Deep Purple he formed Rainbow with Ronnie James Dio,- recorded yet another of the best live albums ever,- Rainbow On Stage ( you like blues based rock, yes?,- give Mistreated from Rainbow-Live In Munich 1977( easily found on YT) a watch and a listen- with Ronnie James Dio delivering some of the most epic vocals you´ll ever hear). Ritchie Blackmore as a guitarist is one of the most influential players ever - inspired two if not three generations of players showing them how to actually play hard rock guitar - and to this day people are still posting covers of his songs on YT to show off their chops. He´s also very famous for being very moody, playing some of the loudest Marshall stacks ever manufactured and generally sporting a bad attitude whenever possible. As Lars Ulrich from Metallica ( who is a huge Deep Purple fan) once put it: "Ritchie Blackmore is the kind of guy who´ll tell you he doesn´t give a flying f###k. Why? Because he doesn´t give a flying f###k!" All of them absolute Rock ´n´ Roll legends.
This is a reunion of the Deep Purple Mk II line-up. The song Hush that came out in the late 60s had a different singer. Most of their biggest hits are from this line-up that went separate ways in like 74. Then the Mk III line-up had David Coverdale (later founder of Whitesnake) on vocals w/Glenn Hughes (song Burn). Waaay to long a post to talk about Ronnie James Dio in Ranbow w/Richie Blackmore & Roger Glover of the MK II line-up in that band. This whole reunionn project was on pins & needles thus the disjointed video. Still a great album in 84. Bought it & loved it. Deep Purple & Rainbow...there's a rabbit hole to go down
Deep Purple is one of the founding groups of metal and hard rock. This was from the eighties so they were already established at this point so this how they are and usually record music. This is probably at one of the members estates or somewhere where they had a private studio that might have belong to a producer. Their usual known for their unusual recording locations. Their song Smoke on the Water is such a case where they were supposed to record in a hotel but before they could it caught fire and burned down.
This band is part of the British invasion, they are also considered one of the bands that founded hard rock, like led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath. They got a LOT of big hits too. That's a forgettable song, you want to be blown away: Smoke on the water. Space trucking. Child in time. Stormbringer. Highway star. Woman from Tokyo. All those will blow you out.
This is Deep Purple Mk2 line up reunited after 10 later, so these guys are definitely more mature. Perfect Strangers reflect the band coming back together after all these years. You mentioned Dio which is tied to Deep Purple. Dio was in a band called Elf that opened for Deep Purple back in the early 1970's. Ritchie Blackmore (guitarist for Deep Purple) left his band and started a new band called Rainbow that featured Ronnie James Dio. Another fantastic band that catapulted Dio's career. Rainbow songs like "Stargazer", "Man on the Silver Mountain", and "Gates of Babylon" are great songs to check out.
The album was released in 1984, and was their 11th album. But its was also their first studio album in 9 years, and this line-up in the band hadn't played together in 11 years. It sounds quite different from their earlier stuff. I Highly recommend checking out "Highway star" and "Child in Time" LIVE. both live. live if you can with deep purple. They would sometimes just jam on stage for long stretches of time in their concerts, just making stuff up as they were playing. They were (and are, saw them 2 years ago:P) insanely talented.
The group broke up some time before this was recorded. They went different directions for a while. Then got back together and made this video. There was still some tension between them at the time and it can be seen at times here.
There you go Black Pegasus ... age 61 .. me & my friends waited 10 long years for them to get back together. .. EPIC! ... DEEP PURPLE are Legends of Rock n Roll. ... You're watching 5 Great that broke up and got back together. .. LEGENDS! ... That's right .. that's the best Keyboard player ever .. great drummer, GREAT Guitar player .. they all were great
Deep Purple was a British Hard Rock/Heavy Metal band that had their greatest success from the late-1960s to the mid-1970s. The band reunited in 1984 to record their album, “Perfect Strangers”. What you saw and heard was the music video for the title track to that album.
These boys were on top of the world in 72. Put out some of the biggest records and then fell apart went their separate ways. After a decade apart they reunited for this. Hence, perfect strangers. They knew each other so well yet had to get reaquainted. The video is just that. Them hanging out. Making a new album.
Just listen to Highway Star, Space Truckin’ and Smoke on the Water. If one of those don’t make your playlist then you can walk away from band. Perfect Strangers is a solid track but nothing to compare to their heyday.
Longtime 70’s British band. They were broken up and got back together for this album around ‘84 and toured. I saw them on this tour and it’s still in my top 10 of shows ever.
You definitely need to do Child in Time, Lazy, highway star. These dudes are from London formed in 1967. They are excellent musicians. You need to do more of Deep Purple
This band is legendary in the world of Rock and has been known as one of the founders of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. In the mid-1970s there were 3 British bands accredited for the begining of the Hard Rock / Heavy Metal creation and movement. These bands were Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, and Black Sabbath otherwise known as "The Unholy Trinity". Deep Purple has a whole catalog of fantastic music. Check out "Child in Time" and "Highway Star". Thanks for another awesome reaction. I've listened to this music my whole life and I still learn things from your reactions. Keep up the good work brutha 😊👍
When guitarist Ritchie Blackmore left Deep Purple after the 1974 LP Stormbringer he formed the band Rainbow with --- Ronnie James Dio on lead vocals. Purple would make one more LP without Blackmore before dissolving. Drummer Ian Paice, bassist Roger Glover,, and keyboardist Jon Lord then would all cycle thru the band Whitesnake over the years while former Purple vocalist Ian Gillan launched a band under his name for several LPs before making an album with and touring with Black Sabbath in 1983 after Dio had cut two LPs with THAT band. In fact that Gillan tour with Sabbath was immediately before the recording sessions you see in the video. It was very much a surprise reunion for fans as Blackmore had recorded a Rainbow LP (with Glover producing) the previous year, 1983. A simplified timeline would be Deep Purple > Rainbow > Whitesnake > Dio > Deep Purple reforms.
Deep Purple, Black Sabbath & Led Zeppelin are the original 3 HEAVY METAL bands. DP was formed in 1968. One of the most influential bands in rock history. Guitarist Ritchie Blackmore quit to form Rainbow, & hired Dio as his singer.
Well, „Perfect Strangers“ was the reunion song of a very successful line-up of Deep Purple, who were absolute legends of the early 1970s. In the video clip of „Perfect Strangers“ they somehow express, that they already reached everything, that they are one family and that making music and working together means also lots of fun, while they obviously did not need to proof anything anymore. They already had it all. The song has some signature riffs, but of course it lacks much of the power these musicians had, when they were some 10+ years younger. I recommend reacting to some of their classic early songs in live videos, like „Highway Star“ live in Japan 1972, „Child in Time“ live 1970 or „Space Truckin“ live in New York 1973. Watching these guys perform in their early years is a mind blowing experience, that many youtubers have already reacted to, and most of them were deeply impressed. Go for the early Deep Purple live stuff and forget about „Perfect Strangers“.
Lazy, Hush, Highway Star, Spac Truckin, Child in Time and Smoke on the Water are just a few of their Mega Hits. Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin ARE the Roots of Modern Heavy Metal and are known as the Unholy Trinity! Judas Priest was right behind them in the Time Frame when the Heavy Metal Explosion all began.
Deep Purple are one of the best rock bands of their generation. Vocals Ian Gillian,Ian Paice Drums, Ritchie Blackmore,Lead Guitar,John Lord Keyboards and Glen Glover Bass. Listen to Child in Time from Made in Japan and Highway Star from the same album. Child in Time will blow your mind.
Deep Purple through out the years, they were a bit older here, there are videos where they are younger...... Check out Deep Purple - Smoke on the Water - Child in Time
Ian Gillian the singer in this group went on to be in the group Black Sabbath he did one album with them & one video call (Zero the Hero) check it out you should love it
Wikipedia-During a brief tour of Denmark and Sweden in April, in which they were still billed as Roundabout, Blackmore suggested a new name: Deep Purple, after his grandmother's favourite song, "Deep Purple" by Peter DeRose. The group had resolved to choose a name after everyone had posted one on a board in rehearsal. Second to Deep Purple was "Concrete God", which the band thought was too harsh to take on.
This came out in 1984.. WELL past Deep Purple's prime.. At this point hey are just an above average heavy metal band (lead singer had the best voice in rock until Freddy Mercury came on scene). Deep Purple was originally a Prog Rock group that created some of the founding sounds of the Heavy Metal movement.. In their Prog days they were known as the best riff band around (every song had a guitar hook that just stuck with you). There is a "Must See" performance on CZcams; search for Deep Purple - Child In Time - Live (1970). The vocal display is astounding!! After that, any cut off the album Machine Head (1972), one of the best rock albums of all time.. The most famous and recognizable song is about the making of the album (and the disaster that nearly prevented them from recording.). It's called Smoke on the Water which has , what is possibly the most recognized guitar riff of all time.. It not the best song on the album but its a hell of a story!! Whatever you do dont miss Child in Time live... It is a earth shattering performance...
Black Pegasus Deep Purple are one of the classic rock bands that came out at the same time with Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin. DP formed in mid 1960's in England. There were different lineup changes during DP's timeline with this lineup was most famous with late Jon Lord (keyboardist & Ian Paice (drummer) were constant members along with Ritchie Blackmore (guitarist). Final lineup was from 1974 to 1976 with new members, Glenn Hughes on bass and David Coverdale, singer. Then in 1984, this lineup shown here reunited for this album, Perfect Strangers. Ritchie stay with the band for number of years until he left for solo material. Both Ian Gillan, singer, Roger Glover, Bassist, and Ian Paice on drums continues today as Deep Purple with Don Airey on the keys and Simon McBride, who replaced Steve Morse on guitar. Steve replaced Ritchie
Oh man, this is a rabbit hole worth going down. Deep purple (along with Sabbath and zep) are one of the three bands that invented what was known as Heavy Metal back in the late 60's. You have already experienced David coverdale the singer with Whitesnake. He became famous replacing Ian Gillan as singer in Deep Purple in 1973. Deep purple was created to have and as a result has had a rotating membership over the years however, the classic lineup known as mark 2 with ian gillan on vocals. This song is from the mark 2 line up when they reformed in 1984. You will recognise the song smoke on the water. Thats a riff i wouod expect to make your play list. Also check out the live version of child in time, speed king, fireball, strange kind of woman, black night, and highway star. From the mark 3 lineup with david coverdale, you should listen to burn. The original guitar player fir deep purple was Ritchie Blackmore. He then firmed the band Rainbow with Ronnie James Dio on vocals for the first few albums. You will love rainbow if you enjoy Dio. Finally, prior to joining deep purple, vocalist Ian Gillan was part of the original cast for the Broadway musical version of Jesus Christ Superstar. That is worth checking out. And after he left deep purple, he formed a solo band called Gillan (which featured guitar player Janic Gers, who is now with Iron Maiden). Check out the songs No Laughing in Heavan, New Orleans, and unchain your brain
This was done when they were a bit older. Good songs to listen to by them are Child in Time. Smoke on the Water. Space Truckin’. Those are rockin’ and showcase every band member and their music abilities.
Deep purple. Child in time. Live version will blow you off your chair ❤❤❤❤❤❤
YES, from 1970!
YES, from 1970!
Yeah child in time live is a must!
up
Yayyy it's unanimous ! Just do it black pegasus !!!! 😂🤣😅
Smoke On The Water is their most iconic song but they have plenty of iconic songs

The holy Trinity of Rock
🔥🔥🔥
You got there first I was just about to post that
Those are the Godfathers of hard rock/heavy metal
UNholy trinity of Heavy Metal.
forgot Pink Floyd
@@kurtschmidt9760 Trinity means 3. Pink Floyd was more prog than heavy.
Deep Purple the classic Smoke on the Water the famous l i c k where every guitar player starts out
Who the hell suggests this song for a guy that has never heard of Deep Purple? Literally any song off of their album "Machine Head" would give him a great idea of who he is listening to.
I like this song but... man, my thoughts exactly! They've written history with their earlier material.
Deep Purple definitely one of the greatest rock bands of All time
Deep Purple are Rock royalty. This video documents the first time these 5 guys reunited to record an album after 11 years. They are hanging out and getting reacquainted. Has nothing to do with Women. Deep Purple...... Smoke On The Water 🔥 The "hook" is sooooo iconic.
CHILD IN TIME, CHILD IN TIME , CHILD IN TIME, Everyone clammers for it. And for good reason.
"Space Truckin'", "My Woman From Tokyo", "Smoke on the Water", "Highway Star" are just a drop in the bucket of Deep Purple's song list. One of my favorite bands!
Highway Star is the ultimate Deep Purple song. Early 70's super group. The album Machine Head is a classic from start to finish.
Deep Purple -most iconic group ever! Don't miss the chance to listen really great music - Child in time, Highway star, strange kind of woman, smoke on the water, lazy, when the blind man cries - just few of songs you must know. The live versions always better then studio :)

Deep Purple doing Child in Time live from 1970 is a rock masterclass of vocals and instruments. Prepare yourself
“Smoke on the Water” a must! Thanks for giving them a listen!❤️🔥✌🏻🫶🏻
They just released a new song this week, grey haired old men. Seen them twice.... legends, this is there get back together song after a long hiatus
They have been around since late 60's. They just released a new single from an upcoming new CD. By the way the singer is 78 and still sounds great. "Portable door" is the name of the new song.

To me this is THE rock song of 1980s. Absolute masterpiece - as a composition, arrangement, performance and sound engineering of the album.
I totally agree!
Funny you mention dio! He was in a band called rainbow, which had deep purple members in it!
Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow is the band you are talking about!
The guitarist in this band is Ritchie Blackmore when Deep Purple broke up he formed the band rainbow with Ronnie James Dio as its lead singer then Deep Purple reformed Ronnie James Dio went to Black Sabbath

Saw the same tour in Philly
Saw the same tour in Tacoma Wa. it's still regarded as the loudest concert ever at the Tacoma Dome, people across I-5 about an 1/8 mile away could not only hear the concert but could tell what song they were playing lol.
San Diego in 85 :D

"Ritchie Blackmore is the kind of guy who´ll tell you he doesn´t give a flying f###k.
Why?
Because he doesn´t give a flying f###k!"
All of them absolute Rock ´n´ Roll legends.
The song you really want to hear off this record is called "Knocking at your back door". Trust me its SOOO YOU!!!
Yea Bro... bad ass
This is a reunion of the Deep Purple Mk II line-up. The song Hush that came out in the late 60s had a different singer. Lazy is another great tune
Longtime 70’s British band. They were broken up and got back together for this album around ‘84 and toured. I saw them on this tour and it’s still in my top 10 of shows ever.
Started listening to them back in the early 1970's when I was in High school, I think this song is from the 80's
Same ❤
Hush is one of my favourite songs by Deep Purple
It's a reunion album.
Deep purple disbanded years ago and finally got back together to put out this album.
Video shows them getting reacquainted .
This is a Re- Unite Deep Purple in 1984 ..Go back to 1968 on the song HUSH
You should hear this song with an orchestra behind it. I love this video where you see Richie Blackmore actually smile. He is a monster guitarist.

Child in Time - best Rock song ever! Live! Play it!
One of the greatest rock songs ever
Anyone else out there at Knebworth 1985? Seeing DP mk2 was a dream looked like would never happen.
One of my favorite guitarists...Ritchie Blackmore 🥰
This is a early 70's band getting back together in the mid 80's for a bit.
You definitely need to do Child in Time, Lazy, highway star. These dudes are from London formed in 1967. They are excellent musicians. You need to do more of Deep Purple
Great reaction. . Deep purple. .."Smoke on the water"💐💐💐💐💐
Highway Star by Deep Purple will blow you away! One of my favorite guitar solos of all time, and I'm a professional musician. Lead guitarist.

Ohhhhh my gawdddd I haven't heard this in at least 2 decades!!! ❤❤❤
Child in time…live, will blow your mind
They are for real
Them boys are part of the big three out of the united Kingdom back in the 70's.
Saw them in Cardiff 1996, Jon Lord broke out into the Welsh national anthem in the middle of his solo……place erupted ❤❤
Deep Purple, Black Sabbath & Led Zeppelin are the original 3 HEAVY METAL bands. DP was formed in 1968. One of the most influential bands in rock history. Guitarist Ritchie Blackmore quit to form Rainbow, & hired Dio as his singer.
Perfect Strangers tour I believe was the first time I saw them, this was after they'd broken up and got back together. God what a great show.
One of the best rock band in the 70's 🤔
Lazy, Hush, Highway Star, Spac Truckin, Child in Time and Smoke on the Water are just a few of their Mega Hits. Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin ARE the Roots of Modern Heavy Metal and are known as the Unholy Trinity! Judas Priest was right behind them in the Time Frame when the Heavy Metal Explosion all began.
This is a deep rabbit hole
Deep Purple are one of the best rock bands of their generation. Vocals Ian Gillian,Ian Paice Drums, Ritchie Blackmore,Lead Guitar,John Lord Keyboards and Glen Glover Bass. Listen to Child in Time from Made in Japan and Highway Star from the same album. Child in Time will blow your mind.
Great reaction. Here is one for your playlist. Deep purple "SMOKE ON THE WATER"
Deep Purple through out the years, they were a bit older here, there are videos where they are younger...... Check out Deep Purple - Smoke on the Water - Child in Time
Ian Gillian the singer in this group went on to be in the group Black Sabbath he did one album with them & one video call (Zero the Hero) check it out you should love it
Saw them live in the 80’s they rocked.
Back in the 70's before all iron maiden and twisted sister lol
Deep purple 💜 legends lol
BP, also from DP Smoke on the Water (guarantee you have hard opening rif). My woman from Tokyo, child in time, highway star, burn. 🙂
Space truckin full version by deep purple
Black Pegasus
Deep Purple are one of the classic rock bands that came out at the same time with Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin.
Dio is part of the Deep Purple extended family.
This was done when they were a bit older. Good songs to listen to by them are Child in Time. Smoke on the Water. Space Truckin’. Those are rockin’ and showcase every band member and their music abilities.
Best song ever!!
Love this one❤❤❤❤. I was fortunate enough to ride in a hot air balloon! It was AWESOME
Smoke on the Water - ICONIC ROCK Definitely one to react to!
The Deep Purple/ Dio connection is Richie Blackmore. After Purple came Rainbow. Dio on vocals. Listen to Man on the silver mountain. Stay Honest. 😁
