I was a huge Deep Purple nut when I was a teen. The "Made in Japan" live version of "Lazy" is spectacular! R.I.P. Jon Lord! czcams.com/video/uflsjU95lRM/video.html
Deep Purple’s Machine Head is one of the best Hard Rock album of all time. A collection of hits (Smoke On The Water, Highway Star, Lazy, Never Before, etc). And Lazy’s intro is just awesome (hail to Jon Lord, The keyboard wizard).
I have always loved how this song just takes its time building up. There is no way modern music would allow a song to just go on like that. Really enjoying your diversity of reactions, you're taking me back a long way. Keep it up.
You know good music when you hear it. I mean, I heard everything there is to hear, and Deep Purple is absolute class. They have expression, drive, style, mystery and everything else.
This has gotta be my favorite Deep Purple track. Ritchies intro riff was just way ahead of its time.. that vibrato control is unreal. Don't forget about Jon Lord! Dang man, glad you had a chance to witness this.
One of my favorite Deep Purple tunes. Every instrument is doing its part, and doing so in a way that makes this song a masterpiece. Lord, Blackmore and Paice are just rocking out.
Ian Paice’s drumming , Glover on bass driving this beast of a song. When I first heard this song you never could guess where it was going to go, it’s got everything. RIP Jon Lord. Ritchie Blackmore, you rock 👍
I've came across three top ten guitarists of all time videos that have no sight nor sound of Ritchie Blackmore. Each time, like a mug, I would watch right to the end, expecting him there, but no! I don't ever want to trash any guitarist out there, but Blackmore should at least be able to be make anyone's top ten.
Space Truckin is a great follow up song to Lazy on this album. And of course Smoke On The Water is probably their most known song which has a great intro before any lyrics, also on the same album.
I prefer the Made in Japan version of Smoke, it's a bit quicker. Probably prefer it as it's the first version I heard, there's that little departure thing Blackmore did early on, love it.
I’m 63 years old. Deep Purple was my favorite band and I haven’t heard this song in at least 35 years. Still awestruck by the musicianship! Still my favorite!
YES! Cheers to you man thanks for the shout out, I watch your videos ALL the time for songs I’ve heard, Try ‘Child in Time’ or ‘Highway Star’ by DP next for some straight SAUCE! Love your work! 🔥🙌🏻🤟🏻 - Andy 😎
Ron Nelson obviously if you’re a fan you’ll know this song. He means that it’s not one of the hits that a non fan would hear and say they know like smoke on The water or Highway Star.
@@jeremydraper733 Thank you 👍🏼 I was thinking it must be 'snarky Wednesday' or something 😉 Id also say, Deep Purple themselves are reasonably obscure, unless your a fan "of a certain age" 😊 Of course, they aren't Wishbone Ash either, now that's obscure.
Saludos
@stalrunner Yeah Deep Purple needs to get a steady spot in our rotation in general, so many tracks by them to hit, and then the live versions are apparently as good if not x10 better from what you guys are sayin’
This was the first album I ever bought. It was so good that I have worn out 3 copies. I also took a pilgrimage to Montreux. I had shivers all over my body the day I was there. Freddie was a bonus. Also some fine looking scenery there too, if you know what I mean.
The entire Machine Head album by Deep Purple KILLS! Every track is monumental. Seriously, pick any one, you’ll love it. It’s probably my favorite Deep Purple album.
I love watching these. Deep Purple was my first rock show. It was 1973 and I was 11. Blew my little mind. I went with a buddy. He was 12 and we were properly chaperoned.
I'm still pushing for Strange Kind of Woman from MiJ. The live arrangement with the call and response between Ritchie and Ian is absolutely brilliant. Add Ian's earth shattering screams with Blackmore's superior proficiency on solos throughout and you have one of the most original live songs ever recorded. It's time for some REACTION!
Jamal...you are the mot refreshing thing I have found on You Tube. You don’t trivialize or dismiss any song. You treat them with fresh eyes and an open mind. Thank You.
My favorite song from Machine Head, which I started listening to excessively during the 4th grade or so. RIP Jon Lord, one of the best rock keyboardists ever.
I saw Deep Purple during the Perfect Stranger tour. Man! My grandfather turned me on to Deep Purple when I was an early teen with the live Made in Japan album. Changed my life forever. Lazy, Highway Star, and Child in Time are my favorite tracks on that album. It just kicks some serious ass.
1971, my Dad had just retired from the Air Force and we were getting ready to make the long drive from Plattsburgh AFB in Upstate NY to his family home in South Carolina. On the day before we left my parents took us to the PX and gave me and my two sisters some money to buy ourselves snacks, games and whatever else we wanted for the long trip. I was six and this was the first time I'd been given my own money to buy things for myself. Along with everything else I bought my first two 8-track cassette tapes, Deep Purple's Machine Head and the soundtrack to Jesus Christ Superstar. Lazy is a stand out tune from what was an awesome album. Somebody better have checked on the dude playing the electric piano/Hammond organ 'cause one of them is with child after all that!
You are helping me appreciate music I took for granted. A lot of these older pieces were just back ground music at parties and the neighborhood. Listening with you is like hearing them for the first time.
This was one of those "changed my life" albums. My sister is 4 years older than me and when she bought this album when it was released and I heard songs like this it was my introduction to "heavier" music.
The best hard rock/blues/rock/classical keyboard player that ever lived. Also the only one at the time that ran his hammond through Marshall amps PURE GENIUS
You picked a good one! Plenty of 'stank' in that tune! Just about anytime a Purple tune is more than 5 minutes you'll get rewarded not only with the nearly obligatory keyboard and guitar solos but probably ones at each end of it like bookends. Lazy is one of their best. Super job picking this classic!
50 years ago this album and song was blasting in Athens Greece when I was serving my country....50 years ago....damn, seems like yesterday....good reactio.
Machine Head was the first album I ever bought. Smoke on the Water had the opening rift every non guitar player could fake. My favorite was Space Truckin'
Thank you, man. My favorite band. And the whole of "Machinehead" is a great album. PLEASE do the opening track, "Highway Star". You won 't be disappointed, I promise my friend.
Very talented and under rated band. I always viewed them as being just as good as zepplin. Ian Gillam is one of the best rock singers of all time and Richie Blackmore is a great guitar player and then there was the late great Lord on the keyboards. Great song and as many other post here the live version is really great.
Did you hear that driving bass line, blazing organ, spitfire guitar riffs, pounding drums? Topped off with a great vocalist what do you get? Deep Purple. Thank you Jamal for the reaction
Together with Pink Floyd, Deep Purple are the finest rock band you could ever listen to. Nothing but talent.
The Doors as well
The whole machine head album is fantastic! Every song is good!
One of the first albums I ever bought.
To me , it remains their best album ever. Still love those tracks to this day. Timeless jam .......

Me too! Always overshadowed by that 'other' band, but did their guitarist ever play so cleanly? Na 👍
Deep Purple Made in Japan is the best live album I've ever heard. First heard it back in 1972.
Oh yeah. Have it in my truck right now.
I second that, Live in Japan is a must see/listen.
@@SphinxDG Me too. Exactly. Word for word what you said!
"Deep Purple were like a bad marriage but with great sex" best quote on them I've ever heard.
Jonty Piper I know the feeling. I didn't have a great marriage but the sex was amazing and phenomenal
LOL, never heard that before either!! 😂 Quite accurate, I'd say!!

They don't play the blues, they play DEEP PURPLE. Yeah baby.

Deep Purple=Deep Purple!
Richie Blackmore, one of the greatest guitar players of Rock.

Vladimir Erfan Child in Time off the In Rock album is another timeless classic.
And some badass harp playin

Are you calling Deep Purple "Crazy?" 🤣

Notice the sheer number of seriously influential British bands! And superb blues!
"When a Blind Man cries" is one of Deep Purple's best tunes...you need to react to that one for sure.
There’s nothing lazy about the musicianship in this song!
This is my favorite Deep Purple, with the possible exception of "Ring that Neck."
Their is Great and their is Great ! The Organ ,The Drums ,The Singer ,The Bass , and Then Richie Blackmore on Guitar , UNREAL!
