    I started on a cbr600rr and i love it, i recently after only 6 months of riding bought a K6 GSXR1000 on a really good deal. Anyways i love to ride my 600 still i can just go rip wheelies and hit twisties with ease compared to my 1000 it takes a lot more brain power for me i have to really be on a swivel and be focused because it can go from cool to oh shit in a quick second on the 1000. The power in the low gears is just unmatched compared to my 600, i can go so fast on the 1000 and not even realize it because its so planted and smooth. A bit scary still at times i must admit.

  • @madmike171
    @madmike171 Před rokem +16

    I have a 2018 version registered in 2019 (same as the 2023 model but with wheelie control linked to TC instead of separate - that's what the W on the dash was for) and I freaking love it. Ofc I'm in the UK though so it has mandatory ABS but the previous owner was kind enough to do all the mods I wanted ;). Quick shifter, full Race Fit exhaust, nice break and clutch levers, tinted wind screen, tail tidy. It's an absolute joy to ride and turns heads constantly as it's bright red and insanely loud. Also, we get the full fat power, less restricted version over here ;). I had a 2019 cbr650r for 3 years before it was stolen and I bought the 1000rr last summer so whilst the power difference is huge, the delivery means you aren't gonna go crazy speeds without wanting it.

  • @thagingerninjer5391
    @thagingerninjer5391 Před rokem +1

    I have a 2021 cbr1000RA. It’s the abs model of the base cbr1000rr. Some of them have it and some of them don’t. The w is wheelie control. I have 6000 miles on mine since I bought it new in august, and I love it. Can’t wait to get the ecu flashed. They’re super restricted form the factory. I’ve taken out the restrictors in the airbox already, and have an Akrapovic gp slip on. Doing pair valve block offs this summer, then flashing it. Kudos for clarifying the whole “sport bikes are uncomfortable” thing. I daily mine, and wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m 5’5”, and what you said about it being comfortable for smaller people is 100% accurate. It’s the same size and weight my 2006 cbr600rr was. Pretty crazy. The stock slip on is titanium, and really nice, for a stock exhaust. I lost a few pounds with the tiny gp slip on, but it wasn’t like getting rid of a stainless steel slip on. The exhaust valve on the stock slip on really quietens it down until around 7000 rpm’s. There are faster liter bikes, but I freakin love this one. It’s beautiful. I like the red, white, and blue, but the red, white, and black of the 2017-2021 looks amazing. I’m a Honda fanboy, but the cowl is my favorite of all the literbikes. She has a pretty face, man. Lol.

  • @AntiPlatitude
    @AntiPlatitude Před rokem +52

    The bike does have an available quick shifter. It is adjustable through the menu, but I don't think you can turn it off. So if the one you tested wasn't working, it probably is the base model, which does not have one.
    Also, there are 2 models of the RR, one of them is the ABS model.

    • @sidthesloth218
      @sidthesloth218 Před rokem +11

      I have the 22 RR and I had to purchase a quick shifter separately from Honda, but it does work and you can turn it on and off. You can either have up shifts on or off, downshifts on or off, or if you want you can have both off or on. It is displayed on the dash if you have one or both on. You are also correct there are two models, one with ABS and one without.

    I had the 2017 version... nothing has changed as far as I can tell. You can get an ABS version, or the SP came with ABS and Quick Shifter. Then there was an SPP version, that was the full race setup... prior to the CBR1000RR-R existed, not sure which model/models that replaced or if it's just another model in addition to the others. Great bike though, not the fastest, but more than enough for anyone... too much for most if their honest with where their actual skill level is. My USMC buddies would just buy brand new bikes and get me to show them how to take off without stalling out. I remember one of my boots came home from his 1st deployment, his wife (probably a prior service stripper) bought him a brand new GSXR 750 (06/07) while he was gone, he didn't even know how a clutch worked... i trained him for a couple of hours in an apartment complex parking lot before wishing him the best... never crashed, so that was good.

    I have this same model bike. It’s wonderful. I’m a new rider but not new to speed. My first bike was a 2023 CBR500. I was trying to get an 2023 MT09 SP but the dealer messed over so I bought the 500 so I could ride with my buddy. Had a bad taste about the 500 so I traded it in at the same dealer for a 2023 CBR1000RR. Night and day difference, lots of character and a lot of fun. Kept it in Mode 3 until I got familiar with the bike.

    Most newer bikes have a break in compound that gives good bite and feel even before the pads are broken in. Other bikes like the zx14r are using the same specification brake pads from a decade ago. It is also possible that the brake pad compound that came on the bike is crap. My 2018 sv650 was way better after putting ebc HH pads on the front.

    I had a Kawi z650. Upright naked bike.
    I ride as much as I can and hate being in a cage, so I am riding a lot.
    On the highway the z650 had zero wind protection and was way too buzzy above 85 mph.
    To note I am 55 years old in a month and have a bunch of semi-serious injuries from athletics.
    I now ride a 2022 GSXR750. I have nice wind protection on the highway and that inline 4 cylinder is smooth at highway speeds.
    I lay my core on the tank, keep a nice flex in the spine, tank grips help my legs clamp, keep my hands super light, and I can ride for hours.
    Naked bikes are over rated hype trains.
    I cannot see myself riding without a fairing ever again…even if my old bones has to switch to a Road Glide!😂

    ABS is standard on the newer Fireblades from the 2017+ series. Also fun fact, Honda uses C-ABS (combined ABS). It's a system they invented so that the braking pressure is always equally applied to both front and back. Which means you can slam the front brake and it will use the rear electronically. One down side to this system is the maintenance, it's very time consuming or very expensive at a dealer to do a brake fluid refill. Because of how the system is setup, draining the front or back will still leave brake fluid at the ABS pump in the middle. It's like 3 seperated circuits.
    I forgot to add, things like a burnout is also impossible with this system. And for serious track riders it's another downside of not being able to decide how you want to split the braking pressure. Other than that it's a system to make street riding more safe which is a bonus

    This is the older 2017 model which is now the base model here in the US. Doesn’t come standard with a quick shifter but it is an accessory that can be added. We don’t get the new base model here only the triple R SP. As far as brakes they should be like that out of the box. While you do need to bed in new brakes they shouldn’t be spongy off the showroom floor. Yamaha has been know for weak brake feel. Just about everyone who tests that bike mentions it.

    I had a 2017 CBR1000rr. Same engine etc. mine was one of the MANY with that newer engine that had serious problems with knocking/pre-ignition between about 4k rpm and 7k when the engine was under load. It sounds like marbles rattling around in a jar. I confirmed it with a tuner (who was unable to completely tune it out of the bike, but did help) and confirmed by myself when I dumped a bottle of octane booster in the gas tank and it went away completely. The bike in this video strangely does not sound like it has that problem! This one is a taker. I didn’t hear it at all. Other 2023s do have it, you can hear it in their CZcams videos

    I have a Mazda 3 with great brakes but they don’t start working properly until the car is moving and warmed up, like 5 to 10 minutes, before that they are very touchy and grab straight away but after warming up perfect, so I question the validity of getting on a brand new motorcycle, going a few feet and then braking and declaring that the brakes are good.
