The biggest problem was the fact that front facing exhaust they had was very difficult to develop. And when the others fought up with the blown diffusers, the car’s problems started to show: it was quite slow in low speed corners, average at most in high speed, only gaining on the rest in medium speed corners. Also, the car suffered from a lot of understeer which didn’t help either Overall, Renault went for a quick gain, didn’t think about a long term possibilities and when it became obvious that standard blown diffuser was better it was already too late

They said that the front facing exhaust was a massive hindrance later on and really didn't help them going forward

The exhaust system was just way too much for the team to develop..
Front facing exhaust was also really poor in low speed corners
theres was a problem, they just got the aero wrong. the new pirellis requires more rear end downforce
