    Linkstage3 is a development branch of freecad used by project contributor RealThunder to test new features that hopefully will be merged with master. It is highly experimental and must be used with caution, do your backups and stuff. FreeCAD is a opensource parametric CAD software similar to Fusion360 or SolidWorks with CAD and CAM capabilities. you pick incredible examples that give a lot of useful tips that simplify workflow that can be applied to dozens of other projects. I have learned more from two of your videos that I did reading an entire book on freecad.

    Learnt a few things: * the copy carbon icon; the loft; one can use an schema more than once, like you did on the horizontal screw; the pad or hole to datum plane; datum planes. This gave me a better understanding of them.
    Thanks

      Indeed datums(not only planes) are a often misunderstood but very useful feature. You can think of them as a new origin for the orientation and positioning of your features in the body. Thank you for your kind words.

    I tried following this tutorial before but I couldn't comprehend everything. Fortunately I just completed it! Feeling accomplished :) Definitely not for some totally new to FreeCad!
    Also learnt on how to fix my errors so understanding the UI. Can't wait to follow more of your tutorials when I get the time! Awesome stuff as always mate!

      Yes, these are not really total beginner tutorials but I try my best to make the comprehensible. I'm really glad you find them useful. That is my end goal after all :)

      @@OficineRobotica I'm just glad you made these videos. I can really appreciate the time and consideration you took into making them.
      I need to figure out a way on how to support the FreeCad movement myself whilst living in Bangladesh.

    For the first base sketch: You could also use the 'constraint preserving sketch fillet' tool for your 50x50 rectangle. That way the 50mm horizontal constraint stays in place and you need a lot less construction mode sketches... if that makes sense

    I really like your videos, very well done. You are very skilled. What I would like to see, is a shell design for a small Arduino board - a "organic" shell, curvy, let's say ergnonomic, like a joystick-grip, but yet with a thickness, and space inside for electronics. I liked y guitar videos, but then, it was not hollow, and suitable as an example for a case.

    Following this tutorial on latest version and this splitdark configuration, the datum plane didn't automatically appear in Z offset positions. Only after refreshing. Which might be confusing as it was for me to figure it out

    Hi there. Could anyone explain me why FreeCAD consider to turn a plane around the Z axis like Y axis??? (Minute 16:00). My brain can't handle this way of doing the rotation... :-) Thanks in advance.
    After a while thinking... Does it has to be with the coordinate axis of the new plane? So Z axis is perpendicular to the datum and so on...???

    @gokulu Před 2 lety +1

    Nice tutorial, but what I noticed is that you have the grid turned on in the part design workbench. How did you do this?

    • @OficineRobotica
      @OficineRobotica  Před 2 lety +3

      I'm using the Draft workbench grid. You can enable it by switching to that workbench. I made a request to the developers for a easier accessible global grid.

    Why you wuldn't recommend mapping a sketch on the face with the relief for the nut? Is it something to do with FreeCAD being FreeCAD or standard practise in CAD?

    • @andrewshkolik
      @andrewshkolik Před 2 lety +2

      It's ok with Linkstage3 branch, but not ok with vanila freecad due to topological naming problem.

    • @kruger12311
      @kruger12311 Před 2 lety +1

      @@andrewshkolik Ok, now i get it :) Thank's.

    • @OficineRobotica
      @OficineRobotica  Před 2 lety +4

      as @andrew shkolik said it is less of a problem in linkstage3 than in master and for small projects is sometimes inevitable but if you are dealing with important work or really complex models it can really mess with the geometry especially if done early in the history of the tree. It messes with the geometry if later in the modeling process one starts to alter previous features .
      This is not a FC only problem, all parametric cad softwares suffer from this to various extents. Somme more , some less and thus not considered a good practice. The new topo naming algorithm from realthunder puts FC in the category of cad's that suffer allot less from the toponaming problem so yes, one can get away with it :)

    HI, i was wandering any expected timeline for another daily/Stable release of LinkStage3 branch? there is a bug in current build and it been fixed in master, for that bug I can't continue one personal project. I'm commenting here because I believe you have good communication with LinkStage3 branch dev.
